First time here at this little hidden gem and I loved it. First the gyro was rolled like a burrito so it was easier to keep all the filling inside it. The meat was delicious and they had feta throughout the entire thing. Most places either put it all in one spot or not enough. I will definitely be back. FoodFather Approved.
I've been here so so so many times. I'm very picky about food and I have never been disappointed in this place. It's small and family run so during peak hours it they often feel a little understaffed, but short of asking for a few things here and there, I've never had a complaint. The food is all around delicious no matter what you get. The gyro platter might be my favorite -- simple but SO delicious.
My first review ever - I made the effort because this place was fantastic. A nice selection of very delicious vegetarian dishes prepared upon request for my vegetarian friend, meat dishes - especially the lamb - for the rest of us. From appetizers to desserts everything we ate was out of this world. Staff was very cordial and efficient. I live in Butler County, but will be back again soon and will bring friends.
Great food. Small family-run Lebanese place. It's literally right across the street from the Willow Blue Line T stop. No liquor license, but it's BYOB, no corking fees. Hidden gem.
Love, love, love!!!! Food is ALWAYS great! We order everything on the menu, never been disappointed!
AMAZING! my new favorite. I've eaten at Kabob-G three times on the recommendation of a Lebanese friend. Every thing I tried has been amazing. The house salad, which in most places just entertains me until the main course arrives, was delicious. I was sad when I finished it. The hummus is excellent, the rice is the best mediterranean variety I've ever had. My favorite so far was the moussaka... It may be the best tasting thing I've ever eaten. I took my friend whose family owned a middle eastern restaurant years ago. He talked me into the raw kibbe on a Saturday and it was surprisingly very good. My friend is a tough critic on middle eastern cuisine and he was impressed with everything. The only reason I hesitate to leave a review is that I don't want all of you eating all of the moussaka....
Get yourself over there!. I wish I had done that myself sooner! If you are looking for a place to take family/friends, a romantic dinner, or just grab some takeout - this is the place. Not only is the food wonderful, the family that runs the restaurant is very charming and clearly enjoys preparing delicious food for their customers.
I ordered 2 mezza to try - the spinach pie and the mujaddara, a rice and lentil dish with caramelized onions on top. the pie was good but the mujaddara was my favorite. My friend ordered the lamb shish kabob dinner, which was juicy, tender and cooked to a perfect medium.
Since it was her birthday, we ordered and shared desserts. The young woman serving us swooned about their version of creme brulee and so we ordered that and a rice pudding. The creme brulee was so very creamy, topped with whipped creme and strawberries. I did not miss the burnt sugar topping. My rice pudding was rich and thick with a hint of rose water perhaps. We were given 2 complimentary pieces of baklava to take home, which I will enjoy tomorrow.
The kabobs are a little pricey but the rest of the menu is very reasonable. Since the place is so tiny, I would suggest making a reservation. This is a BYOB establishment and I don't think we were charged a corkage fee.
Yes, put Kabob-G-Grill on your short list of new places to try!
Sleeper - go find it. Food was outstanding -- very Pittsburgh like portions - -come hungry.
The waitress and the ladies in the Kitchen were delightful......service as excellent. Not sure about the father like figure who just stares at you.........skip over him. The ladies who run the place are wonderful. Must try it, menu is excellent - - gets my vote for the best gyro in Pittsburgh.
Enjoy
Love love food is so good. I have only been for lunch and always so amazing. Great food but a little pricey and lacking a beautiful atmosphere but so yummy ..never been disappointed..
I can't say enough great things about Kabob-G! The food is beyond amazing. My husband's filet and lamb kabobs were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Very tender. My gyro platter was huge and could easily feed two! Delicious and authentic. The hummus is honesty the best I have ever had. Perfectly smooth and creamy, not gritty. BYOB, but I opted for a mint iced tea, which was also delicious. Great little place!
While in Pittsburgh, PA, we went to dinner and had some food I grew up on at Kabob G Grill. This is a mom and pop Middle Eastern place family run. We had grape leaves (meat and vegetarian), hummus, loobyeh with beef tips, sleek, rice, and fattoush salad (Check attached menu for ingredients). Their food was delicious and authentic. If you happen to be in the Castle Shannon suburb of Pittsburgh and looking for some amazing Middle Eastern dishes, this place is a must. The service was great, and the portions were very filling. Enjoy!
My sister was in town the weekend of 8/18/23 and wanted us to take her out for Middle Eastern food. My wife and I hadn't been here since our first visit in Jan. '23. We live in the North Hills, but the food is authentic and very good, so we knew it would be worth the drive. No one was disappointed. We started with the baba, which had that familiar smoky flavor. My sister had a salad and my wife the feta spinach pie. I opted for the sleek, a cooked dish made with spinach, black-eyed peas, bulgar wheat and onions. We all shared the rice pilaf, with vermicelli and toasted almonds, which adds a nice contrast in texture. Sister got the filet kabob, my wife the shish tawook and I the kafta kabob. All of the kabobs came hot off the grill and were moist and flavorful. We topped it off with the homemade baklava, which was also good. The Kabob G Grill is located in Castle Shannon, PA, about a block off of Castle Shannon Blvd., in a small building with a nondescript front. There was ample room inside to be seated away from other diners. It appears to be a family operation, with the mother and father staffing the kitchen and the daughter as the waitress. Service was quick and pleasant, the cooked dishes all arrived freshly-made and everything was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. In fact, the only thing I'd change about this place is the name. I know there is at least one other restaurant in the Greater Pittsburgh area with the word "kabob" in the name. It's located in the North Hills, but I think I'd choose a name that was more distinctive to eliminate any possible confusion and make it memorable for customers. All in all, I highly recommend the Kabob-G Grill if you are looking for authentic, delicious Middle Eastern food.
The Lebanon food was amazing and delicious. This place was tucked away in a corner from the busy street. Definitely try them out for your fix of great cuisine
Quick turnaround order time. Meat very juicy and not over cooked especially the lamb. Hummus and mezza platter was delicious and the tabbouli salad so fresh! Never even knew this place was around the corner. Delicious!
Wonderful little family run authentic Lebanese restaurant in the heart of Castle Shannon that we've been going to for years. Their baba ganoush is the best I've ever had. The Gyro is very unique, it is a wrap style instead of pita bread and now I can't eat a gyro any other way! The moussaka is very good. Everything is good! Don't forget to take home some baklava.
testament to the authenticity of the owners—truly the kindest individuals.
While the atmosphere may not boast fanciness, it's inconsequential in the face of the overpowering allure of their delectable dishes. I highly recommend this spot, whether you're opting for takeout or planning a delightful lunch with friends.
And if they have the lentil soup---GET IT!
Amazing food, highly recommended!! My mom and I went here and we are vegan and they had great options, food, drinks too. We got hummus, olives, spinach pie, and mint tea (freshly brewed)
Extremely happy with my dining experience here!
Came in with a group of 12 people a couple weeks ago for a birthday dinner and honestly the food was some of the best ive ever had in Pittsburgh and the US.
I heavily recommend this place, get the hummus, grape leaves, raw kibbe on saturdays, baked kebbe and for sure the rice pudding if its available. All items on the menu were very good and very authentic. 10/10 would come again.
OMG this Lebanese restaurant has such good food. Small family owned. The small house salad dressing had a nice balanced taste with lemon. Schwarma beef and chicken were delicious. Prices were good. Wish we had a wonderful place like this where we live in Virginia.
Such an amazing local family owned place to eat! Service is usually pretty quick, but weekends can be busy, so I'd make a reservation if you want to be sure of a seat! Everything on the menu is homemade an amazing. Splurge on the lamb chops, or do what we do and order a bunch family style and try a little of everything!
