Thank You for the beautiful, delicious Chocolate Mousse Cake! My favorite! For my 65th Birthday 🎂 I really appreciated it🤗You are simply the best! #1 my favorite bakery. Marcia Rodgers
This bakery first opened in 1992, and I consider it to be the very best bakery in the entire Pittsburgh area. Baked goods include croissants, danishes, strudels, nut rolls, palmiers, macarons, cakes, and others. You may pre-order the baked goods, or you can simply stop in to see what is on display.
I sent my husband to this bakery weeks ago, and he loved it so much that he requested that we return again today. I had expected parking to be challenging in the neighborhood, but we found parking spots on the street. The employees were courteous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality.
We tried several of their pastries and desserts. The lemon tart had a crispy crust and delightfully lemony custard filling. The lemon raspberry cake had several flavorful layers of moist cake, lemon custard, raspberry filling, and icing. The palmier was a huge size and was perfectly crispy and sweet. My husband said that the croissants are the best that he has ever eaten in his life. I do not usually enjoy key lime pie, but I rate this bakery’s key lime pie as the best ever. And so on… My only suggestion for improvement is to not use containers that are made from type-6 plastic.
Please note that this bakery is not open everyday of the week. Furthermore, I read that the owner is trying to sell the business.
No other French bakery in Pennsylvania is better than this one. Croissants, Sugared brioches, Kouign amanns, burnt almond cake, black forest cake and the sixteen different flavored macrons(mmm pistachio, vanilla and Nutella ones) are the stars of this bakery. Mr.Chattelier is a professional, always so polite and immersed in his pastry work. The store can get very busy and all the items can get wiped out in early hours of morning itself. Call ahead (except in holidays) and they will hold items for you. Love this place and will go back in a heartbeat.
We have visited Paris 3 times and had our share of pastries. Let me just say this gem in Millvale is the real deal and has high quality French baked pastries, cakes and pies.
The staff is very friendly and efficient, jean-Marc is great and chats with you if he is baking and near the counter.
Our favorite thing here is everything! We try all the various items and all are great. This time around we had the pumpkin pie, carrot cake, chocolate mousse, lemon raspberry and the staple croissants and kouign amann.
We are so lucky to have this bakery on our doorstep in the North of Pittsburgh.
You will think you are in a secret French hometown (and perfectly professionally) bakery! Everything, and I mean everything, is exquisite and authentic. Whenever my family came to town, they insisted we go to Jean Marc. I live in Washington DC now and the French bakeries here have nothing over Jean Marc. Jean Marc is the real thing.

Nice little local bakery. French for sure. The quality is amazing. The cheese danish was ridiculously good. My wife is definitely going to love this place.
WOW! A real French bakery! Other than the Danish and Nut rolls,I can't spell the cakes and pastries, but they are fresh and yum. Amazing husband and wife partnership is small and limited hours. They are worth making the time and trip.
I love stopping by JM on a Saturday morning. They have a great selection of breakfast pastries, desserts, cookies, and cakes. I love their croissants. The almond and chocolate ones are perfect to share with someone.
There is usually a line, but it moves quickly. They are only open on Fridays and Saturdays, so plan accordingly. This is probably the best French bakery in Pittsburgh!
I recently read an article about the bakery, so I added it our list of places to visit. We bought some plain croissants and butter cookies. The cookies are very good but the star attraction were the croissants. They are exceptional. Light, flaky and buttery. They really exceeded our expectations. It also happened that I harvested our backyard raspberry crop so I made a batch of seedless jam to go with the croissants. A perfect breakfast! We'll be back. They didn't have any baguettes when we visited but hopefully next time! Go there quickly before he sells or retires!
This is the best French bakery in tahn, hands down. From the moment you walk in the smell of buttery French delights hits one like Jermone Bettis hitting the hole back in '94. It's not fancy from the outside, but the treats inside contain a richness that is worth every penny. It is not all that many pennies for these French treats. On my most recent visit, I went in and ordered 2 of several different pastries as well as a butter cookie (it's like a cake, highly recommend) in preparation for my family coming to visit from Texas. I may have spent $50 in total, but it provided several delicious sweet snacking sessions for 5 adults; well worth it. I heard that the owner may be looking at closing up the shop and or passing it along to new blood. I hope that J-MC's continues in some capacity for a good long while. It's a great spot.
