First of all, I've tasted a LOT of BBQ from countless BBQ restaurants, large backyard parties, various Rodeo and Wild Game Cookoffs.
Railroad Crossing BBQ out on Hempstead Hwy. didn't disappoint. First taste was the BBQ Beef with no sauce and it had good flavor and the sauce was thick leaning toward a molasses type sweetness...which was also good (reminded me of a similar flavor at a popular Nashville BBQ place). The generous portion of sides were more than enough and the Mac & Cheese was filling as well.
I'd have to say the Fried Catfish Fillets was the surprise. Nice large plate sized fillets perfectly coated and cooked just right so you could taste the freshness of the catfish as it was melting in your mouth. A lot of high end restaurants can't seem to get it right but this place did!
I already know there will be several future visits since I want to try the burgers, rib eye steaks and other things off the menu, but I have a feeling I'll be ordering a catfish platter and sliced BBQ sandwich To Go each time.
The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful! Highly recommend!
All you can eat catfish and steak! Very affordable. The catfish is awesome and the steak is as big as a plate and cooked properly. The staff is very friendly as well! I'll be back!
The customer service is exceptional each time I come. They make you feel like family and the food is awesome value for the money. Always more than enough and satisfying!!! I love the fact we're eating in an train cart!!! Too cool.
Went here for a special occasion. The food was good. Prices were great. It is a great place to go if you would like to step back in time and eat in a train car. I had the chicken fried steak. It was very good.
Excellent food, moderate prices, large servings. Good atmosphere!
Great service, great chicken fried steak, great brisket, great okra and Mac n cheese.
Only downside was the BBQ sauce: not much choice, and their sauce has a strange flavor. But if you use your own, should be great! Highly recommend outside of the BBQ sauce.
My grandson and I ate lunch here today. The food was excellent. The employees are so friendly. It was the best chicken fried steak ever. Yum I wanted him to get to experience eating on a train. We took the tour before we left and we took pictures too.
I don't give 5 stars often, but the catfish here is that good. Sides of mac n cheese and potatoes were just okay, but the staff made it worthy of 5 stars. They were extremely friendly and attentive. Sirloin was cooked nicely, but it's not my favorite cut of meat anyway. I'll definitely be back to have the catfish, and eventually try the CFS.
Very cool place, got a chance to sit on the train car and enjoy a lunch. I was told to order the "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" baked potato. OMG! that was one huge filled potato. It was delicious down to every bite. I have also had the catfish which was really good. Will continue going back and will post pics on my next visit.
