Daughter told me about Serendipity when my usual Tues Stepper dance hang out was closed due to after blizzard conditions. She was right, it was open, had mature crowd and I was impressed with the "Cheers" like crowd. Owner Jessie and bartenders Toni and young male employee were warm and welcoming. I think I found a nearby spot to relax. I'll check out jazz or Sunday brunch this weekend. Hope some dancers will frequent to encourage little dancing sometimes.

We found this hidden jewel on Groupon. Being an fan of jazz, a small group of us from California decided to try it. And I'm glad we did. The jazz was outstanding. But what was a nice surprise was the amount and quality of the food. Best Mac and Cheese I've had since being in DC for two weeks. Actually everything was amazing. The cherry topping was the management. The owner took time to accommodate us. Even though it was busy, she made us feel like family. I would highly recommend this spot.

Cool neighborhood spot Everyone is very friendly, delicious, soul food fare. The catfish dinner was exceptional: fresh, most, we'll seasoned, lightly battered and crisp. Freshly cooked vegetable sides. Weekend jazz sets are informal with very talented artists. A delightful surprise and no cover charge. Think old school, around the way, jook joint. Informal, unvarnished seating and amenities for a low key, fun evening out.

Exceeded my expectations! I stumbled on a groupon from this place & decided to check it out. AMBIANCE & STAFF: On Wednesdays they have live jazz. The band was great! They definitely set the tempo for a grown up chill night. The Manager, Mrs. T, & the owners son stopped & chatted with us in an engaging conversation. That definitely made us feel very welcomed. The lights were dim & they have accent lighting around the windows to set a romantic intimate feel. This place is definitely a neighborhood favorite. The usual patrons were easily identifiable. The crowd was predominantly 35-60s years old with a handful of 20-30 years olds. Our waitress was friendly & gave good recommendations. THE DRINKS: We were there for HH and they had specials on the drinks, but not the food. However, with any drink you ordered, you get 3 free wings...SAY WHAT? I had the blackberry & peach sangria & it was so refreshing! I also had a Chai tea latte with almond milk with our dessert. It was the perfect balance of Chai to almond milk. I hate when Starbucks over or under do it with the milk. I also liked that almond milk was an option there. I got a taste of my Beau's orange ginger mint tea & it was tasty. THE FOOD: The chicken wings brought me back to the days when I would eat my grandmother's chicken. Nostalgia! Delicious! The zucchini bites were so delicious even though they resembled more of zucchini slices. They were accompanied with some kind of sweet & sour sauce & pesto. Where ever they get their produce from, I need to start going. The quality of all of their produce (spinach leaf, cucumbers & tomatoes) were refreshing. The jerk wings were good & not too spicy. The house salad wasn't bad either. We had their rum bun/cake drizzled with caramel & it lasted about 2 minutes on our table...HA! That rum!!! Parking: Make sure to read the signs. We were told that they ticket alot in that neighborhood.

Serendipity Jazz Coffeehouse seems a bit odd but its really not. From the outside, it looks like an upscale trap house or maybe a car detailing shop thats not open on sundays, however the inside relaxes you like hanging out at a Wednesday night choir rehearsal. 2 walls of large windows make it easy for insiders to see outside, diluting the atmosphere in a way. The staff is smart, friendly, servicing and professional. You can not ask for anything more than that. Anyone can sell food and drinks but you cant sell or buy the love that Serendipity offers to its community of customers. Hang out here!! .. live jazz, non U St, mature Washingtonians..

Neighborhood pub. Nothing about this place is fancy. The service is friendly but slow. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. They have live music and dj on weekends and some week nights. Cute Lil low key spot to stop in and chill for drinks, food and music.
