Ramen spot has exceeded my expectations! I've been about 8 times since they have opened. From the moment you step in the door, you enter a warm environment where the staff is genuinely happy to have you. If you have a large party, be sure to arrive early as seating is limited! I've come in with one other friend and it's sometimes a wait. Now, the real stuff!
The ramen is excellent! The Tonkotsu was the first dish I tried. The flavors were incredible. The creamy broth stars a rich pork flavor, subtle notes of sweet, and the traditional kombu finish. Topped with a half egg, rounds of pork, green onions, and more, this dish comes together and blows my mind - time and time again. Be sure to get an order of the Tokoyaki for a starter!
The spicy miso ramen is good. The mild is good (IE ya can tell there is spice in it) and if you are used to spicy food you should be fine handling medium or hot and not be disappointed. Plus the staff is nice. PS RS this is Settom Bock btw ;) :P
Many of the appetizers and sides are as good as the ramen.
This place is located around the VCU campus. It has a lot of young crowd. The place allowed me to get bubble tea from the shop nearby and have it in their restaurant. The servers were very friendly and explained me things as I wanted no meat option. They made sure that I am ordering no meat option only. I loved the taste of ramen. The best ramen I had in the entire Richmond Downtown area.
Best Ramen in the Richmond area. Affordable but well executed dishes. From their gyoza, chicken karaage, shrimp tempura and off course, ramen. You can personalize your ramen any way you like. We've made quick friends with the staff and the restaurant has a small and cozy atmosphere. We'll keep coming back here for their delicious fare. We also recommend the katsu curry.
The ramen here is alright, wouldn’t say it’s anything over the top but the pork in the Shoyu Ramen was very tender and flavorful. The egg is over cooked for ramen in my opinion. I think they should be a little runny in ramen but it was pretty good. I also got the Gyudon though and I will say that saved it. Really reminded me of sukiya, which is a good thing. This is a place I’d go back to for the Gyudon 100%
Been wanting to check this spot out for lunch a while. Once in there, the atmosphere was of a traditional Ramen spot, calm environment and limited seating (25 ppl n under comfortably, so expect a possible wait of you come with a big group around peak time).
Food: Having lived in Japan for 3 years, my taste buds have been very critical of any Japanese style food since then. And trust me, this place did not disappoint!! The beef gyoza’s texture was spot on and very tasty. I ordered the Spicy Miso and told the waiter to make mines extra spicy and he looked at me like I lost my mind lol. It came out aesthetically looking good and the taste was literally fire!! I’m talking nose running, eyes watering, yet you can’t stop eating! My kids got the regular Miso and they loved it! My wife got the Curry ramen and she said the taste was spot on!! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic ramen in Richmond 👍🏽
Quaint corner Ramen spot in the heart of VCU Fan district. A welcome rainy day respite of hot Ramen soup.
As far as ramen places go, this one is a go. Great ramen at decent prices, quick service and overall nice experience.
The menu has good selection of both appetizers and various ramen dishes. I chose the staple, cha shu ramen with extra egg, and fried squid and popcorn chicken for appetizers. I've had better popcorn chicken elsewhere, but the accompanying sauce was tasty, and the squid was excellent.
Ramen itself had very good broth, nice noodles, and unremarkable, but tasty pork. All other ingredients played well into the flavors. I only wish I asked for more scallions, but everything was tasty and fresh.
Overall, great experience.
Amazing food and the waiters are very friendly and helpful!! I do not eat pork and alot of the ramen on the menu came with pork bone broth, so our waiter gave me the option to have regular veggie broth, soo thankful for that! I ordered veggie gyozas and chicken katsu ramen with substituted veggie broth.. 10/10 for flavor and it was a good portion, very filling. The restaurant is small on the inside, not ideal for a big group but thats how most local ramen shops are lol. Also great music playlist here, if you like kpop you will be jamming during your meal :)
Little hole in the wall spot just on the corner of the street. Not a huge place, nicely decorated. It has a nice ambiance to it. Kind of place you go and everyone knows you. They had a good selection of dishes to choose from. They also have lunch specials for lunch time. Prices are reasonable for the serving sizes. The staff is attentive and polite. The food was delicious and was authentic.
Best ramen restaurant, and honestly best Asian cuisine I've had the pleasure of experiencing in a long while!💯 Best I've found in the state to date!!🤩 I'm eager to try more things they have on the menu next time I go too🤤 So many delightful options; it was hard to choose which to pick for my first time there😋 Fantastic food, great price, and wonderful service with friendly staff🥰 So very happy I finally got the chance go stop by here🙌🏻 11/10, will be back again!!😁
