Luna's has a wonderful, small venue vibe, a diverse but not overwhelming menu of food and drinks - including vegetarian options (my gluten and dairy challenged friends have no problems here) - and is very reasonably priced. The talent that performs here includes both local & international artists and the cover charge usually hovering around $6-7. Our proprietor, Art, is a real asset to our community.
For a $6 cover, we enjoyed awesome music all evening long. The Cups were so wonderful (as usual) and David Houston and String Theory brought the house down. It's a very small place so if you're going on a music night, go early and have dinner. Their menu isn't big but what they do have is reasonable priced and delicious. I almost didn't post this review because I want to keep this little gem to myself!
Standing room only for an incredible night of spectacular Jazz. Felt like I was in a Paris nightclub. Thank you for bringing in the talent Luna’s cafe, you rock!!!!!
Went to hear a friend play music. That was amazing.
Hadn't been in years...very small.
Enjoyed Guacamole and Chips. More on the Menu to be enjoyed at another time.
Friendly Staff. Pleasant Atmosphere.
Funky Place.
Located in Midtown Sacramento....parking can be challenging.
The bands are great
There's a cover charge it goes to the musians....
The more people that come the more money the musians make and that means your supporting your local artists. Helping them to achieve their musical goals in life....
This has been my best brunch experience since moving to Philly. I came to have a calm lunch with someone and this is the type of place you can ease into Saturday at. KC our waitress had us laughing the whole time. What a fantastic experience.
Luna's is a huge part of Sacramento music history, the food is awesome, and the staff are too. Definitely catch a show or go grab a beer and some food.
You're always welcomed and respected by the staff who are warm, friendly, attentive and go out of their way for you. I had special food needs and the kitchen worked with them, no problem. I love the atmosphere at Luna's, like today and bygone days at the same time. And mine host Art Luna is an unforgettable master host. Also, there is new talent to be seen nearly every night of the week at Luna's, trying out new material and ways to bringing art to the populace. You can get a little bit of an "underground' or "ahead of the times" feeling with Luna stage offerings--warm and unforgettable. I recommend the experience.
Art Luna and staff make this place a five-star experience, if you expect an informal, easy-going atmosphere with made-to-order smoothies and deli-style sandwiches. I have only visited during lunch. Timings on food can vary. Today everything was ready, for me, in five minutes. Other times, it can take longer. The equipment in the place feels well-worn, a bit tired, but the atmosphere was welcoming and good-spirited.
Simply put Luna's cafe is the best thing going on on a monday night. For next to nothing i can get some pretty decent coffee and kick back and enjoy some of Sacramento's most talented young musicians jam away within feet. Spend a bit more and i can get a nice meal along with a refreshing beverage and I'm a pretty happy lady. The cafe is fairly small and that's the biggest and possible only issue with it. The staff are great people, often the patrons are great people. I give it a respectable 4/5.
Went here on an open mic comedy night. The comedians where a mixed bag of mediocre to terrible (with maybe a couple decent ones thrown in). In fact the heckler was a hell of a lot funnier than the host.
That said, other than being a little on the expensive side, the cafe itself was actually pretty decent.

Art Luna has consistently been top-rated for Best Open-Mic in SNR for, decades. It is a multicultural hub for artists poets musicians and full spectrum original talent going on into its forth decade. Beer-wine some tasty snacks in an intimate setting, I can't even fathom Sacramento without Luna's. It is a favorite for reasons you'll need to discover for yourself. And if you're not inspired by what you see& hear there, lo siento, my friend, and I hope you come around.
