The best ice cream.......*****
Love the chocolate flavor.
Employees are super friendly.
as always, a great visit. 4 employees behind the counter, all very courteous, prompt service.. And smiles all around. We try to end a bicycling night with some Ice Cream, before we pedal over that 31st St. Bridge.
A pharmacy turned ice cream parlor. Very nostalgic located in the strip district.
Such an odd experience! It seems like they were understaffed for a Saturday. When we walked in, there were no instructions, and it was hard to understand how it worked. I told the person at the register that it was our first time, and they just said “OK”. Turns out you need to walk over to read the menus on the wall, which have no prices, and then go back to the register to order. By the time we figured out where the sign with the flavors was, there were already about ten new customers who had arrived after us but gotten in line to order before before us.
Then they staggered the orders, so people who had ordered after us were served first. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for two ice creams. It felt pretty chaotic! I think they could use some updating to the whole space, some better flow behind the bar, and additional help on the weekends! The one person behind the bar was understandably very stressed out. She kept dropping Sundays and having to add more toppings to make up for what had spilled out. Hopefully it was just a bad day, which I understand everybody has. Wishing them continued success!
Excellent place for ice cream. Lots of history since it will turn 100 years old soon. The back wall has artifacts from the shops early days as a pharmacy that had an ice cream and soda fountain counter.
Sheena and her staff helped us celebrate a family event. There were 16 of us all at once. Add the other customers it was amazing to see her and her staff put together all of our ice cream request.
I really love the old-fashioned nostalgic atmosphere at Klavon’s. It’s one of my favorite ice cream parlors in Pittsburgh. I also really enjoy that they have vegan options for people who may be sensitive to dairy. I also really love that they serve coffee as well. I always get a decaf Americano. Another great aspect about Klavon’s is that they have a large assortment of candy and soda to appeal to your sweet tooth. Definitely make a trip to Klavon’s if you’ve never been there or even if you’ve been there many times. I can’t wait to go back.
I love the ice cream here, and this is is the first time I had their sodas. The peach ice cream float on peach soda was so good and refreshing. Easy to get back to downtown with the bus stop just outside the shop door.
A small ice cream shop in the Strip District. It has many decorations inside, commercial products coming from decades ago, which is a good way to recollect history.
Ordered a Strip District Spilt, which has a banana, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate ice cream, with chocolate, strawberry, and pineapple topping, creams and nuts. A huge and delicious monster. Perfect for two people to share.

LOVE this place! We always have pineapple malts when we are out of town. This place came up on our Google search and it was close by the incline.
So glad we stopped. Sweet piece of nostalgia. The building was a pharmacy and reinvented as an ice cream parlor.
Awesome variety and creative menu.
They also have candy, popcorn, and coffee.
Soooo quirky and fun. Delicious sundaes of all different varieties. Tried the peanut butter and jelly. With vanilla ice cream, peanut butter sauce, strawberry sauce and peanuts. Amazing. My friend got the super sundae that had a bomb brownie and some hot fudge! Also tried their strawberry ice cream and cookies and cream. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in or around the strip district!
Klavons is one of those ice cream shops that echo to simpler times and when ice cream parlors were the place to be! That's not to say this place isn't because it definitely still is! They haven't changed their atmosphere a bit since when they opened and I love it! Classic, old-timey shop serving up classic sweets and treat from old school candy to root beer floats to sundaes and more! They have a few weekly specials of ice cream flavors and have their main menu of staples. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. The ice cream we had was freaking delicious as I wish I lived in the area to come back and try all the other flavors they have.
My wife and I got the Cookie Doughlicious Sundae which had Cookie Dough Ice Cream, Heath Bar, Caramel Syrup, and Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup! The Wee size is only one scoop but we had the regular which was 2 scoops. The ice cream was rich and dense with tasty bites of cookie dough inside. The cup was filled to the edge with tasty sauces and the heath bar was a nice addition to the dessert. It was topped off with some whipped cream and a cherry on top, of course!
I'm just so sad that because of Covid they aren't using their glassware because that would have really made the experience so special. Regardless, I'm not going to let that affect their rating. You HAVE to try this place if you're looking for ice cream in Pittsburgh.

I’ve wanted to come to Klavon’s since I first heard about it about three years ago in Utah at a different ice creamery named Rockwell’s. I love ice cream when it’s creamy and chunky. Now I know that I need hot fudge swirled on the side of my cup! The three years was worth the wait. I finally made it to Pittsburgh and Klavon’s did not disappoint!! I love the people, the music, the Art Deco style, and the delicious ice cream!!
