Excellent. Beautiful outdoor patio. Great service. Don't miss this spot!!! Dinner was very romantic and delicious! Will definitely return!! Everything we ate was fresh and perfect.
This place is fancy! I love the flavors but its definitely pricey. I ordered the king salmon with quinoa and garbanzo. It's the best perfectly cooked salmon i have ever eaten. It was pretty good. My husband ordered the chicken with orzo and he didnt like it since the sauce was curry. The key lime pie was great but watery.
We had to stumble over to the bar in Louie's backyard. Amazing view of the ocean while you enjoy your food. I ordered the burger and it was great.
I had here was above average. Pricey but not bad. The steak was very tender, not the best taste I've ever had but good. The pork was very good, probably the best thing I've had there so far.
What can I say??? Incredible ambiance, Oceanside, wonderful wine and drink list, along with the best key lime pie I've ever had. Gingerbread crust, with raspberry sauce. Fantastic. The entrees were delicious as well, would definitely recommend!
We didn't get a sunset but loved this place! Perfect location right on the water. The salmon appetizer was amazing, entrees were good & the servings were large. Favorite was brownie Creme brûlée, fantastic!!!

Make reservations & sit outside!. The outside area downstairs was booked so we sat upstairs on the balcony where they only serve small plates, which was still good. Highly recommend the brownie creme brûlée! Good food, good service, super romantic atmosphere. Love!

Elegant Sunday Brunch. Neighbors who have a condo in Key West recommended Louie's to us and I'm glad they did. The particulary recommended Sunday Brunch and we took their suggestion.
We took to trolley to the Casa Marina Hotel and from there, it's a very short walk one block over to the restaurant.
We got there shortly after the restaurant opened and were seated at a table for two on a short veranda overlooking the beach or rather what beach there is. Still it's a beautiful view of the water and very calm and relaxing.
The dining room is decorated in period furniture from the early 20th Century which gives a nice warm touch. Service is great. Unobtrusive and at the same time, they are there are the appropriate times when you need them.
Started out with Coffee and it was a full rich blend with lots of flavor. Looking over the menu, my wife chose the Rib Eye with Eggs and Potato Cake while I had the Shrimp Benedict. We split an order of Conch Fritters Appetizer between us. We though the Conch Fritters from the day before were good but these we even better and probaby the best we had in Key West. The Shrimp Benedict was excellent. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. One of the best features of the meal and the one often overlooked was the bread. It was fresh and yeasty and you could tell it was fresh baked and right out of the oven. It's been a long time since I've had bread this good.
This restaurant will definately be on our return list next time we visit Key West and I would recommend it to anyone.
Love this place!!!. I literally planned a trip to Key West to come here and within an hour of landing I was sitting ocean side sipping a mimosa and waiting for them to start serving lunch.
I had the spicey mango salad with key west pink shrimp. It was so fresh, lovingly prepared and just damn good! I lingered and talked to Drea the bartender who is super nice to chat with and met the owners son, who I believe is the manager or co-owner who was also laid back and great to chat with.
Came back a couple days later for scallop ceviche and my friend had an ahi tuna dish. Both were really good and enjoyable. That particular day we were both dying of thirst from cocktails the night before and walking in the sun but the staff was so gracious about continually filling our water glasses no matter how busy they were.
I really wanted to try upstairs for wine and tapas but I ran out of time : ( Oh well, yet another reason to go back..and soon!!
excellent food and service. really nice view of the ocean if sitting out back as well. I tried the snapper sandwich for lunch and it was terrific. One of our best stops for lunch during our vacation in Key West. would go here again!
Pie crawl stop #2. Love the atmosphere. Right on the water. Covered dining. Friendly service. Beautiful. The pie however, not my favorite. Presentation is nice but the filling was a little granular and I prefer creamy.

I would give Louie's Backyard 10 stars if I could!
We arrived a little after 9pm, (they were closing at 9:30).
The ambiance was elegant and relaxed.
Since we arrived so late we sat at the bar as we were still able to order food and drinks.
Gage was our bartender. What a phenomenal human being he is?! He is a true representative of the Keywest "We are One Human Family" mantra. We left feeling like we gained a family member. He was warm and welcoming. The restaurant feeds their employees. He had something that was layered in stacks. I was curious about what it was so I asked...not only did Gage tell us what it was in detail, he even offered to let us have a taste. This was the first time my husband and I ever tried marinated tuna. (It tasted amazing as it melted in our mouths)

Now, we arrived close to closing so I would imagine the grill was shut down and was turned back on to cook the filet mignon. When we received our filet mignon we can taste the chemical on it and it tasted a bit burnt. so we exchanged it for the shrimp and grits. Side note, we heard about Louie's Backyard from people we were vacationing with, they ordered the filet magnon and could not stop talking about how amazing it was.
The grouper was excellent and was devoured before the shrimp and grits were served.
Now, the shrimp and grits were an entire experience on their own. The dish was amazing! The grits were creamy with a little heat, everything on the plate was full of flavor.
Grilled shrimp and Octopus was pretty good.
Chocolate Brownie Crème Brûlée was delightful, you certainly want to experience this dessert if it is on the menu.
We will visit this restaurant every time we visit Keywest.
You should not leave Keywest without visiting this restaurant!
Beautiful setting whether you are inside or out. Sitting at the bar overlooking the gorgeous ocean provides a certain calmness hard to match anywhere. Marcy was attentive and cheerful. The coconut crusted grouper could not have been cooked more perfect. Kudos to the chef for the flavorful bok choy: tender with just enough crisp. Conch fritters were nice and moist and not over cooked. Pretty special key lime pie with a beautiful presentation.
Lovely dinner with great service by our server Maria. Stunning view of the ocean. I had the special of the chef shrimp over grits, very delicious! Husband had the conch chowder and they provided a liquid pepper sauce to spice to your own liking, he said it was excellent! Also the pre meal bread was so yummy served nice and hot melt in your mouth!! Thank you for a great meal!
We made reservations well in advanced and were sat promptly upon arrival. Our waiter was intense but made us laugh. The food was fantastic. I took points off for atmosphere as we were sat at a two top under an air vent…the vent was leaking condensation and it was dripping on me & our table. It dripped in my drink at one point. Even our waiter called it out and physically moved our table to try and help us escape the drip. For an upscale restaurant, I would appreciate a more sophisticated set up. Not wise to have a table under a dripping vent.
Louie's is one of those places that is hard to rate. On one hand I've been coming here since 2000 and the food is pretty good. The bad part is the consistency.
Food comes out overcooked one night and comes out perfectly the next. With that said, the views are spectacular and honestly is a place to go if you've never been.
We were eating upstairs since downstairs were full. Upstairs has a lighter menu and we we were perfectly happy with. Great service and decent dishes
Maria was such a great waitress. The food was better than top notch. The 5 o'clock seating had a most spectacular sunset. Shrimp, mushrooms, bacon and stoneground grits, chicken breast stuffed with spinach and artichokes, key lime pie. Everything was delicious!
Had a nice backyard dining experience at this place! Everything tasted very well— and the portions were decently sized but not too huge allowing you to try a plethora of items
