I stopped by for a quick drink the other day and was really quite impressed with the place. There were two floors of seating, the bottom housing the bar. The menus are simple but straight to the point. We had some chips and salsa with our margaritas. The salsa was ground perfectly and quite unique to other salsas I've had. I tried their blueberry poblano margarita, which was phenomenal. It added just the right amount of tartness to the drink. The rim was salty and spicy, complementing the rest of the meal. Our waiter was very sweet and accommodating, even the heat. I really liked the simple yet youthful vibe the place gave. I'll be back again soon for dinner!
Four words, Tequila Tuesday and Cemita. That sandwich is on of the best darn things I have ever eaten. And four shots of top shelf tequilla, even better.
Great atmosphere, excellent selection of beer, wine and cocktails and really really good food. We had several tacos - all great, but the flautas were amazing. Muy rico
Who doesn’t like good Mexican fare in a very causal fun environment that has specialty margaritas, tacos, tortas and appetizers? You can go there for a drink, a little food, some of both or whatnot. There’s a great roof top patio area that is nice on a summer evening
A fried corn flour crust filled with loose pork sausage, topped with fresh tomatoes and a shiso leaf.
We popped in for a late lunch and cocktails and I loved everything. Friendly, attentive staff, comfortable bar stools (with bag hooks underneath!) and most importantly delicious food and drinks. Everyone loved it. The tequila and mezcal choices seemed endless.
Great tacos and a nice vibe! There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Good queso fundido and chupacabra burrito!
This place is amazing! Small but cute! Lots of choices to choose from with delicious drinks. I ordered so much when I first went there and it was not disappointing me. This place slowly becomes my go to taco place from now. All the tacos are great because we tried them all lol. I like shrimp the most.
Love this spot! One of the best in the area. I live in the neighborhood so come here often. A great happy hour spot -- the deals typically go until 6pm (food includes tacos, corn elote, chips and salsa/guac, etc. and drinks including discounted margaritas, canned beverages, etc.). The staff is always friendly, professional, and are great all around. The atmosphere and vibes are great; very cozy setting that has always been warm on chilly days, with nice lighting.
There is typically either some form of outdoor seating open. There is the second floor rooftop bar (protected/covered for weather but still gets some nice light and views... I always sit up there and its my favorite spot). There are also some tables/chairs arranged outside, depending on the day/time, which my roommates and I like to take the dog to!
Service was great. I love the overall vibe of the restaurant. The elote and chips and guacamole are really good. My favorite tacos were the pescado tacos (fried salmon). The flavors were perfect. The asada and pollo tacos needed more flavor. I added guacamole and salsa to them and they were better. The drinks are well made and the menu was great. I’d definitely return to try some other menu items!

Come in here for a drink (or as many as you can handle) but also stay here for the food. Awesome tequila and mezcal served by friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. What more could you ask for.
Haven’t had a bad thing on the menu and the food is usually very quick.
Fun neighborhood spot that is now also open late night.
Authentic Mexican-style street tacos in charming Columbia Heights! The selection of tacos, tequilas, and tortas make this a great place to relax and people-watch while dining outside at their sidewalk tables. The robust tequila selection alone makes this a great choice for lunch just steps from the Metro.
Finding a new place to eat is always an adventure in itself. For a late dinner, we chance upon El Chucho. One cannot go wrong with Mexican cuisine. The menu may be short, but the food is good. I enjoyed a fresh vegetarian burrito with cooked mushrooms and peppers. Although the table ordered a side of rice and beans, I was well satiated with the burrito alone. My sisters ordered different taco dishes: one with seasoned chicken and the other a seared Mahi Mahi. The tacos come in a set of two. Although the shells are petite, the tacos are layered well with fresh ingredients.
EL Chucho has a long list of alcoholic concoctions. Additionally, they feature homemade soda ranging from tropical flavors to mixes with spicy pepper notes.
Overall, the restaurant is pleasant to try. They have plenty of outdoor seating.
Beautiful restaurant with nice decorations. My white sangria was really good thevtacos were really yummy.
Everything is delicious here. Simple and fairly priced Mexican fare. Good cocktails (although the Michelada was a little weaker in terms of flavor). You can't go wrong with any of the tacos, but the fish and octopus varieties really stand out. Lacking a bit of heat but you can just ask for hot sauce.
Still a classic joint, and the terrasse is lovely in the springtime and summer.
