We ate dinner here today. I'm absolutely no expert of Cuban Cuisine however; I can say, we think the food served here is delicious. We had the smoked pork chops and bean soup of the day.
Who said you have to spend more to get quality and authentic Cuban cuisine ? Just minutes away and enjoy great Cuban food. This is island food and island dress attire is best. Flip flops and shorts is perfect, don't forget a large appetite too.
I've always loved El Mocho's been eating here for many many years. My parents lived next to the restaurant and evey time I'd come home this was my go to for Great Cuban food. Great home cooked tasty food, I always forget to take photos of my Cuban Mix orders that's because I can't wait to sink my teeth into them. If they are not open when I make it down there I'm there the next morning for breakfast then lunch. I'm always so excited to get my food I keep forgetting to get me a shirt. Welp just another reason to head south. Seriously Great Cuban food an Coffee in a family atmosphere...
We wanted something local before getting to KeyWest, we had the Chicken and Beef empanadas, they were delicious tease homemade, we had the beef and ribs special, it tasted very well, over all great experience the server was very helpful also gave us some recommendations where to go in KeyWest.
Added a little nice touch, they have some art pieces on the wall, not sue if they are local artists but they were pleasant to look at.

We go every single year when we are in key west. The staff is kind and the food is amazing. Very reasonable prices and fast service. We sometimes go 3 times in a week and we will be back!
Freshest OJ you’ll ever have. (Fresh squeezed on premises) Breakfast was excellent. Cafe con leche was on point. If you want to stretch your buck, eat Cuban, eat local mom & pop.

My new favorite place in lower keys. I originally stopped in for a Cuban mix on way to airport, as soon as it was handed to me it felt heavy in my hand, I ate half on way to airport and it is if not the best, one of the best I've ever had. I have been back 3 times, trying a ribs special, fried porkchops, and a pork stew. All were excellent! To get this quality of food at these prices is rare anywhere, much less the lower keys! No pretenses, fancy menus, or pompousness here, just great food. Every time the same gentleman was at the counter, the owner I believe, he was friendly and answered any questions.
El Mocho is in a great location close to Boyd’s campground. Fast service. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Great prices. Yummy selection. Easy take out or dine in. No wait.

Watch out that they already add an 18% service charge. We tipped 20% because of the great experience but didn’t realize it was tipping 38%. Still enjoyable but will watch out for next time.
