I am a jerk when It comes to food reviews. But this place doesn’t disappoint. My service was great. I never had to ask for a refill once. The Mac and Cheese is awesome! The Brisket is delicious and the naked wings are awesome!!! The fries are real thick cut! They’re great too! I’ll be back! Great place and locally owned.
In town from Michigan and this place was referred to us. Without a doubt some of the best BBQ that we have ever had. The seasoning on the chicken strips is amazing and the hot BBQ is the best! Too bad they don’t sell bottles of it because we would have left with several. Will definitely return when we are back.

It wasn’t even 5 minutes from the time I walked in to getting a giant plate of bbq nachos for my table. The rest of the service was excellent. As a former waiter myself I’m always pleasantly surprised when servers pay attention to the fullness of your drinks and get you refills before you run out. As someone who drinks a lot when I’m out a restaurant, this aspect of service is very important to me .
They have nice blues music playing in the background that fits the ambiance perfectly. The waitresses have those very friendly southern vibes. Expect to be called “baby” and “darling” multiple times as you are being waited on .
I’ve only ordered to go and never sat inside. This place is AMAZING! The ribs are the best ribs I’ve had in Louisville, the cheese fries are so full of flavor and soooo cheesy, and potato salad is unique and delicious, and best of all they are not stingy with the portions. 10/10 recommend. Food was great!! We would try different sides next time, for variety, but the Big Daddy platter was plenty for the two of us! Delicious bourbon slushies too
We were greeted with a smile and had great service. Nice selection of bourbon in the bar and the food was wonderful. I recommend the ribs and brisket sandwich. You won't be disappointed!!

Food was awesome. Had a great time listening to The Lohden Boys playing live with friends and family.
Went for some BBQ and they did not disappoint! Had the brisket sandwich and fries. Huge portion of thick sliced full fat brisket. Their sweet tea was on point as well.

Checks’ food is phenomenal! I ordered wings for the Super Bowl, and they did not disappoint. I was really impressed with the size of the wings. I really enjoyed the breading, it makes the difference. My order was prepared promptly and was ready at the pick up time they gave me. The atmosphere in Checks is really cool, I liken it to a honky rink/blues bar that has great people and great service.
First visit today. I ordered the Fried Chicken, corn and mashed spuds. Very hot and tasty. Thought the chicken could have used a tad more salt, other than that, no complaints. My husband ordered the pulled chicken, baked beans and potato salad. He said it was all very good. We will definitely visit again. Wait staff very nice.
