This place is great! I was going to take a picture of my food but it looked so good that I forgot. I was there on a Wednesday around 7am and it was so fast that I was pleasantly surprised!! This food was so good!! I had the tri-river breakfast and it was more than enough food for me. The sausage and bacon was way above my expectations! This was probably the best breakfast that I have had in Pittsburgh! They are doing great things at this place!!
My husband and I happened to be walking in the neighborhood exploring and looking for places to rent. I was hungry and here was the sandwich shoppe. We stopped in and I had breakfast foods and husband has Dagwood. This was the best meal we have had so far exploring the city. Everything was fantastic! Do yourself a favor and eat here.
Stopped here after Alzheimers Walk, only to discover so many others had too!! 1/2 hour wait:(. but Mike the owner offered to bring us coffee while we waited outside, then opened the back of his SUV and we did a coffee tailgate!!
food was great, especially the waffles! service was too! very friendly staff and patrons. super local restaurant!! definitely a go to place for breakfast and lunch!
Owner set us up a tailgate coffee because he was filled and couldn't give us a table right away. What fun and even better food!

Our friendly waitress expertly served us without being over/under-attentive. The food was a surprise- diner breakfast fare with nice presentation! The fact that they served red potatoes instead of the standard white was especially nice.
Overall, a really good experience. This place is definitely a keeper!
Good .... But..... Please consider opening till later. Sorry to break it to you guys, but theres alot of folks here who would love to eat your food past 3 pm. This would be the ultimate late night spot!
Open early. A great early morning option for breakfast on the Northside. Most open at eight Allegheny opens at seven on Saturday. Food and service were top notch. Interior clean and quaint. Definitely will stop again hopefully to try lunch.
Great CHEAP breakfast!. I love the breakfasts here, they're cheap, good and great! Their waitresses are a charm! Lunches are alright though, I only come here for the breakfast.
Tasty and classic breakfast and lunch menu. Nothing overly fancy but great tasting and generous serving size.
Was visiting from out of town and went for breakfast. Enjoyed it so much we went back the next day!
Ordered the breakfast bagel and it was delightful. Also tried their Marble Rye toast, which was a bit special!

The waitresses are a delight each and every visit and I’ll put the Spanish omelet with home fries up against any breakfast in the city. The Allegheny Sandwich Shoppe had a great run, but this place is even better under new ownership!
Ownership changed. The previous staff was very comfy and inviting. This new group was good too. Food order this time was simple.
I'm from Italy, and I use to go to Pittsburgh every year for around 3 months. And every time, I go for lunch there pretty much every day. And I love to sit at the counter, and chat with the owner lady. The dishes are typical American style. Simple, abundant and cheap. And the soups are fabulous. I really miss that place, and I hope to be able to go there soon...
Breakfast was delicious. I had the Western Ave Western Omelet which was loaded with ham, onion, peppers tomatoes and cheddar cheese. The home fries were perfect and just a just a really good flavor. I really enjoyed it and I'll definitely be back.
This place is a hidden gem. The service and the food are great. I got my order in about 10 mins, not a long wait. Very nice place and the people are nice as well.
Food is always what I expect, service, I don't think the waitress could have done any better since she was by herself, but non the less it took a while especially when you're busy and only get a short time. Overall good
I have been on a Ruben kick, and while many have been good, this place has the absolute best Ruben!!! For about $10, you get an amazing sandwich, chips, and a pickle.

Loved everything about the Allergy Sandwich Shop. The portions are generous, they use real food and fresh food, and the staff are so pleasant and helpful. The food comes out quickly and hot. Free parking lot too. It is a slight step back in time to the Pittsburgh when you knew other people you passed on the street. That is the feeling it gave me, Mr. Rogers' Pittsburgh. My only constructive feedback was that the steak on my steak salad was cut first and then cooked. My guess is that this saves time or helps with portion control but I would always prefer to wait longer or pay more to have it cooked whole, then slice it.
I get take out most of the time and when I walk in the food is coming out of the kitchen right on time still hot. Recommend the meat lovers scramble.
