If you want a quaint, homemade and delicious meal, Amelia's is for you! We love to sit outside in the patio area. Their salsa and chips are yummy. The sauces they use for their enchiladas are amazing. I'm so glad we found this place!
Good Tex-Mex food and really good margaritas. I like their cheese enchiladas. Their chips are so so. That can really break a Mexican restaurant. I forget to go here sometimes. They are good at handling groups. Had a company party here once.
Tex- Mex Fix. Always satisfies our desire for good Tex-Mex food. Their house margaritas are good but, hey the top shelf margaritas are great and very affordable. Favorites we highly recommend are the spicy Guiso de Puerco, Plato de Barbacoa, Fajitas, Guiso de Nopales, and Chile Relleno filled with cheese.
The happy hour margaritas were delicious! Also, I have never been so full from a taco salad.
Yum!. Went there on a whim a few weeks back, as we hadn't yet. We were surprised how good it was and will be back!
Best Mexican food I've ever had.. I hit the jack pot when I ventured to this place... I swear on everything I am addicted to their tacos. They are the best "street tacos" I have had ever, and I have eaten Mexican food all over the U.S. Not to mention they have amazing servers, and the price is unbeatable. A lunch or dinner with my tacos is under $5. The steak is moist and flavorful, and their salsa is to die for. Homemade tortillas and chips and I've never had better. Everyone there knows me and has my order down before I even sit down... :)
Anyone I have ever taken to this place falls in love with it. The quesodillas and fajitas are amazing and so are the enchiladas. The happy hour specials are great and also dont break the bank. They have live music on the weekends and you might want to get there early so you can find a seat. I eat here at least 2-3 times a week . I absolutley love this place and take all my friends and family here to enjoy it.
Ok But Not Great. The food at Amelias Cocina Mexicana was ok but nothing to make me want to return. There are so many excellent Mexican restaurants in the area that offer better food and service. Amelias is an attractive restaurant and there are many good reviews to recommend it. This is neither a good or bad review because it wasn't horrible. It just was not as good as other places in the Garland/ Rowlett/ Richardson area.
It is an authentic Mexican restaurant in a very nice atmosphere. I tried it once, and had to go back the next day!
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!. My husband and I went to Amelia's for my birthday this past weekend. We did not have high expectations, as the last few mexican restaurants we have tried have tasted like TV dinners. However, this place was a pleasant surprise. You can tell that all of the food is homemade that day. I ordered the flauta plate and it was fantastic! Even the rice was really good, and I do not like rice. I think this is the best restaurant in Rowlett. It is now our "go-to" restaurant.
I LOVVVE IT. I love Amelia's. The food is absolutely delicious. The menu is not completely Tex-Mex and has a very authentic taste to it. The drinks are strong and cheap!! The tortillas are some of the best I've ever had. They are hand-made and you can really taste the difference. One of the best Mexican food restaurants in Rowlett!!!

The server today was fantastic. He was the only server at the time and had 5 tables. He bounced around from table to table and it seemed all of us were getting great service.
I had the combo today and it was better than the food we had last time. The brisket was moist and full of flavor. The sour cream chicken enchilada was delicious. The sauce was rich and seasoned well. I will definitely have this dish again.
Oct 2019 They had good margaritas but that's where the good stopped. The chips were hard and thick. Even after a couple of batches. The food needed more spices and was like warm when it arrived. None of the 3 of the us were crazy about our food. The rice and beans were decent. The gordita I had was thin and sliced weird. The chicken in the enchilada was bland and it tasted like it was boiled. But the sour cream sauce was good. The taco meat was ok. The worst issue with the meal was the service. She got 2 of the 3 orders wrong and it was very slow service. When we complained about the chips she said she would have the manager make a fresh batch. And she did. But we expected the manager to come ask about them. One of my friends had been there with her husband a few months ago and had a better experience. But based on this one, none of us will return.
So delicious! Who ever the chef was he or she did a fantastic job! And the bartender was on point! Money well spent! Service was great!
The service was a little slow, but the food was great, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. So if you are wanting a nice, relaxed evening... it is perfect!
This is my go-to sit-down Mexican food spot. Enchiladas are on point. Servers have been helpful and attentive every time. Their takeout is just as delicious, but I enjoy being served a cold cocktail as well.
The good was good. The only negative thing I have is the rice and beans were cold. Seems to happen at every Mexican restaurant I visit.
Our waiter was very attentive.
Delicious food and very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back. There are so many options on the menu! Mind boggling.
