The garlic chicken is amazing! I'll admit I was expecting more of a nugget from the menu description (garlic chicken fritters) and it was closer to a sauceless wing. But, dang, that flavor! There's a reason this place has been here for so long. Go, eat, you'll enjoy it.

The food is excellent, I have never had a complaint. We have eaten here for thirty plus years. The staff is friendly and courteous.

I grew up coming to this restaurant, throughout my pregnancies, and now I've moved out of town. It's the one restaurant I actively miss. I've been trying to find out what tea they serve, but I have no idea. It's the best tea I've ever had. If anyone knows, please reply. My favorite dishes are the shrimp kew, shrimp with lobster sauce, moo goo gai pan, ah who am i kidding, they're all good. I've tried them all over the years. I just need the tea now and I might be able to hang on until my next visit back to OKC.

This place has been in business as long as I have been eating Chinese food and that is well over 40 years.  Unfortunately I only  became acquainted with Canton in the last few years.  Back in the '70's I lived in Moore and we ate at Ding-Ho's on the southside...  later I was an aficionado of Kit's in Moore.  Now I'm strictly a Canton fan. Canton is the ONLY place I'm aware of that serves all of the entrees that were popular back in the '70's including Almond Duck and Butterfly Shrimp, as well as all the currently popular dishes.... though for one or two, the name is archaic.  Every modern Chinese restaurant has sweet and sour chicken, but 40 years ago it was always called "Hawaiian Chicken" or "Hawaii Guy" as it is still called at Canton.

Food is a matter of personal taste, so you may or may not like Almond Duck.  I do, it is a personal favorite but I have not been able to find it since Kit's went out of business decades ago.  The same with Butterfly Shrimp.  It used to be a staple of Chinese restaurants, but you pretty much can't find it except at Canton... and if you have never tried it, you should. While food in general may be a matter of taste, it seems like some dishes have specific qualities that draw people... so if you love the dish, there is only ONE WAY of doing it right.  That must be true with eggrolls.  If you read enough of these reviews, you'll find people almost unanimously praise Canton's eggrolls.  Yes, they are the best being served anywhere.  Period.  I will say I used to like Kit's 30 years ago better... but it has been so long that nostalgia may be causing me to think so.  But whether Kit's was as good... Canton is the current King of Eggrolls. The fact so many people here agree, even when they sometimes disagree on other elements, tells you something.

Some people here have criticized both the service and the food.  I frankly don't see it.  I guess it is possible that on one day things were off for some reason... or perhaps the reviewer personally had a bad day and Canton caught hell because of it.   I know when I am in a bad mood, I find reasons to dislike things.  But I can tell you I have eaten at Canton many times and have eaten at the far more "upscale" Lido in the Little Saigon area and I can say I find far more variability at Lido, as good as it is, than I find at Canton.  So, maybe there have been problems occasionally.... but frankly I just don't see it.

Perhaps the main issue with the bad reviews is the prominence of good reviews here.  Perhaps people go after reading the reviews thinking they'll be at some world-class Chinese Bistro.  NO.  This is a Mom-and-Pop hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant.  Go to Canton often enough and they'll know you by name and you'll be a member of the family.  Try THAT at a world class "bistro."  You won't be getting artsy-fartsy fancy Chinese.  You'll be getting all of the good-old Chinese American dishes that made the cuisine an American favorite... and all of them perfectly cooked.  You just can't beat the Hawaii Guy or the Sesame Chicken!  Is it high art?  No.  Is it damned good?  Yes... and there is plenty of it.  If you go with the right attitude, this is pretty nearly the perfect Chinese restaurant.

My boyfriend and I eat a lot of Chinese food and this is by far our absolute favorite place to go! He and his family have been going here for years. I went into it having no idea what to expect and it is truly AMAZING! Their egg rolls are the BEST I've ever had! The service is great and they make you feel like you're family. Would absolutely recommend to EVERYONE!

Best egg rolls in town. Best pork fried rice you've ever had. Best sweet and sour chicken in town, too, although they call it "Hawaii Guy". This place looks like a dump from the road but it's been in business about 40 years. The three dishes I mentioned are can't miss.

After reading the reviews, I tried out this little place for lunch... Since have been back numerous times.
Family owned, same friendly waitress doing all tables solo every time I have been. Lunch combo's are all under 5.00 and they are huge... One called the lunch special @ 4.65 has egg roll, chicken chow mein, and garlic chicken wings.
I'd highly recommend this place & it is the truth that they have AMAZING egg rolls.

Go if your reading this!

Little hole in the wall with great food. I can’t appreciate more how well the food tasted freshly made and no added ingredients that weren’t on the menu. Server was great for being the only one serving and everyone in the restaurant was patient with that fact. Good came out hot and delicious!

This place is now our go-to. It’s small and inconspicuous but out of this world. The people are so friendly! Sweet and sour pork is a favorite dish of mine and this is the best I have ever had! The egg drop soup was also fantastic. My kids and partner had beef lo mein, broccoli beef, and sesame chicken and everyone was happy with what they got. This is a bit further from our house and after we left our kids said “I would walk here if I had to.” Also, I was so glad with how clean they are and they were wearing masks. It’s very comforting to eat somewhere that obviously takes health seriously.

A family favorite for 40 years! Best egg rolls I've ever eaten. The Hawaii Guy and Chicken Chow Main is our go to, but I've liked everything I have tried here.

I hadn't been here in over 25 years and truly believe they haven't changed a thing. Same booths, wall art, owner and menu. Price is reasonable, you're almost guaranteed to have leftovers, and the flavor is pretty much like all other Chinese restaurants in Oklahoma. Went for an early dinner and happy to see a broad swath of diners: older couple who've been coming for decades, young family getting what appeared to be everything on the menu - even 2nd generation patrons who knew everyone by name. Yes, there are restaurants with better decors and flavors. Yes, it isn't a place you'd take someone to impress. Yes, it's by all definition a true hole in the wall. But that's what makes it special, nostalgic and downright charming in our cookie cutter world.

My first time here but my girlfriend has been coming here for 50 years with her family. We both got her favorite, combo A: which is egg drop soup, chicken chow mein, fried rice and egg roll. At 2pm Saturday afternoon we had the dimly lite restaurant to ourselves. Quite lobby but you could hear sounds from a busy kitchen. Food was served very hot and very tasty. Will be returning...

I've heard of no one ever speaking poorly of this restaurant and would be suspicious of any negative review. No. I am ONLY a customer of two decades who has never had a bad experience. Not an employee or relative.

This place has amazing food! Their egg rolls are the best egg rolls I've ever had in my life! And all their stir-fry chicken dishes are amazing. On top of that, the family that runs the place makes you feel right at home and are friendly and attentive. Do yourself a favor and try it out! Hidden little gem.
