The Ivy Inn is a must visit dining experience while in CVille! Chef Angelo and his staff consistently dish up some of the finest meals available in town and always source fresh products from the best local farms. Absolutely the best people you will find in the CVille restaurant scene. I highly recommend the lamb!
This place made our 1st year Anniversary so spectacular & one hard to forget. The staff & host made the night very special for us. Our menu's were imprinted with Happy Anniversary on them when we arrived, and our dessert plate had Happy 1st Anniversary written in chocolate. The food was incredible, feeling so blessed to have found such a gem. Would highly recommend for any special occasion.
I was tempted to rate this place a five, but since it's my first review I held back. We ate early and were seated before the rush, so first off, I recommend reservations. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Our food outstanding. The offerings were unique and diverse. The local trout was so good, and the medley of amFog wild mushrooms very tasty. We were sharing freely and all four of us were impressed with the flavors. The feel is very comfortable and inviting, like a B & B.
Great food, excellent service. The atmosphere can be a bit snobby (depending on who is dining). I always enjoy going there. Will be back.
Consistently Great. The menu highlights some of the best locally-procured items and the Staff is always courteous and professional. The bison was delicious, all vegetables are cooked perfectly- not overcooked as in most places in Charlottesville - and each dish phase nuances that add texture and layers. The Filet Mignon was the only one I've had in the area that was truly the prime cut AND not cooked to death. Well worth the money. I would be remiss not to mention the incredible wine list with offerings for every range - just wish there were international offerings.
Top notch for food quality, service and value & in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Recognition of a birthday was low key, classy and generous. (Special menu, welcome Cava, and brownie bites on a decorated plate at the end). Rachel was our attentive, not obsequious, server. The trout, lamb, chicken and tenderloin were excellent. Starters of foie gras, shrimp n grits and mushroom medley also delicious. We'll be back!
My family had one of the best meals I can remember in a long time. Every course was terrific. From the shrimp and grits and crispy pork belly, to the roasted chicken, beef tenderloin and crab cakes. The deserts were equally delicious, including a wonderful cheese platter. The atmosphere and service were great and nothing was rushed. A clear winner!
Excellent food and very nice ambiance!. Our family of five had a wonderful dinner at the Ivy Inn Restaurant over Easter weekend 2013! The food, the wine and the ambiance was all perfect. Very good restaurant that we will definitely visit again!
EXCELLENT. We were staying overnight in Charlottesville and went for dinner. This restaurant is excellent. My wife started with the shrimp and grits appetizer which she said was the best shrimp appetizer she ever had. I had the seafood chowder which was great. My wife had the lamb duet which was lamb chops and lamb meatballs. It was an unusual dish but she really enjoyed it. I had the veal Osso bucco. I see this dish done with lamb frequently but veal is so much better. It was outstanding. We finished off by sharing the profiteroles which were really good too.The next time I am in Charlottesville I would love to go again.
A favorite. One of our favorite places. Especially for a special occasion. We have had graduation and birthday dinners here with large groups. Staff went the extra mile to make sure that all had a good time and enjoyed their meals. Food is always well-prepared.
Possibly the best food in town. This is my favorite place for a celebration dinner. Everything I've ever had there has been top notch, and I mean everything, even the vegetables or other side dishes that come with the entrees. I've been really impressed with their attention to every detail of the food they serve.
I especially like the warm mushroom medley appetizer with walnut crusted goat cheese, arugala and balsamic, the shrimp and grits, the crab cake appetizer, and their trout main course. You can't go wrong there!
Great food and service, expect to pay for it. Simple straightforward presentation, the concentration here is on great service and the highest quality ingredients. Everything was prepared to perfection -- my wife and I were very impressed.
Overall, an incredible restaurant -- with a bill adding up to $100 including a $20 tip. It's a little on the steep side but it's our favorite restaurant in Virginia so far.
I've eaten at a number of Michelin star restaurants in my life and how this restaurant hasn't been awarded one yet, is beyond me. The entire experience was flawlessly executed. The server was completely on top of everything, the presentation of the food was exceptional - and the taste... I was blown away by how flavorful everything single bite was of every single dish.
The crispy pork belly appetizer was incredible. I literally slowed myself down to enjoy every single bite of it. The lamb was delicious and perfectly finished.
If you're ordering drinks, I highly recommend the Rosemary's Baby. Sooooo smooth.
We ate in the outside area and it was so well done, comfortable and warm.
If you're looking for a great place for a special night out or just to get out for a nice date night, this would be the place.
I have to say one of the best steaks I've had in a while seasoned perfectly with a nice crust cooked to a perfect medium rare, sides were oven roasted vegetables and scalloped potatoes, all done very well A+!
Seated at a table perfect for 2 people elegant place settings with nice stemware set for a nice variety of wines that they offer.
staff was there when needed we had our privacy yet there when we needed them, food came out at perfect time intervals
Drinks could have been better, and brownie was a little dry but a pleasant evening.
Our dinner was during winter, so plan on making more reservations during the growing season and see how the menu changes with the seasons
Looking forward to the next visit 🙂
Fantastic meal, great service, and a really unique and beautiful backdrop. There were so many things to choose between we’re going to have to come back. Bison carpaccio was perfect, pork was cooked perfectly, and the sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end it. Highly recommend
A great dining experience in Charlottesville. Impeccable service, gourmet food and nice drink selection. In a historic house with a lot of charm. The sticky toffee pudding cake - wow. Homemade pasta with bolognese was delicious.
WOW!
My wife and I dined here celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary. We have never had such an incredible restaurant experience in our lives! We were greeted with warmth and kindness and immediate wished a happy anniversary.
Our server, Theresa, was an absolute joy to have. She was so knowledgeable about both the drink and food menus, as well as charismatic and kind. She made us laugh and feel extremely welcome and comfortable.
And then the food. My goodness the food. We started with the creamy red pepper soup and the mushroom medley. Both of which were absolutely delicious. We also had the Bolognese, the rack of lamb, and the salmon. I had never had lamb before and it completely blew me away. The Gnocchi was by far the best I’ve ever had! The flavors mixed with salmon was also incredible. We also ordered the risotto which complemented our main courses perfectly.
We finished our meal with the creme brûlée and key lime pie. I cannot describe how amazing both dishes tasted. They ended our stay with bringing us complementary brownie bites and wishing us a happy anniversary.
We felt completely honored to dine here and will always remember the experience we had and will never forget our experience at The Ivy Inn! Thank you!
Excellent birthday dinner! I had a gnocchi starter and the recommended rack of lamb. Both were delicious. First time there, but won't be the last. Service is excellent and portions are good. Atmosphere is pleasant - not real loud so you can have a conversation. Overall delightful!
Absolutely delicious meal! To start, they brought us two glasses of champagne on the house to celebrate an occasion. They also brought out two varieties of bread and two servings of their house-made pimento cheese to share. Then, I had the roasted red pepper soup with bacon cheddar biscuits and chives. The biscuits were served essentially as soup-soaked croutons and they were sinful! The salmon was rich and even though I’m not much of an eggplant person, the paired eggplant was prepared to taste like balsamic. Our server saw I was abstaining from dessert so she also brought us the smallest sample to try of brownies to help us celebrate and satiate the dessert craving I kept at bay. It was a really special, romantic, and cozy dinner and I’d for sure recommend it to anyone looking to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or other occasion.
Great atmosphere! Great service! Great food! Heather was very accommodating with our various food restrictions. The seafood bisque, warm wild mushrooms and salads were good appetizers. The trout, rockfish, beef tenderloin and pork chop were good as well. No room left for dessert. Next time!
