Labor Day Monday, understaffed, still great service. Our waiter was amazing, didn't seem overwhelmed, suggested things. Loved this place before, loved it after this. Great food, great tequila, great waitstaff. Will definitely come back!!!
Love Love Love!. I've only been here twice now and both times have been outstanding! The food is awesome and reasonably priced. The staff is great and super accommodating. My most recent trip here was last weekend for my birthday. We had a group of 16 people and everyone raved about their food. I had a little mishap with my food, not a huge deal, but they comped off each item even though I still ate them and told them I didn't mind.
Over all, great experience!
I had the shrimp tacos, fish tacos and elote. All were really tasty. I highly recommend the Ancho Naranja salsa, it's awesome!
Tried three verdions of tacos: barbaccoa (fabulous), cod (great), and pork (great flavor but fatty). Skip the rice and beans (bland). Nice but slow service and we were only 1 of 3 tables ; early afternoon in a weekday.
Eat tacos, stay for tequila. The tacos and pozole are excellent. These are real authentic down and dirty tacos. Late night has a cool, quaint vibe to enjoy a couple margs at the upstairs tequila bar.
Very Pleased. We tried Nico's on a whim, having recently moved from Texas we have been hesitant to try the Mexican food here in Minnesota. Nico's was given a "thumbs up" from my boyfriend, a native from Mexico. He found the green sauce to be good, yet almost too spicy. The service was good, quick and friendly. The food was delicious and very flavorful. We would definitely go back for another visit.
LOVED IT! My husband and I had an absolutely awesome experience. We would highly recommend it and will certainly be back!

Great tacos, fun vibe. Been to Nico's twice now and am so happy great Mexican finally made it in the neighborhood. I mean yeah, there's Chipotle and Baja grill but both are very American and more of a quick serve atmosphere. There wasn't a host to seat us, but after only a couple minutes we were warmly told by a server to sit anywhere we like, we chose the patio since it was nice outside. We immediately ordered the guacamole and it was fantastic! It's a bit pricey but worth it as it comes out fresh with lots of cilantro and jalapenos which I love. The tacos are a great deal at $3. My friend and I shared two taco plates with Barbacoa, tinga pollo, pastor (pork in a spicy red sauce) and carne asada. All were fabulous with each having a totally different and unique flavor. I love that they are served like the real thing...cilantro, onions, and your choice of salsa (you can add avocado for $1 which we did for two of them). The margaritas were good, especially the cucumber one. My friend had the spicy Arbol and it tasted more like a strong whiskey cocktail than a margarita, but, hey, he loved it! Me, I'll stick with my sweet and sour taste buds. Next time I'm trying the enchiladas.
This place is adorable. I had heard it just opened over the weekend and so had the pleasure of eating there with a friend this afternoon. First of all let me say it smelled glorious when we walked in...you could tell good things were simmering! We started with the salsa flight, your choice of three salsas along with chips. We agreed the verde was the best. It almost had a creamy texture which we were told is because it's the salsa that is blended extra fine with tomatillos and avocados. The Arbol was the spiciest, so much so that my friend could not eat it, but I actually enjoyed the spice level. I had the pork in salsa verde and the pastor, and my friend the nopales (cactus) taco. All were so delicious and each had a completely different flavor to it. When doing a walk through I passed the kitchen where I saw them grinding tomatoes into salsa in stone bowls...very cool to see! Can't wait to go back!

Great addition to uptown. Came to Nico's on whim as my friend and I were simply walking by and noticed guests on the patio. I had heard all the buzz about this place opening and was surprised to see them open already...turns out it was there first day! We thought we would give them a try and sit inside as it was a bit muggy outside. There was a wait so we headed up to the tequila bar for a drink. It took forever to get our drink order in as the bartender looked s little overwhelmed. We ordered a couple margaritas and were surprised to see only two options on the menu. It was explained to us they will be adding more soon. They weren't ready by the time out tavble was ready so we were seated and ordered before they finally came...okay so just a matter of logistics I will forgive since they just opened. On to the menu...we ordered the guac to start. It was fantastic with nice chunks of avocado in it, slices of fresh jalapeños and cilantro. We scarfed it down and were on to the tacos we ordered. You can order tacos ala carte for $3 so we ordered about five total with a salsa flight. Wow, we're we impressed, these were some dang good tacos! Of you have ever been to Mexico (or some places on east lake), these are the type of tacos they were serving..although with a better flare and freshness about them. My favorite was the al Pastor, second the shrimp. We both enjoyed the chicken tinga taco, but felt the others were better. The salsas were all spicy (so watch out!) but very flavorful. Our server was slow to get our check and have our credit card run (over 10 minutes) but it turns out they don't have computers till next week...yikes! We will be back as the food was that good. Hopefully we will be enjoying a larger margarita selection and smoother service the second time around.

But this place is definitely worth a stop! See pictures of the HH menu which looks worthwhile. The service was great as well, the selection of tequila and mezcal was encouraging, the patio (both upstairs and street level!) had a great ambiance. Parking on the street is often not that difficult.
Perfect spot in the summer and possibly in the winter inside as well.
First time here and about 7 pm it was busy but the patio seemed busier than seating indoors. Although the food did take some time Olivia our server went above and beyond for us and I genuinely appreciated it. The food was delicious! We’re already planning our next visit, it’s not very often that we see nopales on the menu and I really liked the elote.
With indigenous flavors and beautiful decor this is the spot!!
I had a coupon for here so we went to try it out on a Friday evening and there was no wait without a reservation. The vibes inside are immaculate and it’s decorated to the max for Christmas! The mocktail even came in a gingerbread mug. Our server was really nice and helped out with suggestions.
The pastor taco was really good and the carnitas was ok. We shared a queso gringo appetizer that was tasty but a small serving for $6. It’s a fun place to try out with friends for the aesthetics, but very pricey for average tacos.
We had Nico's cater our wedding last month and were very happy with the food, service, and cost. Guests remarked it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had.
Lovely place with super chill and friendly atmosphere. Ask your waiter for recommendations and give the salsa flight a try. Best burria I've ever had.
Love the vibe at Nico's. I only had the birria tacos, wish I could of got more food lol. The patio was so nice. Great place to hangout or go on dates.
First time ever being here. It was fantastic! All of the food looks and tastes amazing! I got a burrito and OMG!!! Every single bite was full of flavor. Other food people I was with was some tacos, quesadillas (which next time we go I'm definitely getting these!!) and fajitas. The drinks were delicious and some come in these super cool glasses!!
Highly recommend and the Christmas decorations are pretty cool!

Wow! Such a cute little restaurant, in the heart of uptown Minneapolis. The festive decorations made me feel warm, as well as the outstanding margaritas! A “must visit” place, you should dine at, especially around Christmas.
We tried a few different kinds of tacos and they were all excellent. Particularly their house tacos, Lamb Birria Tacos with dipping consommé, were so flavorful. The restaurant kept the original structure, creating a very homey feel to it. It’s a great locally owned restaurant!
