I am new to North Carolina and new to Smithfield's. I'm not sure if you can do fried chicken any better than they do it!. Definitely better than all the National Chicken Chains. The BBQ you can decide. If you like fried chicken and sweet tea you've gotta find this one or another Smithfield's in North Carolina

Barbecue at Smithfield's in Wilmington NC isn't as good as Merritt's was (gone now), but nothing ever will be. This is OK.

This is probably one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. I am from the north so I haven’t been to these restaurants before, but, I am glad I took the time and chose to go there while on vacation. Not gonna lie, it made me quit being vegetarian cause of how good the chicken was. Staff was extremely nice and got the food within 5 minutes, there was 6 of us and we all got the food within that time. The chicken was very delectable and the bread was AMAZING as well. I was and still am extremely happy with the food.
I went here to eat and get food to take somewhere. The BBQ was great as usual. I do wish they had a container bigger than a pint.
You know what to expect if you've eaten here before. Good chicken and BBQ and sides. My only issue is, and has been before, asking for a side dish to be packaged separately and it doesn't happen. I'm one of those who doesn't want the baked beans with their soupy wetness overflowing onto my crispy chicken and fries...because it makes them soggy. Some folks don't care either way and that's cool. But if a customer requests the beans be put in a separate container, I don't think that's unreasonable and would hope they would follow through with the ordering process. Maybe the folks packing up the meal don't know. Whatever the case, this place is expensive and not listening to this customer makes me want to find someone else who will.
Was good but I had to get different chicken because it was over cooked and I requested hot fresh chicken,and the fries were cold so I ask for different ones and I sat waiting on fries which they never dropped. Until I took the chicken back.

Great barbecue stop by and got a barbecue sandwich with slaw. Don’t forget the hot sauce if they have it, they always sell out. Make sure to get you some skins I promise you you enjoy them.
Had a great experience here recently with my children. The most kind staff and clean, welcoming environment. Can’t wait to go back.
Best Chicken! Really Big Breast of Chicken! Brunswick Stew was Awesome. I waited almost 3 years to try this place. It was WELL worth the wait. Great Food & Service.
First time visitor. Ordered the BBQ Sandwich meal with coleslaw on the meat. Meal comes with a pulled pork sandwich, mine with coleslaw on top, with a side of French fries and a drink. The meal was delivered to my table. The bbq was moist and I used their spicy vinegary sauce to heat it up a little. The fries were just luke-warm, expecting them to hot. The neat concept in the restaurant is that there is a sink off to the side in the dining area to wash your hands; you don’t have to go to the bathroom to do that if you get messy during your meal.
We Came in 2 minutes before they closed not knowing when they actually closed
They were super nice and when we realized we asked for it to go
They're lovely people and they threw in a gallon of sweet tea
