The highlight of the lunch was - I felt - the excellent burgoo they had at Mark's Feed Store. While the brisket and baby back ribs were good, the sides were simply abysmal. It tasted like the baked beans were nothing more than canned pork and beans, the "spicy" fries didn't have hardly any spicy taste to them, and my wife's side of mac and cheese was overcooked and rubbery. But the service and the atmosphere was fine at Mark's Feed Store, as was the barbecue we had. I just wish they would have offered a combo plate during lunch as I would have liked to have tried some of the pulled pork barbecue, as well.
Does it compare to St. Louis or Memphis BBQ? Of course not.
The food here is good. Normally when I've been here, they aren't cheap on portion size either. The sides normally almost make a meal itself.
Customer service is normally good at this location.
While no Memphis, decent BBQ at affordable prices.

Came to Louisville for Youth Group Competition and my cousin suggested this place. If you like BBQ any at all, you will love Marks Feed Store BBQ. I got a #1 which came with 3 honey glazed wings, brisket, 1/4 rack ribs, mac n cheese, corn on the cob!!! Perfect decision!

Of all the Louisville Mark's Feed Barns, this one has the best atmosphere. Located in an old corner mercantile storefront, it's got plenty of charm. We sat in a banquet room big enough for a group of 30. Good portions and plenty of sauce for the ribs. Waitress was attentive and helpful. Parking was a bit difficult since it was a Saturday night and it's starting to feel more chain-y, but would return again.
Decent BBQ... Baby Back ribs were good... I prefer dry rub ribs but that just me. Side of baked beans average and cole slaw above average. Place is in a cool part of town and restaurant is lively and good. Service above average. The pulled pork and chicken was dry. Sauces were good.
The best mark's. This location is the best Mark's! The waitresses are always friendly and my boyfriend and I are actually friends with some of them! No complaints about this place :)
Good ribs. The ribs here were pretty good, along with the baked beans and fried pickles. We also got fried green tomatoes, which had mostly a cornmeal taste. Love the two story location here, even though we were on the first floor.
4.5/5. Very yummy, as with any bardstown road place, parking can be tough
Great Q !. Mark’s Feed Store hits a homerun for their barbeque. My husband used to travel a lot for work and he is something of a Q Snob. So many places just roast the meat and cover it in sauce to hide the fact that it’s not really smoked. Mark’s smokes their own meat on-site.
My husband ordered a combo plate – chicken, ribs, and pulled pork – and it was enough for two meals. I ordered the salmon burger and was very pleased. The sweet potato fries were outstanding, and we shared a little ice cream sundae to finish it all off for just $1.99.
The food is flavorful, plentiful, and not expensive. The service was outstanding.
My husband liked it so much we got a pound to take home for sammiches (in addition to his plentiful leftovers from the combo plate). There are several locations in the Louisville Metro, so if you are a Q fan, try one out.
Mark’s Feed Store status immediately upon entry and we got to choose which table we wanted because it wasn’t packed. They had options for our friends that were gluten-free and had nut allergies. We had a great experience. Our server was so nice and our food was delightful. It was beautifully cooked. I had enough for leftovers. Mark’s feed store doesn’t disappoint. My favorite part is the pasta salad, I can’t wait to eat it again.
I recently dined at Mark's Feed Store, and I must say, it was a delightful culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with great service and a warm atmosphere. The smell of barbecue filled the air, promising a fantastic meal ahead.
The barbecue here is exceptional, boasting a freshness that sets it apart. The meats were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The ribs, though not fall-off-the-bone tender, had a fantastic smoky flavor and a crispy outer layer that added a delightful crunch to every bite. The attention to flavor is truly commendable.
What stood out to me was the impeccable condition of the bathrooms. They were well-kept and spotlessly clean, a reflection of the restaurant's commitment to hygiene and a pleasant dining environment.
But it was the cornbread that stole the show. It was nothing short of amazing – moist, crumbly, and with a sweet, golden crust. It perfectly complemented the barbecue dishes and left me craving for more.
In conclusion, Mark's Feed Store is a must-visit for any barbecue enthusiast. The great barbecue, freshness, and top-notch service make it a standout. While the ribs may not fall off the bone, the rich flavor and crispy exterior more than compensate. Plus, the delightful surprise of the cornbread elevates the entire dining experience. A top recommendation for barbecue lovers!
Marks is a great little BBQ restaurant in Middletown Louisville. The Sampler Plate gave me a good taste of all the yummy things- brisket, pulled pork, honey chicken wings and more. Definitely a go back to experience.
We had a hoot! We were looking for Kentucky BBQ and we found this place. Chelsea our server was amazing! Food was good. The brisket was bit on the dry side, but still very tasty!
Great BBQ. Awesome customer service. Our server Brittany was great! Will definitely go back the next time I am in town!
This place is amazing! Old school BBQ, I order the platter 1 with barnyard corn and spicy fries with hot wings and pork and ribs and all of it was perfect! I tried all the sauces and I like a kick so the spicy was great. First time at this restaurant so they honored me with a piece of buttermilk homemade pie and some sauce to take home! Different will be back!
Was in town for a conference and Mark’s was recommended by a friend who’d been there before.
Wow am I glad we stopped! Everything was excellent. If we lived nearby, Mark’s would be on our list of go-to’s.
Absolutely amazing food! Burgoo was delicious, ribs fell off the bone, honey chicken wings were the best wings I’ve ever had, the buttermilk pie dessert with ice cream and caramel was incredible! Everything came out fast and tasted so fresh! I can’t say enough about this place. You can’t beat the price nor the service! Real southern hospitality here! Chelsea was amazing as well! If we lived here we would be back often but if we are ever back in KY we will be sure to come back!
So far I have only ordered through carry out but the food was great. A lot of BBQ places, in my experience, cut corners on their meats but the smoked flavor came through great on their brisket. Their sides were not mind blowing but still quite good. I look forward to coming with a bigger group soon to get to try everything!
Great urban setting for BBQ! Today we had the pulled chicken; love their sauces. Portions were generous, as always.
