Thank you for the great food and hospitality, the breakfast was delicious. The salmon croquettes are a highly recommended. Nice atmosphere and the waitress Tonya was a nice as they come.
It has a great atmosphere and Th Senator will personally come out and greet you if he's there, The food is amazing and you have several selection to choose from. Stopped for Sunday lunch based on Urban Spoon review and did not disappoint. BEST FOOD EVER! Everything we had was wonderful. Definitely will be a repeat place to dine.
I've been driving past this unobtrusive little brick building the entire seven or so years they've been in business, never having even noticed it was a restaurant. However, one day I found it here on Urbanspoon, and sought it out, and BOY was I impressed! The staff was very friendly and attentive, and I even got to speak to the owners son Avery. He told me they were being featured on Anthony Bourdains show (and I assumed No Reservations) around June of this year, and I can see why. The food was outstanding. What more can I say? Thank you Avery for the excellent food and pleasant conversation! I can't wait to return!
The owner of The Senator's Place is my friend. Years ago he said I should drive to Cleveland from Jackson to dine at his recently opened restaurant. I thought that was a great distance to travel for a dining experience. Well, I happened to be in Cleveland today on business and stopped by. Oh my was I in for a treat!!! The food was absolutely the best I've had at a restaurant in a very long time!!! I can't stop thinking about how good it was! After completing my lunch, I ordered FOUR plates to go and drove back to Jackson and served it for dinner!!! Everything was delicious. In addition, the service was superb!!!!

The food here was amazing southern comfort food! I had the cabbage, butter beans, fried chicken, rice and gravy, and banana pudding. All of it was absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who loves southern food. Price was 13 dollars for a plate, and it was absolutely worth it.
The smoked chicken was absolutely delicious! The cabbage and butter beans were pretty doggone good as well. Stick to the banana pudding for dessert. Fast and friendly, hospitable service.
Stopped in for lunch and the buffet was fabulous. I had beef liver, fried chicken, smothered chicken, black eyed peas, tomato okra corn cooked up together, greens, tea and banana bread pudding...all excellent. The beef liver was like I remember my Grandmother's!
Lucked upon this place while visiting Cleveland. May be the best soul food buffet ever. I chose short ribs, cabbage, sweet potatoes,black eyed peas, and fresh roll. Bread pudding for dessert. Servers all wore smiles and service could not have been better. And, a real Senator stopped by to visit with us. Charming atmosphere.
I felt like the Sooooouuuuulllllllll Train dropped me off for dinner. Amazing scratch cooking. I came on a Sunday and they had a nice smokehouse trailer in the parking lot cranking out freshly smoked chicken for the buffet. Definitely knowing what they're doing the smoke didn't drown the chicken and there was not a hint of lighter fluid in the aromatic flavour. Don't even get me started on the chicken dressing with homemade goblet gravy. I could go on and on.... No prefab or canned food here. Even the banana pudding for dessert was from scratch, which is so hard to find anymore.
Food was very delicious and the staff provided great customer services.
