Went to the Carmal Mountain restaurant and our ribeye steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Ordered a house salad instead of the salad that comes with the meal and was able to select a second side in place of the meal salad. Perfect serving size to split with my sweetie. Topped it off with a "to-die-for carrot cake, which we split also. Wonderful meal to celebrate my birthday!
I love this place and have lunch often. Love to sit at the bar and my server is always Arianne. Her customer service skills are nothing less than amazing.
Stellar Service
Spotty service was once the bane of this otherwise accomplished restaurant. Recent visits confirm a whole new approach and attitude. The manager visited our table twice. Server, Edna, was above and beyond. Great food, prepared and presented well.

Menu has a nice variety of choices from steaks to salads, and burgers. Also a nice variety on the children's menu.
So lunch was delicious we ate on the patio, which was not so good they are doing construction and it was loud.
I had the tri-tip sandwich the meat was really good. Service was excellent.
Dinner was good also they were very busy, my only complaint is our meal did not come out all at once. The salad and kids meal came out and than it was another 5 minutes plus before everyone else meal came out.
Overall we would eat here again. Prices are reasonable.
Watch for 'special order' as cooks seem VERY literal! My chopped salad was pulverized in a food processor until confetti-sized! Tasty, but that sliced chicken virtually disappeared!
Wished I had found this restaurant 2 trips ago to this area. Great decor, food was perfect and Gina behind the bar could not have been more pleasant.
A good choice.. Overall, good, comfortable atmosphere. I especially like that most of the seating consists of booths along the wall.
Food is very good with generous portions. Prices moderate, decent value. I did get cold food, though on more than one occasion. I noticed that the cook's timing is a bit off. French fries were hot but not baked potato. So obviously the potato got cold while waiting for the fries. This also happened at the Costa Mesa restaurant. This is still a good choice and the staff are very nice.

Mostly fabulous. Appetizer platter excellent, beer excellent, service really excellent, sides and sauce excellent. chicken breast tough and dry. Couldn't believe that after everything being so good that the chicken would be overcooked. My brother warned us that the portions are huge and that they always get two full meals off every order. This was true as I carried the rest of my dinner on my flight to Nashville the next morning. I gave the chicken to the dog after I scraped the really good sauce off it.
Claim jumper has all American food and a fun California gold rush theme. The the waiters are friendly and the menu has a wide selection of food that could fit any ones taste buds.

Was visiting my son at UCSD not so long ago when we decided to go out for a late lunch at Claim Jumper at this location. Food was great as always but service was not what I expected. Somebody took our order and forgot about us (restaurant had only a few tables occupied) until I complained about our missing drinks and bread. Service improved after that with no further incident. Food was great while service not so great at the begining of our visit. Prices are a bit high.
I will this with mixed feelings. The food was delicious and the waiter was courteous & attentive.
However the dinner started off on a negative note by the hostesses. We walked in right before 5pm and gave the hostess our name. She told us it will be only 5-10 min. We waited about 20 minutes before asking the hostess how much longer. They had skipped our name in the list. They sat us immediately but did not apologize for the mistake. It was a little upsetting.

Happy Hour till 9:30 pm! Say what?!? I can't believe that there's such a thing. We ordered few appetizers and ordered our drinks with no shame.
- Spinach Artichoke Dip with enough chips and bread for $6 was too good.
- $10 Happy Hour Sampler includes Buffalo Wings, onion rings, loaded skins, and mozzarella cheese was banging with flavor.
- Lemon Pepper Zucchini for $4 is a must have. It was really really really good.
Our waitress was awesome!
Ordering Happy Hour alcohol from her was very pleasant, and she was very helpful. Eventhough I ordered a shot second time around and requested it to be on the rocks. She gave me no judgment and replied with "Of course, we could do that for you."
We were definitely happy during those hours!
Bartender/waiter Pete was great! Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Drinks were good! (Happy hour is always good). Atmosphere was comfortable! Give it 2 thumbs up!
Stopped in for dessert, at the Carmel Mt Claim Jumper. We had wonderful service in the bar/lounge area. Our server suggested we try the Berry Butter Cake and oh my, it was delicious. It was kind of like if a strawberry shortcake and a muffin had a scrumptious baby. We'll definitely be back soon for another dessert date!
One of the Best Dips I've ever had! I couldn't even finish half of it and the onion rings were Great as well! We will Definitely be back. Great place for a Family night out.
Great service you would expect from Claim Jumper Restaurants. We drove down from Temecula as our location has closed. The food is just as good. The menu has changed slightly, but I guess that is to be expected. The manager was great also. He walked and noticed we needed a refill and went and got it.
The server was attentive to the little details. The Lobster tail succulent and tender. Lobster mac n cheese is my new favorite. A bit on the pric-eee side but well worth it.
Carmel mountain CJ has a Great food with a relaxed atmosphere and the service from Edna was excellent. Must try the black and blue beer mix
Large portions. Great atmosphere. I mean where else can you get a 'slice' of cake with 1.5 days worth of suggested calorie intake?
