We had impromptu dinner since I was craving for Mexican food and find this place on google map.
Zia Taqueria was not busy on Sunday night and we kinda enjoy that.
I had their burrito special with spicy carnitas, sliced jalapeños, black beans and rice and crema sauce. It was so good!
My husband had spicy fish sandwich and the seasoning on the fish was so good. Although, he think the fish will taste better on the taco instead of buns.
Overall, the food is good and also the drinks!
Our waiter, Ella, was nice and attentive.
We'll be back!
Borracha beans amazing. Hatch Chilli stew excellent. Barbacoa excellent. Guacamole best in the Area for 3 years. Service spectacular. Salsa excellent and onion eee. Elote Street corn excellent.
5 Stars are not enough! When I wake up in the morning and know I am eating at Zia Taqueria that day I get excited.
If you are in the Charleston area and want THE best Mexican in the area cross over the Ashley River to Zia.
The fish tacos are simply the best I’ve ever had. Tender white fish matched with soft warm tortillas and a delicious Baja sauce with red cabbage makes for a true trip to Flavortown.
Nachos. The best Nachos I have ever had. What’s the usual problem with nachos? Lack of uniformity when you eat them. Too many ingredients on one chip, not enough on another. Zia Taquira fixes that. Go see how.
Lastly the staff is “lovely.” When I say that I mean it. “Love” is the name of a manager that really brings it all together with her friendly spirit and attentiveness. Virginia is just as lovely and I can’t say enough nice things about her. She’s a treat.
Go try it and you will see why it’s full of locals.
Absolutely delicious. The dining experience was a bit odd to this first timer, as they don't have traditional servers. You go to the counter, order and pay for your food and drinks, and take your drinks to an open table, they then bring your food out to you when it's ready. Aside from that it was an awesome experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and every single thing we ordered was amazing. We will 100% be back, and I actually almost went back the next day. A++++
Favorite spot on a Sunday afternoon for a tasty Mexican bite. I celebrate the entire menu but really love the individually prepared nacho chips. On Sunday’s and Monday’s they are easy to pair with a frozen screwdriver or two. Make sure to keep the chips and salsa coming!
First happened upon Zia in NC near Asheville, great little hopping taco spot. Saw that they had a location in Charleston and had to check it out. Atmosphere was quite nice. My wife and enjoyed some great margaritas from JOSH. We had the taquitos app and that pepper, vegetables pickled relish was to die for when combined with the fresh guac and crema fresh.
Next the tacos!!! Let me just say that if taco bell can sell millions and they suck….Zia couldn’t make tacos fast enough if everyone knew how good these were. Barbacoa and Baja fish were out of bounds delicious. My wife had their portabella mushroom taco and it too was incredible.
Seriously people….just go and have tacos and Tequilla. Perfect place for it in Charleston or the mountains.
Don’t even waste any more time anywhere else.
Keep up the awesome tacos and tequilla Zia!!
This is the best place for tacos on James Island and maybe even Charleston. They have the best margaritas I’ve had in Charleston and on Sunday they do frozen screwdrivers which are perfect after a late Saturday night. We like to stop by Zia on Sunday, grab some frozen screwdrivers and carne asada (tacos, salads, nachos and quesadillas are great with carne asada) and then hit up the farmers market at Pour House for some live music afterwards. Terrace is such a cool area for a low key Sunday.
This was my first time here. I really liked the casual but clean environment. Our order came quickly, and it was delicious. I had a Baja and a Portobello mushroom taco. Both were great.
Great service and food came out quick.i really liked the salsa but I have had it before elsewhere. The Mexican rice was bland, even the items labeled spicy did not bring the heat. Over all 2 tacos, a side or rice and a beer was about 18 bucks. So from a price and service standpoint it was outstanding. Took 1 star for decent flavor, nothing stood out here.
We LOVE what Love is doing here!
I’ve been to Zia twice. Both times pleasantly surprised! As a Mexican with high standards for authentic Mexican food, I especially loved the borracho beans and authentic chips and salsa!
Today Sarah went out of her way to make me a raspberry flavored Margarita that was delicious! And after telling Love that we had just left another Mexican restaurant after being disappointed with that restaurant’s salsa, which tasted like canned tomato sauce and told her we couldn’t end my birthday on that note, she surprised us with a slice of tres leches cake! What awesome customer service!
Top end food and even better service. We will be back ❤️
