Return diners will not notice too many changes, which is good. The ambiance is excellent. You will enjoy the bautiful interior of a classic old building. If you're lucky (and we were), great views of the city. They have a good wine list, limited bourbon selection, the bar offerings aren't ready for prime time. My friend ordered sambuca, which is traditionally served with 3 coffee beans. They didn't have them when he ordered it a week ago and they still didn't last night. This may be picky, but the table wasn't set properly.
We got oyster and escargot apps, both excellent. I had lamb, which was also excellent, my wife really enjoyed the seafood diablo. We had both souffles, chocolate and Grand Marnier which were perfect, but need to be ordered early. That brings me to my only complaint. The service was noticeably slow, I mean you will be checking your emails, etc while you wait for dinner. The parking lot limits you to three hours, you'll cut it close. They weren't particularly crowded, there wasn't an obvious reason. Slow service and the bar is why I didn't rate this otherwise excellent restaurant any higher.
Charleston's Finest. Laury's has never disappointed me. I have been here for several business dinners and for special occasions. Every course is delightful and there are many choices to please any palate. Try the mushroom ravioli or oysters Rockafeller for apps. For entree, my favorites are the filet mignon, seafood diablo, and maybe the best is the chicken encrout, which is a chicken breast stuffed with Italian ham and swiss cheese baked in a puff pastry! The wine list is extensive and has great choices for any price point. Service and ambiance are impeccable.

Outstanding restaurant! I have e noted fine dining from LA to New York (The Palm .. capital Grill .. Ruth Chris) and Laury's is as good or BETTER .. outstanding restaurant !
Oh my goodness! Service as it's meant to be. The crab imperial is out of this world, as is the lobster bisque. The warm tomato bacon dressing they use on the spinach salad is delicious. We went there for our anniversary dinner and may make it a tradition.
Perfect place for a special occasion!. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish at Laury's this past Friday night. The service was impeccable, food delicious, and atmosphere beautiful and very elegant. My only gripe was the dessert. I felt for this caliber of restaurant the deserts should have been home made. We had the cheesecake and blackberry cobbler, both tasted pre-made...possibly even frozen. Other than that it was wonderful, perfect place for a fancy celebration!!
By far, this is my favorite restaurant in Charleston. Not only is the ambiance one of a kind, but the food and service are superb. Must tries: escargot, table-side caesar salad, and cajun shrimp pasta! Wine list is out of this world, and reasonably priced. Josh cab is my pick. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Amazing place!. I live in Huntington, and will drive to Charleston specifically to eat at this restaurant. It is absolutely the BEST place in Charleston! The food is delicious, the staff is filled with some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life, and the atmosphere/design of the place is nothing short of beautiful. It has a gorgeous view of the river, and at night the lights are dimmed & you have candles on your table leaving a very senual romatic feel. It is a wonderful place, and I would recommend it to everyone to try! Trust me, you will definitely want to go again!
Consistent Dining Experience. My wife and I have eaten at Laury's for years. One thing for sure is that we have always enjoyed a consistent food and service experience. The staff is very friendly and really care about the customer. I usually always order the Scallops Par Fazi and I have never had one time that it was not prepared to my expectations. My wife and I enjoy the Chicken Encroute as well. The steaks that Laury's prepares are superb with wonderful flavor and quality meat. We are never disappointed with our experience at Laury's and will visit as frequently as we possibly can. By far a consistent and great fine dining experience.
A Wonderful Classic. It doesn't get much better in Charleston, WV. A beautiful, classic, historic building. Quiet atmosphere. Professinal, friendly staff. All topped off with a menu that is both traditional and inventive and an incredible wine list. Best martini in town! I've never had a bad meal or experience there. To the contrary, every visit is just over the top.
Fantastic dining experience for my wife's birthday. Upon arrival we quickly realized we was under dressed, never being before we was unaware the atmosphere.

This was a perfect dinner. Steak Diane-5 Stars, Oysters Rockafeller 5 Stars, Lobster stuffed mushrooms-5 Stars, Lobster Ravioli 5-Stars. Service was exceptional, food was incredible, atmosphere was wonderful. Overall I think it tops my list of favorites. If I had died before eating at this restaurant I would have felt cheated. We do not live in the area and we were traveling. Ate here after we had got into the hotel earlier than expected. All I can say is I can’t wait to get back to Charleston West Virginia so that I can eat at this restaurant again.

Very elegant place and atmosphere. The food was out of this world! Pictured is the lobster bisque, the shrimp, scallop and crab Diablo and the cheesecake. All of it was phenomenal! My husband had their filet mignon and it was tender and just melted in your mouth. All around, the experience, our waiter and our food was fantastic and well worth the price.
We could not be happier with Laury's. The service is prompt, professional and warm all at the same time. And each meal is incredible with luscious flavor and presentation. When you want to be pampered, this is the place to go.

My wife and I are in our 60s and this is a top 10 all time restaurant based on our travels in the US and Europe. Superb service from Glen with recommendations, perfect pacing and service. Tableside Ceasar for two, perfect MR filets and a Grand Marnier souffle ( order early with cocktails) reminded us of our anniversary dinners at the Jockey Club in DC years ago. No more flying from Raleigh to Louisville to see our grandson, we will be driving and staying in Charleston to dine at Laurys!!!
We came to Laury’s for dinner thanks to online search recommendations. We are so glad we found this restaurant. Beautiful location, in a historic building across from the river, with great views of it. Very elegant and classy restaurant, pretty decor and ambiance. The service was very attentive and not stuffy. To compliment it all there was the food, everything was made very well and tasted so good. Also, it is one of the few fine restaurants anywhere that still prepares table side dishes, like the Caesar salad and the banana fosters that we ordered. They have a full bar, a large wine selection, and several options for port by the glass. We were surprised that it was not overpriced like many restaurants at this level. We would love to come back!!!!
