I love all the food I have tried. Everything has been exceptional. Keep up the good work, Derrick!
This spot is a chill vibe, the staff is friendly and helpful with choosing what to eat. The Mac and Cheese is delicious and filling! You can probably share a dish with someone but who doesn't love leftover mac and cheese?! It tasted just as good if not better the next day. Great for a date night and we will absolutely be back. There is a reason this place is famous! I highly recommend giving them a try.
Simply put, House of Mac is absolutely amazing. The food is out of this world. Try the sampler & try several different types of the Mac, prior to placing your entree. The entire Family fully enjoyed the food from start to finish.
House of Mac, owned by Derrick (Teach)Turton, makes some of the best mac & cheese flavors anyone has ever tasted.
I recommend the corn bread, crispy top and melt in your mouth bread in the middle. Order the MAC & cheese sampler to try out 3 of their flavours.
As you drive into the neighborhood, you’ll see a lot of graffiti art on the buildings. Street parking is available.
While I was there, the ‘Teach’ himself came by the table to greet everyone at the table. Really good guy. His service team is awesome too.
I enjoyed watching the video interviews of Turton, that he has on wall mounted tvs.
Went there earlier today. Menu is very enticing, many choices. Hubs got the Buffalo Mac n cheese which was delicious and I got the chicken and shrimp Alfredo. Unfortunately, it missed the bar by a long shot. The pasta itself is tasteless. The shrimp and chicken is very good but for $27 the portion was smaller than I expected. I think the lady taking the orders should mention that when customers are asking for recommendations. When i got my ordered and mentioned the small portion she was speechless. Literally had nothing to say. Hopefully, this review will be a learning and training opportunity for the establishment. I will be back but will stick to their Mac n cheese with a chicken add. First time I came I had the BBQ chicken Mac n cheese and it was to die for. Expensive lesson learned.
This Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend I visited Miami and discovered this restaurant on the recommendation of "Black Owned Restaurants" in Miami. I choose the location at 2055 NW 2nd location because of the proximity of my hotel. According to Google, this location was set to close at midnight on Sunday. Unfortunately, when I arrived around 9:30pm, the general manager said they would be closing soon. Natalie graciously offered a discount if I returned tomorrow which I did. The next day I arrived at noon and ordered the jerk chicken pasta, lemon-peppered wings with a side of hot honey, and lump crab meat and shrimp mac & cheese. All three dishes were amazing tasting. The wait-staff was very accommodating and helpful. Structurally, it looks like the building is still "loading" which is quite fine. The bathrooms could require some work that there was no soap in one and the other bathroom's sink did not have enough water pressure to wash my hands. Otherwise, I will definitely return and recommend this place to anyone visiting and local.
Visiting Miami and googled a black owned restaurant to support and World Famous House of Mac popped up! Excellent choice! We meet the owner Chef Teach! He was very humble and very approachable! Took a picture with us! Atmosphere was lovely ! Food was chefs kiss! Our waitress Stacie was the best! Homemade blueberry lemonade was so fresh and delicious I had to take one !
Excellent comfort food for mac n cheese. All kinds of types and looking forward to trying them more next time. Lowering it by 1 star though because the music inside is obnoxiously loud coming from one corner. The service is also nonexistent, you order from a QR code directly to the table, while it’s quick, it lacks the purpose of a sit down restaurant - meaning it’s lacking in minimal service like there are no knives, can’t flag down a waiter to get anything else - you’re better off ordering takeout.
Only reason that I'm rating it 4 stars is bc they were out of their cornbread. The cornbread is the icing on the cake at this place...all of their lemonades are delicious. The pizza, wings and mac and cheese are all on point...I've gone a few times and will continue to go
The mac and cheese is incredible here I can see why they’re Famous. The portions are not too big but you will get full. Easily. We had truffle m&c and the chicken one with added bacon. You will get foodgasm but also a cholesterol spike. It doesn’t matter, tho, you’d be willing to go for a run to have that food again.
Their lemonades are good, too.
