Fairly good. The most striking aspect of Stratford Proper was the atmosphere. We dined outside in their tent (it's December), and they had heaters (though I still kept my coat on), and festive garlands and lights.
I got the Smokehouse Burger, which was a special that night. It was a standard burger with bacon, bbq sauce, and french onions -- the bottom bun was slightly soggy, and the bacon wasn't very crisp. But otherwise, it was good. It came with crispy shoestring fries.
My friend got the other special, a cacio e pepe pasta with pepper and garlic. It was very good; you can tell that the pasta is homemade.
I was a little disappointed in the dessert; they had only an Earl Grey tea cake, which did sound delicious, but I was hoping for more variety.
Delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. We originally sat outside on their beautiful patio, only to get hit by a sudden thunderstorm! They promptly moved us inside & everyone had a good attitude about it. Food was really good, tastes very fresh & home made. I got the Bistro burger & my fiancé got the smokehouse, both were really good. If I were to get a burger again I would do the smokehouse! Very friendly & accomodating staff. Definitely will return. 😃
Also if you’re 21+ the whispers of the primordial sea is now my new favorite.
Went for a brunch today and took the puppy dog with us. The covered outdoor area is pet friendly and we had a blast. The waitress was so nice and sweet and helpful, she adored our puppy and made us feel so welcomed! Will absolutely be going back again! Food was delicious as well.
I highly recommend the Stratford burger. Clam chowder was okay, but there was no bread bowl option. If you want great clam chowder, do yourself a favor and go to Quincy Market in Boston.
What a great experience! Very yummy, and our server was fun to chat with. I will be back to try everything else on their menu. Hush Puppies, Beet Salad and Roasted Veggies were all delicious, and big enough portions to share. It would either be dangerous or amazing to live in this neighborhood.
Ohhhh... how devastated were we when Per Noi moved out?! [they just moved a few blocks away. phew!] Then Stratford Proper came in... one of the many Proper spots [others include Avenues Proper, Proper Brewing, Proper Burger]... anyways, this Proper opened, unlike any of the other Proper concepts and wow! Just wow! Perfect neighborhood brunch, lunch, dinner, all-the-time eatery! And if you did not know… Proper makes their own beer.
Adorable little place located in the heart of Sugar House, hidden withen a neighborhood. High quality food, can be considered a bit pricey and excellent service. Can't wait to come back in the summer and enjoy other menu items and a drink outside. Next time I'm not driving;)!
Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy my meal. But tbh maybe I was a little let down, I was expecting a WOW. And got good . Will I go back? Sure. Most likely will. I really want to tey the breakfast
Great space, menu, and beer. The fresh baked partries and espresso were a nice addition.
I went here with my family to celebrate my birthday dinner. I chose it based on their menu posted on their website; there were a couple of food and drink items that I really wanted to try. Unbeknownst to me, they changed their menu recently, but didn't update it online. The dishes and cocktails that I was looking forward to ordering were not available, so I was a little disappointed. What I ended up choosing was good, but nothing special; a BLT and fries. I really wanted the Cacio de Pepe. The portions were decent, the prices were reasonable, the server was great.
