Love this ouster place!
We visited for restro week in Charleston and it was a great date-dinner atmosphere! I tried one of the most delicious salmon in my life there — highly recommend. Oysters were fresh and you can pick up the region of your oysters. Service was very nice but I wish the cooking time is just a little faster. Overall, high-touch! Loved it
A really pleasant experience. No wait, some great food, really friendly waiter, and overall good vibe. The mussels, oysters and drinks were excellent, the farm to table salad was a bit too lemony for me, and the shrimp corn dogs were missing a little something/the sauces didn't quite fit the dish.
Food was great. We sat at the bar because they had an hour wait. Despite being very busy the bartenders took very good care of us. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese was amazing. The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy and seasoned very well. The pairing with jambalaya was the perfect choice. Shrimp and grits were a delicious take on a classic southern dish.
Amazing Resturant with amazing food and service. Definitely a local favorite and it was full of tourists as well. Food was spectacular. I had the tuna tacos and they were the best I’ve ever had. They have a wide variety of seafood and other offerings as well as a traditional hamburger which is anything but traditional. Sat at the bar to interact with the bartender and get local info. Very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend this place and suggest you will be amazed as well.
When my husband and I decided to return to Charleston, we knew we had to find the oyster bar we ate at last time, which is Amen. Our server Jacob was attentive, the food and drinks were brought out quickly, the meals and appetizers were fresh, and overall the food is a great quality and quantity for the price. Don't miss out and give Amen a try!
Included pictures are the Caesar salad with fried oyster and then a shrimp platter, which was partially eaten prior to taming a photo. I also had a crab soup, which was hearty and flavorful.
Hellooo. We spent just a full day in town… Visiting from Miami Beach…
After a bitter experience at darling oyster the night before (read review) we had a fantastic late lunch here.
We had two she crab soups, they were missing some color but tasted good.
Also a bunch of small plates… fried green tomatoes, fried oysters, and shrimp corn dogs. Everything was very good but the winner was the oysters.
Thanks amen street restaurant!!!
We had a wonderful family dinner here. Atmosphere is a great mix of casual raw bar and fine dining.
I had the Coriander Crusted Tuna which was light and delicious, with a great blend of seasoning that helped amplify the taste and texture of the tuna. It was definitely on the lighter side compared to everyone else's order so pay attention and ask questions as you order if you are (or aren't) particularly hungry. My family ordered the Shrimp and Grits and the Fried Seafood Platter, both of which came out in heaping portions that would surely satisfy even the most ravenous eaters.
The staff was speedy and friendly and our drinks came rapidly. The location is definitely a selling point. While it isn't an ocean view like some other local seafood spots, it does have great street views of Charleston and easy access to both parking and the markets.
Anyone who has been to Charleston knows how difficult it can be to get into a good restaurant without a reservation. One raw bar we stopped at had a 1.5 hour wait! A short walk from our hotel was this gem of a place. We were seated promptly and had a very enjoyable time. The She-Crab soup was delicious as were the raw oysters. AAA+++
From the starters, to the cocktails, to the entrees. Man this place is top notch in terms of downtown area seafood. Get yourself a reservation for the window seat booth in front of the restaurant if you have a large enough group and it will feel like you’re truly having a downtown dining experience. Waitstaff were very accommodating and the food was spectacular. If you like spicy, try the Caribbean Jerk Mahi and couscous 👌🏼 pair that with the fried green tomatoes and you’re in southern fried heaven! 10/10
There are many amazing restaurants in Charleston to choose from, but if you haven’t been to Amen Street, GO! Our entire experience was wonderful. The hostess was kind and seated us even though we arrived 25 minutes early. Our waiter made great recommendations and helped find exactly what we were looking for. The famous Peach Bellini was great and (surprisingly) paired well with the hushpuppies and honey dipping sauce (AMAZING!!!). My husband ordered the seafood platter and I had the bourbon glazed salmon but subbed the collard greens for green beans. For a drink, the hushpuppies, and both meals, it was about $85 after tax. Considering the atmosphere, quality of service and food, and quantity, we were pleased! Their website says they have a Smart Casual dress code, but I saw men and women in t-shirts, shorts, etc. So I think it’s a relaxed dress code. All in all, 5 stars!! Can’t wait to be back in Charleston to visit again.
