What can I say, impressive from beginning to end. Craft drinks which were creative and delicious. Then a delicious wine (Syrah) recommendation by the very attentive staff. We went with Octopus appetizer, arancini, smoked mozzarella, and then meatballs and paccheri (braised beef and pasta) all on point! Flavor and texture combinations were well thought out. Some restaurants you go to for that one known dish, this one you can come to for any menu option, they’re all outstanding!
Can’t say enough about this place. The service is amazing- I consistently feel like the most special person in the restaurant, and I’m confident they make all their patrons feel this way. The food- equally enjoyable. Pizza is some of the best. Artisan crust but not soggy as many are. Pastas perfectly al dente and portioned. Carefully selected liquor and wine lists with enough variety to please those that need choices. Bar staff is smart and personable- I’m not afraid to ask the stupid questions. And the cocktails delicious. I try anything that’s new, and it’s always distinct in flavor and balanced appropriately.
Love Barano!
We had dinner here and loved everything about it. Food was so good, great wine options, very cute restaurant, and awesome service. Our server, Alex, was so helpful and made sure we had a great dinner. We will be back again soon!
Fantastic dinning experience in Williamsburg here! Everything from the kitchen to table quick as rock! Seafoods highly recommended so fresh just like come out to the water. Must try grilled octopus!! Pastas no.1 option is Bucatani nero! Plus they get gluten free versions for everything. The service is the best, friendly and attentive.
Seating is so comfortable with good vide! Summer outdoor near waterside what can be more amazing! Kids friendly as well cause their pizzas are from stone oven with good quality ingredients. I will definitely come back and try out entire menu!!
If you're on the hunt for some authentic Italian cuisine in Brooklyn, you don't have to look too far. Nestled in the heart of South Williamsburg is a humble Italian restaurant that begs to be discovered.
From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted with warm hospitality and an aroma of freshly baked pizza. Their mouthwatering specialties range from classic pasta dishes to crispy thin-crust pizzas and everything in between. What sets this restaurant apart is the attention to detail and high-quality ingredients. Each bite feels like a slice of Italy, and it's hard not to savor every last crumb.
This restaurant truly captures the essence of what Italian cuisine should be, and it's no surprise that it's a crowd favorite in the community. If you're looking for a dinner spot to make your taste buds dance with joy, look no further than this Italian gem in South Williamsburg.
We initially had a reservation at Misi, but due to AC issues they cancelled it last minute. We walked to Barano after the GM at Misi recommended their pastas. Easy to get in with a walk in for 6 people (although it was a bit on the earlier side - before 6pm). Happy hour deals until 6pm ($8 beer, $10 house wine + $12 cocktails) — I got the All Carb Diet (mezcal), which was good for one, a little milky for my liking. The pastas were solid, recommend the tagliatelle. Pizzas good to split as appetizers - the Nonna was closer to a deep dish style. Overall, good meal. Server was bubbly and entertaining.
Excellent spot for larger parties. Food is good and you will be satisfied, but is not anything to go rant about. Wish they had larger circle tables for larger parties too. Pizza was good (excellent pesto on the tie dye), chicken Milanese, meatballs, bone marrow pasta were the best of the dishes. Some other pastas and apps were just OK, but not disappointing.
Overall, not a restaurant that will blow your socks off, but is a nice local spot for a large party vs a date spot and will be satisfied. Large space. Wait staff was incredible and very quick and attentive. Service top notch.
This is one of the best pizzas that I’ve ever tasted. The flavor of the food was exceptional. Also the restaurant has a cozy environment. The staff is friendly and kind, their costumer service is excellent. They did the best effort to accommodate a party of 12 people and fulfill our requests. The food was delicious everything we order was amazing. All the waitresses and the kitchen staff were wonderful, they try more and beyond in their service. The best is Austin, he is very kind, comprehensive and give you good suggestions on your order. Definitely, I will come back. Totally recommend it.
Lovely interior, with fairly good food. The menu is surprisingly tired (any dish you would expect at an Italian restaurant, nothing particularly creative) but the execution is pretty good. The grandma’s pizza had a delicious crust—crispy outside and doughy in the middle of the bite. The Malfalde pasta, on the other hand, was average. But there were some specials, and the special dessert—chocolate bread pudding—was perfection. A really surprising soft chewy texture that was super delicious. And a nice grappa made it go down warm and cozy.
We were around the area, and happened to walk in for lunch. So glad we did. Lovely ambiance! It was early, so the place wasn’t too crowded and we were served right away. They were thin crust pies, but 2 large pizzas were plenty for 4 of us.
If you want to have the best pasta in the city, this place is a must visit for you. It's definitely on the list. Rustic cozy & welcoming interior. Staff is top notch, friendly and had excellent recommendations. Vibes are immaculate. You can't go wrong ordering anything but the cacio e Pepe Arancini never killed anyone.
Started my evening at Misi and struck out! Mom and her husband really wanted Italian food and I wasn't familiar with the area. Did a Google search and found Barano. Food was Delicious! Had lots of fun and laughs. Everyone enjoyed everything.
