Lucky's is what I imagine a great American Chinese food spot should be like. The food is reliably good, especially the general Tso's tofu. The portions are hefty, the price is exceptional, and the service is fast. I know some folks that have found the owner to be a bit rude but generally I think he's just gruff. The volume of customers they take care of during busy hours is astounding, so I'm sure they get frustrated when people keep them from being efficient. If you call in for pickup just give them your order, they don't need your name or anything. Also recommended, if you want something a little less saucy, the Mei fun (rice noodles) is always good, and you can get it with your choice of protein.
Everyone I know only gets sesame tofu but because I think outside the Lucky's box I opt for bean curd and mixed vegetables with garlic sauce. Best $4.75 you can spend on west philly. @sean: don't know what you were ordering but you're doing it all wrong.
Lucky's is a traditional Chinese restaurant. They have adequate seating for parties as big as four. The only problem is, you need to walk to the kitchen to receive your food. For fast and convenient service, call ahead to save some time. The most popula dish by far is the Sweat and Sour chicken with General Tso's Sauce and white Rice. Pets welcome
Pi Lam special. That’s all I gotta say.
It’s a great place to go to after a frat party to either get food for the group, or stumble to at 2 in the morning.
There is no better microcosm of west Philly at 3 in the morning. You’ll see drunk college kids. You’ll see the type of people up at 3 am. And ever 10 or so minutes you’ll get approached by a homeless person.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you know, you know. Open at all hours of the night, the best bulletproof chinese take out window, hands down. Don't be expecting anything upscale, just salty fried and delicious. Sesame tofu all day.
Great sesame chicken... even if it is the General Tso's with sesame seeds on it.
Amazing place it has everything here and Chinese food LOVE IT 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Ugh I’m addicted to takeout from this corner store. I dream of sesame tofu.
I love their Singapore chow mein!!!
Good because it is cheap and has tofu
