My mom, sister, niece and I stumbled upon the Boro for breakfast during our visit to Swansboro. My sister and I both got the breakfast sandwich, my niece had crepes, and my mom ordered an omelet. I also got a mimosa and my sister had a mojito. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered, so much so that we returned that evening for dinner. In the evening, we had poutine as an appetizer before ordering the citrus tuna, bolognese, steak skewers, caesar salad, and a kid's burger. For dessert, we shared the caramel nut pie. Again, everything was fabulous. Quintin served us both times (we specifically requested him the second time because he's so awesome - give that man a raise!) I would definitely recommend this place over every other place we ate in Swansboro (including their sister restaurant, which had great service and good food, but not as good).
The service and food were amazing. Our server was phenomenal with my 10 month old daughter last night. She was fussy at one point and he came over and entertained her. I have never had a server do that before. He even checked to see if a neighboring restaurant had a high chair for her. Most other restaurants seem annoyed with children but this one was very kind and compassionate. I will definitely be back!
Delicious food and I love the ducks that wander the patio!
We are a little disappointed that they discontinued the bourbon street scallop pasta, it was our favorite! But I've heard that their cajun pasta has a similar sauce, so we are excited to go back and try that!
The Boro is one of our go to restaurants. We’ve been coming here for years and not one bad memory. No complaints. The ambience is perfect. Set in downtown Sawnsboro near the White Oak River. They have a good selection of beer and wine. The service is consistently great. The food is outstanding and creative. You’ll find dishes here that are unique and flavorful. Stuff you’ve never heard of like putting watermelon in their shrimp and grits.
Their lunch and diner menus are different. Once you try this place once, make sure on your second visit to try the opposite menu.
Highly recommend.
First time here. Low country boil and shrimp po boy were FANTASTIC!!! We live an hour away but will definitely be back. Beautiful views, great staff, yummy food. What more can you ask for?
Live music with E-Squared. Wonderful spot with patio heaters outside. Fantastic service. And they swapped out the shrimp for chicken in the curry due to my allergy.
My parents are quite the fans of this restaurant and frequent it often when they are at their vacation spot. They highly recommend us to The Boro. They enjoy all the food options and the live bands.
I am drooling thinking about the scallop risotto and cannot wait to visit again! My partner got the chicken sandwich and fries and also really enjoyed it!
It was a stormy day when we went so we will definitely be returning on a nicer day to eat and enjoy the band.
My daughter and I stopped in today just for a light lunch. I just had to come home and write a review. We ordered the most amazing Tomato Basil soup and a Pimento grilled cheese. I can honestly say I have never had a better soup or sandwich. Both were made with a flavor that goes beyond any I have ever had.
The wait staff was as sweet as could be and the atmosphere was quiet and cozy. We will definitely be back! Way to go chef!!
Went here for the first time last night. I got the pesto-pecan crusted grouper and mom got the shrimp and grits. Both meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. I also tried the mango blueberry cocktail and it was good. Our waitress was really nice too :).... 10/10 would visit again.

The staff was kind of helpful! The food was ultra delicious! Outside seating was breezy and sunny but set low so that it wasn't aggressively windy that close to the water. The appetizers were above and beyond delicious! The chef's seafood platter was very lightly seasoned I would recommend exchanging wilder rice as a side for something else.
Stopped for lunch on our way to Emerald Isle from Wilmington. They won a wine spectator award for their wine selections in 2023, and being wine people, that sealed the deal for us. We arrived to see many open tables but a 20 minute wait for first available, but we could have a drink at the bar. No problem, wait staff is hard to find. I get it. We enjoyed a sparkling cava at the bar and then got our table. The hostess sat us down saying someone would be right over. We looked at the menu while we waited for our server. 10 minutes later, I went up to the hostess to ask if anyone was assigned to our table. Oh sorry, yes, someone would be right there. Meanwhile a busser and one of the 5 servers had been by our table without any acknowledgement as we clearly made eye contact with them. Service was disappointing. But the seared tuna, beet salad, and seafood cakes were excellent. The unoaked chardonnay paired very well with our meal. We'll be back, but understand for a restaurant that espoused wine, food and hospitality on the web, they kind of fell down on the hospitality. In the future, for lunch if we have to wait, we'll just eat at the bar. Cheers!
Afternoon well-spent! So I have been meaning to take a day and actually eat in the area and enjoy what it has to offer. I took a young lady here for a first date and it lived up to its hype! Good food and service and was genuinely fresh! The prices were reasonable and the parking wasn't that bad either. (Was there from 1 to 3pm) Genuinely happy I went FINALLY... They have an outdoor seating area that is really nice and good beer on tap as well. Go for the Mahi tacos! The pita chips were great! They came with the crab dip that was topped with fresh shredded Parmesian and Asiago. Her shrimp burger looked great and was a decent amount of food. I would say they should do fries not potato chips but that's just me. A good choice as far as lunch or dinner though. I should have visited sooner... So Instigator fishing and diving charters keeps their boats on the pier/dock close by and is where I worked as a mate. (If you fish or dive check them out) so early mornings and too tired at the end of the day to do anything in the area is why Ive been here so often but never genuinely participated in the local brewhaha and what not. I'll be back though TO EAT AND DRINK... Constance was our waitress and fantastic! Music is live Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays year round and starts at 7. Enjoy!
