Delicious bagels and bagel sandwiches. You can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches but I recommend getting something with cream cheese. The cream cheese is the best texture and taste I’ve ever had (including fresh NYC and Montreal bagels). Took two containers and a half dozen for home and they travel well—I recommend steaming them first then toasting as they can get a bit hard. The picture I took is from three days later.
There’s a decent amount of tables at this location but make sure to come before 11:30 as it fills up fast. Coffee is also really good, don’t miss out on the orange blossom latte.
I think I liked it? I got the whole wheat bagel with butter and the whole wheat taste was a bit overwhelming. However, I haven't had a whole wheat bagel in awhile and I know it's an acquired taste so take that as you will. Regardless, I enjoyed it. Also, I don't know what "Montreal Style" means so I can't speak to that aspect of it. I can speak to the iced chai latte though, which was really good and refreshing! Staff was also friendly. My only complaint is that they took almost 15 minutes to give me my bagel, despite the place being relatively empty. I think they just forgot about my order because it looked like they had a lot of people coming in to pick up orders. I wasn't in any rush though so this didn't bother me too much. Overall, I would come back for a quick breakfast, especially since I want to try their breakfast sandwiches!
Amazing bagels! So glad I stopped in, this will definitely be a go to whenever I’m back in the city! Friendly staff, great food and drinks, and even a place to sit in the back. Overall one of the best bagel places I’ve ever been to
I’m writing this review because this is arguably my favorite bagel spot in Philly. They serve Montreal-style bagels which I came to love. The menu has something for everybody. They have breakfast sandwiches, vegetarian, meat-heavy, you name it. And it’s delicious! The bagels are baked right out of the wood-fire oven. Heaven. Highly recommend!
We stopped in Spread Bagelry for a late morning Sunday breakfast. The venue is quite large with several tables and a bar section which was unused at the time.
I order The Standard with bacon, egg, and cheese. They were out of everything bagels so I tried a salted egg for the first time. The bagel wasn't my favorite but the sandwich was well made. The bacon was crispy, the eggs were scrambled well and there was loads of cheese in every bite. I paired this with a hot chocolate made with oat milk. They also have soy, almond, and non-dairy milk as alternatives.
My girlfriend ordered a Fritatta Scramble on a cinnamon raisin bagel and liked hers as well. She ordered a caramel iced latte to wash it down.
They had the Eagles game on as we were leaving. There were other patrons hanging out or studying. Nice location for a good breakfast sandwich. Next time I’d like to try one of their many cream cheese flavors.
I went in with an idea of what I wanted and left with something totally different and awesome. The plain bagel with pistachio honey cream cheese spread. Oh, how delicious. The employees were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back!!
A bagel never tasted so good. Great place to have breakfast while seeing the bagels being baked in the wood oven
Hands down the best bagel shop in the city. Being from NY I am a bit particular with my egg sandwiches and bagels but I came here for the first time on Saturday and came again the next day! The staff is so friendly and the cashier was kind enough to give me an iced tea on the house. Pictured is the Carnegie Breakfast and the Fritatta Scramble
I really love the bagels here, but I know the are some problems with the running of this bagelry. So about the bagels first, they are Montreal style meaning that they are a little sweeter than NYC bagels and while they're boiled first they are baked in a wood fired oven rather than a regular oven. The cream cheeses and sandwiches they make here are excellent. That being said the staff can be rather gruff and sometimes downright rude and I've heard the game been some management issues, but can't fault the place on their bagels.
Pleasantly surprised! Stopped in by chance when I was craving a bagel one morning (we’d moved from NJ and had yet to find a good bagel!) These were just crisp enough but still warm and soft in the inside! Also enjoyed the veggie cream cheese :-)
