Another best kept secret. Chef eric waldkirch creates some of the most outsatnding dishes around. vege's are fresh plates are bountiful, selection is wide and the taste is always above board. all i can say is everytime i eat lunch there they are always packed. the chef also has a catering business on the side "maximillians catering" and if you try it ask for the "figs stuffed with gargonzola warp with bacon" it is awesome. congratulation eric and oni!!!

It is a church of sorts - that provides food for both the body and soul. It describes itself as "a coffee shop and cultural center immersed and wrapped in community."

We would have never eaten at Caritas Village if we had not received so many strong recommendations to try it out. The community center and cafe/restaurant is located in a part of town we've never been and in a brick box building that I was almost unconvinced was the right place if it hadn't been for the sign. After reading their mission statement of breaking barriers between races and the rich and poor by providing a place they could break bread together, it was clear the location choice was an admirable one. After going through a small entrance corridor, the dining and lounge became much more open and welcoming. Finding the menu and ordering counter was the first priority but soon after Atticus found the kid's play area with a variety of toys, puzzles and books. Although the wait for our food wasn't long, it was nice to keep him occupied as I took photos, especially of the 60's style hot pink chairs. Here's what we tasted below with our favorites with an asterick*. ~ {Christopher} Cal

Come on, this place makes everything feel good. The food is out of this world. The smoked smashed potatoes are addictive, along with all of the veggie choices. Looking for a protein, then snap up the meatloaf and then hate your mother because her's was never this good. Be greedy and let the pants out because you never want to skip dessert in this unconventional eatery. Bring a few extra bucks and pay it forward. Some of your dining mates maybe be Memphis' down and out and they are getting a hot meal on the house thanks to your generosity. This facility is home to AA meetings, churches and other neighborhood projects. Out front there is a "little pantry". Great spot to drop ready to eat items for folks that miss dining hours and have no place to cook but need food. Very safe parking and positive neighborhood vibe, so go now and go often your belly and soul will thank you. Maybe not your pants.

AMAZING!!!!! Mac has assembled a heck-of-a-team here! Amazing lunch, and whenever there is a special dinner fundraiser - you better sign-up quick! The seating is limited, the food is always amazing, and everything comes right back into the Binghampton community. We need more places like Caritas!

The burger here is right up there with Roxies. I mean, it's almost too good to be true. The main advantage of Caritas is the ability to PERFECTLY cook to order a hamburger. The chef is a formally trained chef and it's clear in his perfect execution. There were orders of medium-rare, medium, medium-well, and well at our table. All were perfect. Typically when I order a hamburger medium-rare, I'll get the suburban medium-rare, which is more like a medium (over-cooked). This was spot-on, perfectly executed. It comes on beautiful bun that's given love on the flat-top or grill and brushed with butter. Then the patty, hand formed, and larger than the bun by at least a half-inch all the way around. The meat is perfectly seasoned and about the juiciest I've ever had on a burger. This is the largest single patty burger I've had in town. The Bing burger comes with caramelized onions, tomato, romaine leaf and cheese (I want to say there were choices, cheddar, swiss, American, but it was really unimportant because the meat was the star). Only complaint was my bun was soggy towards the end, but that didn't seem to be a problem for my less adventurous lunch mates who had their's a little more done. Even if it were soggy the whole time, it would still be one of the top burgers in town, it's that good. A huge burger, pickle spear, and scoop of potato salad for $5.75. And I didn't eat dinner that night. Ridiculous value. Tip well, it all goes to an excellent cause. Go eat here as soon as you can.

Caritas Village is a lunch place which serves a good proportion of it's meals as charity. It also serves as a community center for the Binghampton neighborhood. This is a marvelous example of doing well by doing good, and hopefully everyone looking for a good lunch, and some needing a free lunch, will patronize Caritas.

This will be one of a select few that I give 5 stars. Chef Spencer McMillan is charge of the kitchen, and he is doing a bang up job. His crew is serving all kinds of delicious treats to all walks of life. Anyone is welcome. The food is ah-maz-ing. Especially the pimento cheese sandwich. But the reason Caritas gets 5 stars is they are using their powers for good by serving the underprivileged and underfed. You know the money you gave for the most delicious pimento cheese sandwich (or whatever you got) goes towards feeding the people who need it more than you do. Great people doing great work.
