I ordered the La Mian and found it was visually appealing and tasty. Surprisingly, I found it slightly lacking in depth of flavor/spices. I got medium spice but I could barely taste spice — that might be a me problem, though, so I’ll try spicy next time I go and update my review accordingly!
The service was faster than expected — they are efficient with taking orders which is nice. The prices are reasonable for the big portion size. It was a bit difficult to carry the soup somewhere to eat as the container leaks a little.
I have been wanting to try Stretch The Noodle for years now and finally stopped in when they didn’t have a crazy line. The La Mian is absolutely incredible. The broth is delicious, the noodles have a really nice consistency and are fresh, and the big chunks of beef and vegetables are perfect. This might be the best meal I’ve had at any cart in downtown and is definitely one of the best in Portland.
This food cart is amazing. I would go here weekly if I could. We had the la mian and biang biang noodles. The la mian soup was delicious. Make sure to ask for vinegar to add to your soupy noodles. You'll be happy to add it for the added layer of flavors. The biang biang noodles were also good. There's only an option of medium or spicy. The medium was pretty spicy. I'd recommend getting medium if unless you are a spice master and no spiciness can phase you. Also, the nopdles come in a huge portion. We recommend eating them there if possible. Theyre not good when reheated. The soup has options of mild, medium, and spicy. The mild and medium was not as spicy as the medium for the biang biang noods.
Seating is limited. They have a little bar area that you can stand and eat at if you really want to eat while you're there.
The soup with dumplings was AMAZING! The noodles are springy and chewy, the veggies are fresh, the dumplings are wonderfully savoury, and the soup is so comforting on a cold day. I got it spicy and loved it, it’s perfect for someone like me who loves lip tingling spice. It’s definitely not for the spice novice though, so make sure you can handle a strong chili oil before you have this made spicy. The dish is 12$, and you get a hefty portion; you will not be hungry after finishing it! It’s the kind of food that makes you take a happy nap afterwords.
The owners were so kind and you can tell they put love into this food. Can’t wait to be back, Portland is so lucky to have Stretch the Noodle!
Stretch the noodle is a good truck that serves hand pulled noodles! And they are so good! You get a meal that is good for 2 people in my opinion.. I couldn’t finish it in one sitting.. I would definitely return
The noodles are delicious. If you’re not into spicy food, even the medium might be too strong for you. The portions are HUGE. Seriously consider sharing with another person. I would happily pay the same price for 30% smaller portion.
This was the highlight of our trip. Although, truth be told we could have shared just one of these… I’m glad we tried both. So fresh and we can watch the noodles being stretched right before they cooked them. The couple who made our food were very sweet and projected such a kind atmosphere. I’d give them 7 stars instead of 5 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
