CG is a sweet little coffee + tea bar thats open late. Great for studying, table top games, chess, socializing, and getting work done. The population is dominantly male gamers but everyone is super kind and plus, they play great indie music here! Thanks Steve for always being welcoming alongside everyone else! The only coffee/tea spot in CLE open late enough for us late-nighters
Cute coffee shop with games at the back and a nice selection of specialty coffees. I completely missed that side of the menu so unfortunately I didn’t get a taste of any but with the amount of people that were at the shop I could tell they are pretty popular.. they don’t take debit/credit but do have an ATM inside for withdrawals.
Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is relaxed. Always full of locals. Truly is a coffee HOME. Awesome how late they stay open :) Perfect place to set up shop for the day if you're a grad student. I'm a little picky about coffee but find their house drip is perfect - fresh and never bitter or acidic.. + their peanut butter cookies slap.
I’ve been coming here for years and absolutely love it. Simple yet fun menu. Great vibes. Just make sure you bring cash. I’d highly recommend this coffee spot!
Great Baristas (Mike especially), chill vibe, jukebox (tho store chosen piped in tunes are fine).
Hope things all over rebound enough for them to get back to being open 24hrs, maybe selfishly, as I work late, and am a lifelong night owl.
Plus, they now take credit/debit cards, instead of cash only.
I recently paid by debit, but there was no chargeable tip option, so cash tips are likely preferred.
As long as you buy something, you can bring in your own food from outside. I often hit nearby Souper Market first, and eat it at Common Grounds, buying a bev there. They do make nice breakfast sandwiches, and have muffins, brownies, cookies, too.
Nutty Irishman and Caffeine Orgasm are my go to coffee drinks.
PS: this November, 2023, recreational weed legalization is on the ballot! So, if you're not registered to vote, do so now, and VOTE YES!
(I'm a 60yr old Deadhead/Punk/New Waver, so ya know how I'm voting 😏😉). Rock On!
I visited on 4/12/23 when their credit card systems were down. I unfortunately didn't see their "cash only" sign, and ordered my coffees anyways.
The owner (I presume) was very gracious and understanding of the fact that I didn't have cash, and gave me the drinks for free. Told me that's he's just paying it forward and that he hopes to see me again.
Will definitely be returning in the future. Not only because of how kind they are, but also because their drinks are amazing!
It's a tight coffee shop but it feels very homey and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend
Calm and quiet during the day, not as busy in the evening as it used to be. After chatting with the workers, I found that they will most likely not be returning to 24hrs, which is unfortunate but understandable. They are still open way later than any other coffee shop is going to be, and the coffee is still fantastic.
Friendly staff. Good coffee and good food choices for on the run. Only complaint is weird behavior in public in a place of business that I've seen.
I’ve been here a couple times & I really enjoy it. The paintings on the wall are really cool and the staff is always really nice. I recommend the banana cream pie! It’s very good. Definitely is the right atmosphere to get some school work done or even to just meet up with friends. If I had to point out a negative, it’s that they only accept cash. But other than that this is a cool spot.
I have been going here for over 20 years and each time this place gets better and better every time I go. Spike aka Mike has been there since I have known this place, is by far the best barista I know. He has made me drinks that put Starbucks, caribou, DD and Einstein's to shame. My kids will know this place, will always return here.
