I first heard of Drift Dough though social media and decided to check it out. They have unique flavors for donuts such as Chai Tea, Cotton candy, Thai Tea, Pomegranate Raspberry and more. These types of flavors first attracted me to Drift Dough to begin with. To be honest, the donuts are underwhelming compared to places like Krispy Kreme and Bloedows. The donuts to be seem really dry and often times the flavors arent really there or anything like what they are named, save for the Orange Dreamsicle which is my personal favorite. Hopefully down the road the donuts are improved upon, but they're not horrible. Interestingly enough, my favorite part of Drift Dough is the Nitro Cold Press coffee they offer. I usually have to drown my coffee in creamer but with the Nitro I don't have to add anything at all. Pricing is more than fair, the staff are always smiling, and that's more than enough to keep me coming back.
Hands down the best donuts in town, vegan or otherwise. Few places in town are worth going out of your way for, but Drift Dough is a heavy hitter and makes Rochester taste great. I get mine to go and eat them in the studio or office with my coffee. Glad to see them in their new home at Old Abe’s.
They rip through doughnuts so fast that you had better not sleep in if you want the best selection. The cold brew coffee is hands down the best I've had in Rochester! The doughnuts are fresh and delicious. If I had any complaint it would be how long the wait it was to get donuts. But then again they are new and crazy busy still working out the Kinks I would imagine. My suggestions would be to have little signs on the tray of donuts on the front counter telling you what each donut is instead of each person having to ask about every single donut. And maybe to have the line form across the front counter instead of back up through the door. Overall great experience and we will be back!!!
Absolutely delicious donuts, yes with vegan options, just ask for daily varieties. Remember there isn't one type of donut - these are more cake like, with a soft crumbly interior, very dense, substantial and filling. I thought they were very flavorful and perfectly made. The lemon poppy seed glaze was tartly divine. Lots of coffee options with dairy free / vegan options (oat, soy, coconut milk). Had an iced lavender latte and hot chai latte with oat milk, very very good. Also the decor is phenomenal..lots of little nooks and crevices to sit at, beautiful sort of retro meets artsy vibes. Also has a cute gift shop with unique trinkets like soap, jewelry, coasters, artwork, t-shirts and painted rocks etc. Cannot wait to visit again.
My favorite donuts by far!! They always have a lovely selection of flavors and the staff are always super pleasant.
Beautiful and delicious donuts, with interesting and always-changing flavors! You can never try just one. Local coffee is another perk, along with loads of espresso options.
Tasty doughnuts, some quality vegan options too. Coffee was quite good. I appreciate the reasonable size of the doughnuts (can't scarf down massive doughnuts at my age 😉). The place has a funky vibe. We'll be back.
I'd say Drift Dough is one of Rochester's best-kept secrets, but the fact that they almost always sell out of doughnuts before the end of the day suggests that I'm not the only person who knows how lucky we are to have a bakery that offers inventive flavors, gluten-free and vegan options, and delicious coffee drinks to boot. If you're vegan, I highly recommend the coconut doughnut - it's not a consolation prize by any stretch of the imagination.
