Hubby and I ate at the Dog House as part of our "Breaking Bad" nerdy adventure! We live in Grand Island, Nebraska and have a kiddo now in Albuquerque. I wasn't too sure about it at first but omg did we love it!!! I'm not big on spicy but that chili was awesome! My husband and I have been craving it ever since! We both had foot long chili dogs with cheese and chili cheese fries! If anyone has a copycat recipe that is close to theirs, I'd be grateful! If we are ever back in the ABQ, we will be eating there again!

I'm still on the Green Chile Cheeseburger trail in New Mexico. But I couldn't resist straying off the trail and trying out Dog House Drive In on old Route 66 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Foot Long Chile Dog at Dog House Drive In in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This isn't the same dark chili with beans sauce we would get back in California. This is red New Mexico chili sauce. It's thin and spicy, and it goes really well with the split grilled skinless beef hot dog. It's a real treat, and Dog House Drive-In is easy to find right on old Route 66 near old town Albuquerque. It's worth the stop! And check out the sign at at when the neon doggie wags his tail.

Just a reliability note since '13.
Am now at about 576 Footlong Chile Cheese Dogs with onions.
Reminder: Chile is a New Mexican Red Chile formula, not brown Tx-Mx/Coney Island type, aka chili.
(Red & Green Chile, along with the Pinto Bean, are the official State's vegetables.)
Pairing? Remains the Orange Drink to compliment the chile.
Ketchup with your Fries, helps cut Red Chile "heat" if need be.
It's a Route 66 icon going back to the mid '50s. Beside the FLCCD, it's noted for the signage using neon tubing for the wagging tail of the dachshund (See via Youtube search: the dog house of albuquerque.)
Muy Sabroso!

One and Only like it...anywhere. If you love Mom and Pop cafes...you have to try the Dog House. This is no place for the timid, the Chile here will light you up. I've lived here a long time and when I want a Chile Cheese dog this is the place to be. It's a Burque classic that I highly recommend. Foot long Chile cheese with onions, Chile tots and a Dr Pepper...no ice please and thank you very much....if you love New Mexican Chile you must try it...enjoy.

Will be coming back to this place!!! The only thing I don't recommend is getting anything with chili for your little ones, my son ordered chili cheese fries and wasn't able to eat it cause it was too spicy for him but other than that we were satisfied :)

Best dog in town!. The chili dog is the best, I've been patronizing this restaurant forever and it has always been consistent.

This is an Albuquerque staple that has even been featured on some shows. The menu is very basic, with hotdogs, fries, and Frito pies. The food is all about the chili. Some days, the chili is spicier than other days. This was a hot chili day, but I thought it was perfect. I had a frito pie and some fries, and everything was excellent. This is a restaurant that closed its dining room during the COVID pandemic, but it has still never reopened it. They only have a few tables outside, so unless you get a table, you have to eat this messy food in your car. Because your outside, the ordering process is a little wonky. This place opens at 1030 a.m and we got there at 1038, and we got the last table.

I have not ever really been a fan of Dog House, mostly because their chili is too hot for me. But when we went a few days ago, the attendant taking orders car side was so friendly and the food was good! It changed how I feel about their establishment. If you're on central and see the Dog House sign pull in and try the food! The fries are amazing!! 👍

Came for the Breaking Bad got a drive-in. Didn't realize it didn't have window service, but the lady hustling between cars got us straightened out quickly. It's drive-in food. If you like that, you'll like this.

Nice ladies who work there and always very helpful service. Chili is a bit spicy as it should be. Eat the dog quickly; gets bad fast but it's really good when fresh.

Great food especially for the price. Ate here after the Breaking Bad tour and, being a BB fan aside, they have really good dogs. The chili has some heat and is what makes the dog. Chili cheese fries are a must. Inside is closed so the servers come to your car. There were probably 15 cars there when we arrived and we only had to wait maybe 2 minutes for her to take our order. We ordered 2 dogs and chili cheese fries and had it in less than 5 minutes. Not sure where the haters are getting their dogs but I doubt they're real

Stopped by because of Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul. Love me a chili dog and they didn’t disappoint! The chili has a great kick to it and I’m only sorry I live 7 hours away or I’d make this a regular spot! Had the foot long chili cheese dog with onions, onion rings and a strawberry shake and it was fantastic! Next time I pass through I’ll definitely make the stop.

First let me say that I love a good hot dog. Almost every city has a hot dog joint that's better than anywhere else you can find in town and has been around forever. In my hometown of Raleigh, NC that place is The Roast Grille and when I lived in Orlando, FL that place was Hot Dog Heaven. Dog House Drive In is definitely the best hot dog spot in Albuquerque. I haven't lived here very long and I drove by the place several times and I never got the chance to stop in until yesterday. A couple of people had highly recommended the place to me and I was excited to check out the spot. There is no indoor dining, always....not just because of Covid. There was the sweetest lady going from car to car taking orders and delivering food. When she saw me snapping photos of the restaurant she told me to give her a minute to turn on the neon lights which might make for a better picture. I ordered a foot long chili cheese dog with mustard and onion, an order of fries and a large soft drink which set me back 10 bucks and some change. The hot dog was perfection. Fresh bun, delicious weiner, and the chili on top surprised me. In all my days I've never had hot dog chili on a dog that was spicy. Never even occurred to me. It was absolutely delicious. A slow burn that builds in your mouth as you keep consuming the dog but never gets too hot. I loved everything about my hot dog. The fries were pretty good, too. Shoestring French fries that were really crispy on the outside. There is a tiny park across the street with one picnic table and so I walked over and enjoyed my meal there at dusk. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in ABQ. Again, the lady taking the orders and bringing out the food was such a total sweetheart of a person. I tipped her $3. I will most definitely be back. And soon. Just writing this review has made me hungry for one of their hot dogs.

I absolutely love this restaurant. It is a divey little hot dog place on the side of a busy road. We got the chili cheese dogs and they were absolutely delicious! The tater tots were little overdone. Overall an A+ experience despite the overdone tater tots.
