I love this place! I'm a local and I eat here all the time. Generous portions, friendly staff.
Lunch menu is inexpensive, creative and quick. Try the pineapple pork c:
One of our Favorites!. The Happy Buddah in our area closed a few years ago, so we go here every time we are in Galveston. We have even made the 2 hour drive on more than one occasion, just to vest lunch here. The lunch specials are defiantly the best deal. We always stick with the sweet and sour chicken or pork. The ribs, fried wontons, and wonton soup are also favorites.
Pineapple Pork. Fresh pineapple and a delicious pork, garlic gravy bring this dish together. I'm not kidding when I say I've ordered it over 500 times. Cost is around $9.
The 15 weekday lunch specials ($6.95) are very large portions, everything from fried shrimp to Gen Tso chicken.
They also have a nice bar with a couple TV's if your looking for 'the game'.
Love this place...
I’ve been coming here for decades & while it’s consistently ‘ok’ it has never been my first choice. Knowing what to expect, we decided to eat there the other night & they have definitely upped their game. Enough so that I’m looking forward to the next time we go. Their ‘chili oil’ while being interesting & a great flavor never had any kick to it at all. It does now! Their egg rolls while being on the huge side always seemed soggy & greasy. Not anymore. I don’t think I have ever enjoyed Happy Buddha as much as I did the other night. Trust me when I say we will not wait 6 or 7 months to return.
PS: went last night! Off the chain!!
What a delight!!! We just had the best meal. We are a family of 6 and they were able to seat us quickly. The restaurant has many rooms so it's not noisey or too crowded feeling. It has an intimate vibe. When you enter the restaurant the owner or manager greets you. The waitress Max was awesome. She got our order perfect, made awesome suggestions, she had a difficult table and still kept her composure and great attitude. Our kids felt so special the owner talked with them and treated them as individuals. The food was delicious and for a family our size we were able to eat at an affordable price with everyone being stuffed. What a blessing to have a delicious restaurant with great service to be able to visit again.
The best Chinese food there is in Galveston County! I've tried at least 8-10 different Chinese restaurants all over Galveston County and I hv yet to even find a runner up! SERIOUSLY!!! And now they hv a new hostess, she's so sweet and genuine not to mention beautiful. But it's her attitude that's wins it with me!!!
Whenever you're in Galveston be sure to stop bye and enjoy EVERYTHING from beginning to end...
Tell them TRICKY sent u.
Awesome place, never disappointed at all. Great lunch menu & great dining area. Food is the best Chinese on the island. It's a landmark as well. Islanders have been going here for many years. It's a gem to me. I don't live on the island anymore.. BUT EVERY TIME WE GO MY FAMILY HAS TO EAT HERE!!😋 I CAME TODAY FOR BUSINESS & MY WIFE MADE SURE I PICKED UP SOME FOOD!!! LOVE IT ALWAYS!!!
The was my first visit to the Happy Budda. This place has awesome food and service. The combination meal was enough for two meal and the flavors and presentation of the food very good. Maxine and Matthew waited on us for are every need. I recommend this place if you want awesome meal with great service and great atmosphere. The next time I'm in Galveston I will come back to this restaurant.
Food is tasty and hot. Owner is very friendly and attentive.
The servers are always really polite. The food comes out quick. The food is exactly what you expect. I don't mind getting to go or dining in. They have very good lunch specials. There isn't much Chinese food on the island so this is usually the go to.
The To Go System has been perfect!
I just miss Hardy behind the bar.
It’s always great to go where everybody knows who knows your name!
Happy Buddha has been a mandatory stop for my family for over 20 years. The food is fresh, the service is excellent, and the staff make you feel at home. I recommend anyone who is in Galveston stop by.
Had the #55 rib dinner with shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. Overall was very good, ribs were tender, generous side of fried rice. I’ve only eaten here a handful of times over the past years, never a bad experience.
