Veda Indian Bistro offers a diverse cocktail menu with strong and well-crafted options that pack a punch. The deliciously good food, featuring top-notch flavors, makes it a standout choice. The lamb chops are a must-try, and generous food portions enhance the dining experience. The inviting ambiance, coupled with excellent cocktails, creates a very enjoyable overall atmosphere at Veda Indian Bistro.
If you want the very best Indian food with a modern twist in Philly, Veda does not disappoint. Superb menu, with awesome cocktails. They tailor the spice levels to suite every palate, and the atmosphere and decor are tasteful and welcoming. Avy, our server, was the epitome of polite, competent and friendly service. Superb dining experience, great food, lovely ambiance.
This place is very nice. The food was tasty, and while I’m not an expert of Indian cuisine, I found it quite enjoyable. The portions were generous, so much so that we needed to ask for boxes to take leftovers home. I particularly loved their veggie samosas.
Incredibly tasteful food with the perfect artistry coupled with a casual ambiance that makes anyone feel welcome. The friendly bartender served up the best old fashioned I have had in a long time, which was garnished with a juicy black cherry. The flash-fried Okra Salad, Goat Cheese Naan, and Mirch Murgh Tikka complimented each other so well, I slept for a good eight hours that night (which never happens), dreaming of the next time I eat at Veda.
Last week I placed a catering order for my office of 10 people. I set it for 12/21/23 at 12:30pm. Today the food arrived at 11:45 giving me the perfect amount of time to set things up. Everything was PERFECTLY wrapped with care. Not a single spill. when dealing with curry this is super important. We ordered most of our dishes in the quart size option and the portions exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing, fresh and HOT! 10/10 service and care. Thank you Veda!
It’s sad to me that people claim to not have a good experience here - my boyfriend and I have been to Philly 3 times, and all 3 times we’ve went here. They have the best chicken makhani I’ve ever had in my ENTIRE life.
What I love is their tasting platters (especially coming during lunchtime when it’s quieter) you get so much food for a great deal. Whoever claims their portions are “too small” must be eating right out of the pots and don’t actually pour the food onto a plate. I am STUFFED after the lunch tasting platter!!!
They have really delicious cocktails (highly recommend the Mumbai mule!) and I’ve never had any bad service here. They’re always so incredibly welcoming and kind, and coming from NY, I think their prices are extremely fair.
Will be returning every time I come to town. This restaurant has a place in my heart!
Have been coming here for years and it has always been a great restaurant! For celebrations, dates, just craving some of their delicious apps and cocktails, Veda is the spot. The staff is super friendly, professional, and kind! My dad and I have a routine of coming here to sit at the bar (great cocktails and great drinks) and they’re always so welcoming to us. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Great food and cocktails!! The atmosphere and service was also lovely. My server Raine recommended me 4 items and all were amazing. I got the tandoori paneer, malai kofta, a veda mule, and a key lime pie martini. All the food items were so satisfying and well flavored, and the cocktails were also delicious. Raine recommended me the loyalty program as I checked out which is great because I'll definitely be back!
Great experience! First time eating here and it did not disappoint! Avy was fantastic and very attentive. She had great recommendations that were absolutely delicious. We had the Lasooni Gobi! We could have gotten it a little spicier. We also had the Mirch Murgh Tikka! This was MY FAV. So tender and flavorful. Avy also recommended the Chicken Chettinad. Also very delicious. Got that with a higher spice. Thanks Avy!
I recently had a delightful dining experience at Veda, which is located right beside the Target on Chestnut St.
First up, the vegetable samosa. Oh boy, they were incredible! Crispy on the outside, filled with a flavorful blend of veggies on the inside. It truly transported me to the streets of Kolkata. Definitely a must-try for all the samosa lovers out there.
Now, let's talk about the chef's tasting chicken thali. This was a feast fit for royalty! The chicken makhani was absolutely heavenly, with tender chicken cooked in a rich and creamy buttery sauce. The pindi chana masala had just the right amount of spice and the flavors were spot on. The garlic naan was so fluffy and garlicky, the perfect companion to mop up those delicious curries.
To round off the meal, I indulged in a sweet treat – the gulab jamun. It was warm, syrupy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked, each grain distinct and aromatic. And let's not forget the veg curry, the navranta korma, which was a delightful medley of vegetables cooked in a flavorful sauce.
The only disappointment for me was the drink. We had Laila - minty lemon flavoured vodka and elderflower. It was a 2/5 for me.
But overall, this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The food was authentic, bursting with flavors, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive. If you're craving some lip-smacking North Indian cuisine, this place is a winner. Reservations are not mandatory but recommended.
