Honestly the best place to order a cake! I gave them my idea of how I wanted the cake and it came out way better than I imagined.. Beyond happy with the outcome

We've been Maria's Sweeties since we moved to CT almost ten years ago. The cakes are phenomenal. I was always a frosting and filling girl -- cake was just the material that held everything together -- but Sweet Maria's cakes are so moist and flavorful that the cake alone is worth eating, too!
As good as the cakes taste, we are big celebrators, and we go for themed birthday (or other occasion) cake when the opportunity arises. Diane is a genius! So creative and artistic! One of my favorites was a pirate-themed cake for my husband's birthday a few years back. There was a ship in the distance, a treasure box full of gold coins on a beachhead, two pirates in full garb (looking suspiciously like PopPop and our granddaughter!), and along the sides ocean waves. It was exquisite! Another gem was a Hairspray (the musical) cake with the birthday girl's name spelled out in the show's logo blocks over huge 60's-style flip hair and, along the sides, cans of hair spray in action.
The taste of the cakes is really incredible. Not overly sweet, so it appeals to grown-up palates. The cookies, including the fabulous biscotti, are great to give as hostess gifts and to treat yourself as well. Lately there are other confections to enjoy too -- chocolate-dipped goodies, French macarons (Yay, Kellie!), and beautifully realized cupcakes and cake in a cup.
One of my favorite ways to spend a morning is to sit in the beautiful little side room of the bakery with a cup of coffee and some goodies, and -- if time permits -- spend a few minutes with Maria, Kellie, Diane and the rest of the Sweet Things.
It's no surprise when in anticipation of a party, my 'scattered across the tri-state area' family always asks "Will you bring the cake?"
“I’ve tasted hundreds of wedding cakes and this was the best one I ever had.” (- a quote from my wedding photographer). Out of everything at my wedding, my cake was the one thing that people couldn’t stop talking about. My husband and I went a bit out of the box and ordered Lemon Lavender cake with lemon mousse. (He loves lemon everything, and I love Lavender so it was a match made in heaven!) It was also entirely gluten free which was impossible to tell. I was shocked when I saw that my cake looked exactly like the inspiration photos! And it of course was delicious. Absolute perfection. Working with Maria and the staff was nothing short of a joy. They were incredibly generous, giving my fiancé and I multiple sample trays of cakes to try and even throwing in some free cookies and mini cheesecakes, just because. Those little courtesies meant a lot to me. It was all very special and I’m so grateful to have worked with them. God bless Sweet Maria’s!
They did a fantastic job on my wedding cake! The details were beautiful and the cake was delicious. Definitely not your typical wedding cake. The frosting was not too sweet, the cake was moist and the lemon filling was delicious. Thank you so much for making our wedding cake so delicious and beautiful!!

I was fortunate enough to sample one of Maria's cupcakes that were given to us as a thank you for servicing her car. It was the best cupcake I have ever had. Although I did not pay for this one I would be happy to both drive the distance and pay whatever was needed. Don't hesitate to order in large quantities! Thank you
Recently bought some cookies and cupcakes from here because I have always heard great things about the place but never actually came in but I’m glad I did. The cookies (a wide assortment) were astoundingly moist and delicious. Each bite returned a wonderful flavor. The cupcakes were just as good —sweet, moist, and delicious. The frosting was also subtle as in it wasn’t completely sugary like many frostings usually are. Additionally, the staff there was very nice and helpful. The desserts were so great that I decided to write a review which I rarely do; 5 stars and many compliments.
