Had an absolute blast at Onion Creek! The food is delish, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is an awesome vibe. There is also a really beautiful park about 1 block from here, so you can even go enjoy a stroll after you enjoy Onion Creek. I will ABSOLUTELY be back!!!
Cool little restaurant. Not a whole lot on the menu but it's enough. Food was good. The mac-n-cheese balls were delicious! I didn't have it but there others I was with really liked the crispy cauliflower (warning - a little spicy). The hot dog (all beef) on a pretzel bun was really good along with the beer-battered onion rings (really crispy how I like them). My nephew's order was forgotten, but we had already paid in advance so no compensation or offer hence the lower star, but it was brought out later.
I truly enjoyed the vibe here for my first ever brunch. I was able to have Houston with me in a comfortable environment that allowed us to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. The chicken and waffles was savory and sweet. The breading on the fried pickles was seasoned perfectly and balanced with the ranch dressing. I will definitely be adding this restaurant to my favorites.
First time visitors Sunday for Father's Day, surprisingly it was pretty empty. Since we were first timers we had no idea what we were doing and nobody there offered any help. Had to locate the menus on our own and just followed what others were doing. Ordered and paid for everything, didn't know we needed to keep our tab open just to order refills on our drinks. Bought a Mimosa bucket and was given a very small cup of OJ to share, it was smaller than a kids cup at other places.
Food was good, little to no seasoning needed to be added. Everyone was full and satisfied. The closer to the afternoon it got the hotter it was outside but there was no room inside for 6 people to sit and be comfortable so we had no choice but to go outside. There are fans but they were not much help.
Overall, cute spot and mentioned to others to check already.
A must go when I’m in Houston…was there a few weeks ago and not only great food but a fun atmosphere. Chicken and waffles…great! Avocado toast and chicken sausage was so good a unique. The Bloody Mary and frozen mimosa…outstanding!
The place was great, and the breakfast was very delicious & very unique also the mimosas were so good service was great, and the atmosphere was really good a new spot to go to for brunch. Service was one of the best also. Update: It's still a great spot for brunch & mimosas !
Onion Creek is a charming and cozy restaurant located in the heart of The Heights neighborhood in Houston. This restaurant is known for its delicious menu items including breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. And I noticed that they also have crawfish staring at noon most days.
I made my morning visit with a delicious breakfast dish in mind. I decided on the 6th Street Migas which is made with three eggs scrambled with tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, pico and queso and cotija side salsa verde & fresh flour tortillas. It all came with a side of black beans. I must say, I may have had the best migas I have ever had. The eggs are cooked to perfection, fluffy and moist. The tortillas chips add a nice crunch to the dish, and the onions and peppers add a burst of flavor. The warm flour tortillas are soft and fluffy, and they made for a great delivery system for the migas.
The friendly service at Onion Creek is also to be noted. The staff was not only friendly and attentive, but also they made me feel at home. The atmosphere of Onion Creek is cozy and inviting, with a rustic decor on the inside and a large shaded patio outside.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a delicious and satisfying breakfast, brunch, or anything else in Houston, Onion Creek is right in the middle of Houston. You gotta try the migas. You won't be disappointed.
I'll start with the good. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was a delicious sandwich. The atmosphere of the place is what you make of it. We went on a beautiful sunny, warm (but not hot) day with friends and had a good time. Now the things that I didn't care for. There is no wait staff. You have to go to the bar to order everything, food and drinks. The line gets long. They try to keep it moving, but it depends on the number of registers being attended, and the person ordering. Prices are reasonable and the bar is full service.
Good choice of local craft beer selection, steak was well cooked and there are some good food specials during the week.
The atmosphere was great, food was delicious, and the deck was amazing
