Great resturant, delicious food, courteous helpful friendly staff, great decor. I go every year for my birthday, and has been going since they just have the little take out section. every time someone visit New York, I take them there and they always enjoy, our Alumni Association has our breakfast brunch there. Once you're in New York city check them out.
Hi Chris don't you think I should have a Good Card membership. Continue to keep the Jamican flag flying high with you delicious, authentic Jamaican meals.
The food as AMAZING, the staff is so kind, interesting and proficient, and the place is decent and clean. I cherished my supper here and will be back with a greater amount of my companions! In excess of 5 stars are merited
I grew up near the door and recall when it used to be a Chinese restaurant. I am so happy that it is now Caribbean and Soul food and the food is delicious. I travel from the Bronx to eat there now and then and I'm never disappointed. Great place!
Cosy restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The food is delicious. Try the Jamaican food selection. Great sauces. The taste is authentic. Excellent service.
Love it. Short ride from Hilton JFK. Seafood soup was the bomb. Goat curry was tasty. I loved the bread. Michael was a fantastic server. Rum punch, yum!

You can enjoy traditional authentic Caribbean dishes at The Door in Queens. They offer various dishes such as curry shrimp, oxtail, curry goat, jerked chicken, escovitched fish and much more. .
I come in here for their Jerk Chicken. Let me be for specific. I come here for their dark meat Jerk Chicken. Their white meat is excellent but the dark meat variety has lots more going on. It is amazing. Together with brown rice and a iced drink to cool me down for the next bite.
The linens on the tables are a great touch but unfortunately I really end up looking messy by the end of the meal.
Well worth the price point indeed and worth the trip.
Great dining experience. I can't get enough of the Door, especially because I am a witness of their journey. From a take out restaurant to fine dining Jamaican restaurant, the food is always sumptuous, the staff pleasant and courteous always providing a pleasant dining experience, and great ambiance!
Genuine Caribbean. Went last week for 1st time, And I loved it..True Caribbean food unlike "footprints"Will definitely be going back soon..All mi true West Indies "The Door" is a must
Delicious! Beautiful dining room! A wonderful dining experience.
First walking in, a dim setting with a typical carribean decor..island paintings, long drapes, candle lit dinner table all very settle but chic. Waiter service was moderate, they talk low and fast I guess to complement the dim inimite atmosphere. I ordered the curried goat and my man ordered the oxtail dish..food came out fast less than 20mins. Curried goat was delicious! Soft and spicy along with the rice and peas, string beans, carrots and plantains..I must say well put together dish. I did taste my man's oxtail dish which I would get next time since its less spicy but still tasty as my curried goat. Before our entree we did choose chicken soup (you have a choice of soup or salad) it was ok a bit spicy for me though. Besides good food..this restaurant should be known for some pricey strong drinks. I had the rum punch and the jamaica delite, both strong in liquor but my favorite was the jamaica delite..rum, amaretto, pineapple/lime juice..pretty good. Overall, The Door was good..I would give it a solid 7 out of 10.
We took our niece here for her 19 birthday. The service was excellent. Our waiter name was Ramon.
He was very friendly, Best Jamaica food hands down. Definitely recommended.
I had the stew chicken and I am super proud to say it was exceptional. This was done the correct way and no browning added like other restaurants. The server Simone was very professional.
Great ambiance, excellent service, and the food! The food was delicious. I love how this restaurant represents my culture. 🇯🇲
Came all the way from Virginia Beach Virginia to enjoy a meal at this lovely restaurant. The service was excellent. The waitress was above all I was so pleased when she said welcome madame The food was exceptional the best place to eat.
We all loved the dishes we ordered! Everything was delicious. I ordered the curried goat. Such a large portion, I couldn’t finish it all! The only thing was the service was VERY slow. We came around 2:30 on a Sunday, and waited close to an hour after ordering food to be served. Even when paying the check, that took a long time. They were extremely busy when we went, so maybe it’s not typically that slow? Our waiter though was very nice. Place was clean and well maintained.
This was a pretty cool place. The wait staff was a little slow, not very attentive, but very polite. When we were seated there were only about 4 other tables already in the process of eating. So when 30 minutes passed and we still didn't get our food. I was a little concerned. I had to stop the waitress and inquire about how much longer it would take. A more attentive staff would have been stopping by to offer that info. The staff definitely could use some training in being more attentive and communicative with it's patrons. These small details is what can make the difference in tipping and an overall good dining experience. When the food finally came it was good quality food. The decor was upscale, clean, good lighting, welcoming energy all around.
I went for the first time today with my friend. I’ve been craving good Jamaican food since I’m pregnant and let me tell you this restaurant did not disappoint!! The food was delicious. The ambiance was very nice and the staff was so polite and very nice. They made me feel welcomed from the moment I stepped through the door. Will go back it was a great experience overall. Everything was 5 stars
I have been eating here since they remodeled. Yesterday was my first dine in experience, the atmosphere and staff amazing. My complaint deals with the food, I don't mind paying good money for good food. My girlfriend and I ordered eschovitch fish,a side of rasta pasta, and oxtail. Before ordering the oxtail we asked approximately how many comes in an order for 36.00. We were told about six and they are a decent size, that was the lie. They cut up an oxtail into half or so where it looks like you've got two but it's really one or a half. When we got home to eat the left overs it was a bunch of tripe mixed in. We will stick to the fish and rasta pasta moving forward. This is my reason for three stars for the food.
The food was so good, we ate ourselves silly. I can not say enough good things about the staff! Super friendly! Atmosphere was top notch. Will return next time I am in town.
We were celebrating a birthday we were greeted by their friendly staff as we had made reservations which is completely necessary for a large party. Our server Avion was amazing and was suggesting tasty dishes from their vast menu everyone was satisfied with his picks, come prepared to eat and drink exquisite food and well mixed drinks. Well dressed staff along with a clean, quiet atmosphere was more than I had expected from this restaurant but surely don't judge The Door from the location and outer appearance once you step inside you will be amazed...Ask for Avion and you will be well taken care of as he gives you a welcoming feeling can't wait to go again.
