The oysters were huge and fresh! First time I had crab, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I don't like fighting with my food and it's a real battle getting the shells off some of those claws and getting the meat out those joints.I think I'll stick to shrimp and lobster. The food and service was excellent though.
Very fast. Ambience is, well let’s call it rustic. Like an old Florida place on the side of the road in The Keys rustic unpretentious. The blackened dolphin sandwich (not the mammal porpoise, but what has now succumbed to being called “mahi mahi”) was cooked perfectly. A great variety of seafood on the menu as you would expect based on the name. I would go back again.
YUM!!!! Fast service! Great food! We had shrimp and scallops and Key Lime pie with a crazy Kewpie Doll meringue topping!!! All good and I would def go back again!!! Fun atmosphere, happy people!
If you're in it for the food, don't bother with another restaurant on Key Largo. Eaten at a bunch, and this is the one that actually serves wonderful, well-prepared fresh fish. Great from start to finish. There is no tiki bar, no waterfront dining, no live music. Just really good food and a relaxed atmosphere. A cut above everything else we have found on Key Largo.
I am from Maryland, and I admit I can be a seafood snob, especially when it comes to crab. The Fish House makes a crab cake that is the best I have ever eaten. It almost pains me to say that it is superior to any crab cakes I have had near the Chesapeake Bay itself. Also, the Black and Blue Yellowtail Snapper was probably the best fish dish I have ever eaten. Amazing waitstaff as well. Eat here. It will be the highlight of your stay in the Keys. I guarantee it.
Fresh snapper, excellent and attentive service. Also, their smoked fish chunks appetizer is delicious-- smoked king fish. We've made this restaurant a regular destination to take friends and family... well worth the long drive down from Miami.
Encore is closed on Tuesdays... So we went to the main restaurant. Very good! Matecumbe style prep is the way to go... Also a very solid key lime pie.
Been coming here for 30 years and its STILL,,, the best seafood around!
Very good fish. Highly recommended by three friends. Not full so seated right away. Service was pleasant and efficient. My wife and I both had Yellowtail Metacumbe, a house specialty. Fish was excellent, served sizzling hot. Vegetables were disappointing, except the cole slaw, but we went for the fish. Large portion. Could not finish it after the conch chowder--good but should be spicier. Went to mrs. Mac's the next night---The Fish House was much better, although pricier. Would definitely go back.
Food was amazing and super fresh. Everyone cleared their plates and we look forward to coming back.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay and eat here. We stopped to buy some fresh fish from their fish market. Everyone here is so friendly. I love the atmosphere. Very whimsical. People were in the parking lot, waiting for them to open. We live 2 hours from Key Largo. They put the fish we bought in a 5lb bucket with ice so we can get the fish home nice and fresh.
The freshest fish and the best stone crabs. We had a wonderful dinner at the Fish House celebrating my husbands birthday. Monica our server was amazing. She has been there for 30 years. We will definitely be back.
This is a late post. I visited The Fish House 12-07-2022. I wasn't too hungry, so I just ordered appetizers. Couldn't decide on New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, or the Conch Chowder, so I ordered a bowl of each. I also got the mushroom caps with a Blue Crab stuffing and an order of Cheddar, bacon, and shrimp dip. The Hampton Inn where I am staying gave me a card for a free slice of Key Lime Pie. The food was excellent!
Great. Fresh fish served well prepared and fairly priced - i tried the fresh hogfish (amazing tender white fish). love the kitschy interior and lively crowds, fun and perfect Keys ambiance. skip the key line pie…too sweet i think.
Spouse and I started with conch fritters and conch chowder, both highly recommended, the chowder in particular had very good smoky/savory flavors. We then ordered the large stuffed shrimp were good and the Fish Encore which was baked snapper with tomatoes and scallions in key lime butter, excellent flavor. Definitely recommend a stop there when in Key Largo
the food is just amazing ! I have been around all of Italy but never had such tasty Pasta . I ordered the Shrimp & Scallops Key Lime and it was heavenly !! thumbs up to the chef .
as a soup I had a Lobster Bisque cup, it was delicious but a bit salty.
I ended up with a key lime which was excellent. a bit sugary for my taste but it was delicious.
the waiters were friendly , food served hot and quickly.
Best seafood restaurant i’ve been at. Every time i come on vacation to visit key west I MAKE this place a top priority visit. The freshness of the seafood is astounding. I always come for the snow crab and fresh oysters. There’s so many other varieties of foods on the menu. But I also had the full rack of ribs, fried calamari and finished it off with a slice of chocolate cake. The attentive service along with the atmosphere really adds a plus.
Honestly one of the best meals I've had in quite a long time.
The staff is wonderful and our meals and apps were incredible.
Definitely add the baked/stuffed option to the lobster. Was +$4 and got the equivalent of two delicious crab cakes.
Such a good experience!!
Very tasty food. The grilled grouper was very nice, as was the lobster bisque and the key lime pie. Worth a visit and a nice dinner when in Key Largo.
I would definitely eat here whenever I am in Key Largo!!! Excellent service, phenomenal food and fun laid back atmosphere. So many fresh seafood options- you won’t be disappointed! I recommend the key lime margarita too. Out night cap shot for dessert was delicious and a fun souvenir shot glass.
