I am not a chocolate connoisseur by any means but my boyfriend and I were visiting DC last year in late Summer/early fall and wanted something to bring back with us for ourselves and for family and friends. I ended up getting 4 gift boxes with 4 truffles each. The hardest part was choosing from all the delicious flavors! I kept changing my mind and the woman behind the counter was very patient and informative. She even gave me a little ice pack to keep in the bag because I was worried about the chocolates melting in the warm car. I love that you can choose your ribbon color, it’s a nice personal touch. I will definitely be making a repeat visit if we’re ever in DC again!
I also wanted to note that I see some people complaining about the prices. Given the amount of personalization and knowledge the employees put into each box, I feel the prices are very fair. It’s a small business in the heart of DC with high quality chocolates that are meant to be a special treat.
A MUST GO PLACE when visiting Washington, DC! All around 5-stars 🌟 I have tried a lot of chocolate from many chocolate shops and this place has the best quality. Try the gourmet chocolates behind the counter in the glass case. They have a variety of delicious and unique flavors, each with a distinct taste profile. The service is equally excellent! Thank you for the wonderful experience. I will be visiting again on my next visit to Washington, DC!
I’ve been to right many chocolate shops and this one was just okay. They did have a decent selection. I always look to see if they have Icelandic chocolate bars and this place did. I took my time and selected a few items. I was surprised at my total but good chocolate is a little pricey. I enjoyed the curry coconut truffle and the lavender caramel chocolate. The other ones were kind of blah. The espresso bar was very tasty and the intense 95% dark with ginger was complex and truly unique. Loved it. Haven’t touched the pyramid yet but plan to next weekend. Staff member was friendly.
I love this little gem of a specialty chocolate shop. I visited just before Christmas and they had a full selection of truffles, holiday chocolate gifts, and an amazing array of bars. The staff really know their chocolates. They were helpful as always pointing out and describing options for 80%+ cocoa bars I was trying to find. And in selecting truffles for custom truffle boxes, including local chocolatiers! It is my go to place for special occasion gifts or treating myself to hard to find chocolates.
Incredible selection of chocolates and truffles. Stumbled upon some flavors I never knew existed. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the world of chocolate. Highly recommended!
Fantastic chocolate shop with a wide selection of craft chocolate. I went in looking for chocolate made locally in the DC area. The worker quickly pointed me to exactly what I wanted. My wife loved the selection of bars I purchased for her!
The Chocolate House is wonderful! I did a truffle making class and it was a great time. We learned a lot and the truffles were delicious. I highly recommend this class!
This is the cutest little spot. I'm so happy my friend brought he here. There are chocolates from all over the world and u can make an assorted box of gourmet chocolates. I will definitely be back. Everything was amazingly scrumptious and so cute! 😋
I'm a chocolate fiend and I've had fantastic chocolates throughout the US and Europe. The specialty chocolates at The Chocolate House of DC (the colorful ones behind the big case) are the highest quality, most creative, and most delicious chocolates I've ever eaten. My family of 5 shared a box of 20 and cut them each up into small pieces so we could each try each flavor and finished the whole box in one sitting. You can tell that great thought and care went into the recipe and preparation of each flavor. These chocolates are world class. I also ordered a bar of Cuban dark chocolate which was fascinating, unique, and delicious. This place is an absolute must-visit for every chocolate lover. Bravo!
Really great truffles that are perfect for gifts. Great selection of bars and other gifts too. Very friendly staff.
