I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Steel Cactus staff and leadership team at the South Side location on East Carson Street. My fiance and I held our couple's shower upstairs, and not only was it a beautiful day on the patio with the nice weather, but EVERY guest was so happy and pleased with the service that was provided to us. The food was great, the bartender Kevin was PHENOMENAL (and makes the BEST white sangria, even gave us his recipe!) and we truly had the most wonderful time. Sarah Masterson of AMPD Group, the managing company for Steel Cactus, was incredibly accommodating and simply the best party planner you'll ever meet -- I highly recommend that you hold your next event here. The flexibility we had in decorating the place, and customizing the space to fit our needs, is simply unmatched in the city of Pittsburgh. Whether you're looking to hold an event or simply finding a good spot for eating out with friends and family, you can't pass up Steel Cactus!

Fast, friendly service....fair prices. For a burrito named "De Muerte", it was not particularly spicy/hot....and NOT especially hot, temperature wise. The burrito itself was a bit thick in some places, and a little tough. This is not to say it wasn't tasty, it was.... Just the few things I mentioned dropped the whole experience a star. Definitely still recommend the restaurant though!
I have been here several times before, but each time was disappointing until tonight. The service I had previously experienced was atrocious, but our waitress Corynn was phenomenal. Not a single server before had told me the rice that comes with meals had a chicken broth on it (which is why I always felt sick after eating there since I'm a vegetarian) and I really appreciated her asking. The food was awesome and reasonably priced. I will for sure be coming back!
Excellent happy hour and daily specials! The two of us came here for Taco Tuesday special where they serve custom tacos for $2.50 each and house margaritas for $5. The tacos were delicious and the margaritas were good. The happy hour also was an added bonus with 1/2 off appetizers. Happy hour runs 5-7 Monday through Friday. Worth checking out the spot for some good food. Certainly will be back. Service was average but I don't expect much out of some places in South Side. As long as we are taken care of its good for me, unless it's at a higher end location...
I love this restaurant. Huge dining area, well decorated with a Mexican theme. They also have an upper level with a balcony area and bar where you also eat and drink at. The server was awesome, very friendly, and funny. The nachos are to die for. I couldn't even finish it all because I was so stuffed. I honestly think this is the best Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh hands down!! I will be visiting more often!
The prices were good, but the pitcher of margaritas we got weren't mixed at all and they added club soda? As a filler I think? All in all it was okay, but there's other places I'd go first.
