We Visited here by chance... but it was glorious!!
I originally planned to visit mozart cafe, but it was packed.
So, we gave up and on our way home we were starving, so I visited here.
Me and my husband ordered the phillycheesesteak and a cold sub each.
(The marciano and the Italian)
THEY WERE AMAZING !!!
Veggies are so fresh and all proteins are perfecto !!
And also, the owner's kindness made us happy <3 !
We're already planning to visit again to try others :)
I love their sandwiches! They're always delicious.
Tip: This was the first time I'd had it delivered and I highly recommend you don't do that as the bread was very soggy by the time it got to me.

First visit today. Loved the Thunder Lips sandwich and whole deli pickle! My friend got the Paulie with a side of tots. Everything was amazing! If you get a pickle on the side you can fish it out yourself. I do not think the whole menu is on the wall so be sure to check out the paper pamphlet at the counter or look at the menu online. Best cheese steak in Austin! I will be going back soon!
Philadelphia native here. This is one of the best cheesesteaks spots I've found outside of Philadelphia. They have the fresh Ameroso rolls, fresh ingredients and they offer cheese wiz. I prefer to get both cheeses.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Lots Philadelphia Eagles memorabilia and a Mrs. Pacman arcade game which is free to play. Nice laid back vibe.
They also have a barrel full of whole pickles; Classic. They sell tastykake peanut butter Kakes as well. A true taste from home. I was very satisfied. I will return again and again
Authentic Philly cheese steak! Cheez whiz is of course key. Fresh rolls. Good amount of meat, onions, and on mine today mushrooms. The Paulie. Got a side of tots with the sandwich. They were good but cost $3.50 for a standard size order. I think that is a little high. With as big as the sandwich is though you really don't need a side. I had been to the original truck downtown a few times. This was only my second trip to the Burnet Rd deli location. Recommended.
This is what I’ve been hunting around here. A good authentic cheese steak, cheese whiz included. First time here? I’d recommend starting with The Balboa. It’s the quintessential classic! You almost would think you woke up in Philadelphia when you walk into here. They also do deli sandwiches of cheese steaks aren’t you thing. I have not tried them yet because there are too many on the cheese steak menu I still have not got to.
P.S. The Donkey Kong arcade is free so make sure you get a game in while you wait for you hot hoagie. Also, take a gander at the wanted sign about it. Good laugh.
I will be back!
This place is phenomenal. I'm from upper Delaware and spend a lot of time in Philly. I have been missing home and was so excited to see somewhere that had all of the things I've been missing. The cheesesteak was amazing. I got the Balboa and it really felt like I was back in Philly. Only thing that would've made this place better would be if they still had herrs chips like I saw in some real old reviews lol, but still absolutely perfect even without them. Also loved that WMMR was playing on the radio, it's the little things like that you really miss when you leave home. Will definitely be going back soon. :)
The cheesesteaks here are amazing! We’ve been coming here awhile now, and I always start eating before I can take a pic! The Parmesan fries are really good too - enjoy!
TLDR: cool location, good food, and a hefty price to go with it.
For the food, I had the Clubber Lang and the Parmesan Fries. The sandwich was good, personally not the biggest fan of whiz as a cheese, but that’s 100% personal, so I can’t really hold that against them. Other than that, the sandwich was hot, and pretty darn good. The Parm fries were really were it was at. All my food was piping hot, almost too much, and delicious.
They *really* lean into the philly vibe here, with Rocky Balboa themed names for most all the phillys, and Rocky and Eagles stuff plastering the walls. Sort of tacky, but in a cool way? Anyways, nice cool little place to grab a lunch.
Only real complaint is that the pricing was pretty damn high. Ended up costing me $20 for fries and a sandwich (no drink), while I understand prices for everything have risen recently, but I still felt a bit shorted at the end of it all.
The closest to authentic Philly cheesesteaks you will find in Texas! I was a customer of this once food truck, now flagship and the taste still remains! My boyfriend is from Pennsylvania and I have also lived in PA and every time we visit Austin from Houston, we always stop at Way South! It was great to be able to visit the new flagship!
