Tanya's Soup Kitchen is a gem of Wichita! Not only is the food out of this world delicious, which it most assuredly is. The staff is top notch, they use the best ingredients possible, and the folks behind the restaurant are great as well! Soup is not just soup here, it's food for the soul!
Tanya's is my favorite place to go on Friday's for lunch because of the Tomato Curry with Jasmine Rice soup. However one must be early because I'm not the only one who love's this soup....it goes fast I mean really fast. If this occurs 2nd choice not by far is the chowder. Yesterday...yep I was late...I had the Shrimp and Corn Chowder Soup and it did not disappoint. Made fresh daily...seasoned just right with fresh herbs...never too salty...how can you go wrong. The staff is wonderful...smiles all-around and on occasions you might even get a peak at the chef. Awesome Place Keep it Going!!!
I get the Blue key North sandwich every time and love it!! But the vegetable soup wasn't the best, too many root vegetables for my taste. But great service and amazing bread pudding!! Tanya will be missed!
No Other Options for Soup. If you're looking for great soup, consider no other options. Tanya's is your place to go.
LOVE IT!!!!!! Tanya's Soup Kitchen has the best flavors...everything I have tried here has been amazing!
The Blue Key North is amazing. I usually get the half size and a bowl of soup. Never had a soup here that wasn't delicious. If you can manage it, save room for dessert. It's all good.
AMAZING! Favorite lunch spot in town!
Weekend Evening Special (shrimp kabob). I was excited to see shrimp kabobs w/rice $9 as the weekend special. The family & I ordered 4 of these, the food was good. We were disappointed however, for each order you received 2 kabobs with only 3 small/medium shrimp total, and 2 huge scoops of rice. As good as they were I just don't feel like I got a good value for the $. Rice with a few onion & pepper pieces are very inexpensive.
Food here was excellent. I ate my whole meal. Enjoyable environment. The floor service was a tad slow but I did come in at a very busy time. I'll definitely come back because I had a good experience over all.
Love the confusion. Tanya's Soup Kitchen is by far my favorite spot to eat lunch, in fact I am there three or four times a week.
The food is never disappointing. Always homemade, fresh, and creative. Although I often order my regular(1/2 city chicken with tomato soup), anytime they have a special sandwich I give it a go and am always thrilled with the outcome.
I am also a big fan of the staff at Tanya's. The same friendly faces have been helping me every time for the past couple of years. Many of them know me by name.
As a seasoned regular I understand the system they use, but can see why it is confusing to guests who do not frequent the restaurant.
More than once I have seen people leave or be unhappy about the seating policy they enforce(order at the counter before being seated).
Yet I have also witnessed the policy in action, and it works! You may have to stand in line for a few minutes, but once you wait your turn and order, you get your table and the rest is history. The drinks and food come almost immediately-- and the best part is when you are done, you just go (no waiting to pay).
I just really love Tanya's and hope others can see through the confusion, maybe a hostess or someone to greet people at the door would help?
All I know is I will be in soon for some more tomato soup.
A Lunch Away. Every time I go to Tanya's (which is as often as my wallet allows), I feel like I've stepped into a different city. The ingredients are always fresh, everything is always perfectly seasoned and the staff is a bizarre mix of ultra-hip AND super friendly and accomodating.
My only advice is to go early, otherwise there's a chance you won't get a table.
Love eating here. We've been fans for years. My crowd includes several very picky eaters, and Tanya's never fails to accommodate them. If there have been any service glitches, it's been because the place is so busy. Tanya's is one of the few places in town where I'll get something different every time I go, and have never been disappointed.
In a world overrun by zombie-like chain restaurants, how can anyone ever complain about TSK?
