This is one of our go-to spots for a cheap, quick, and delicious meal. The tacos, are creative, large, and delicious in almost all cases. 2-3 is enough for a meal. Margaritas are great too.
I recommend getting a couple of the classic tacos, as well as a couple of their specialty ones. The specialty “taco bamba” taco is great.
What can I say, I love this place. If I’m not here once a week, I’m here twice a week! I was excited to finally get a legit taqueria in this part of D.C. They serve amazing tacos and tostadas. Here are my favs:
Barbacoa Tacos
Sid Vicious Fish Tacos
Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo
Carne Asada Tacos
Rice and Beans
I pretty much rotate them, but will occasionally try something different. For as often as I go, I could probably try every single thing on the menu. They also have four types of homemade salsas, ranging from mild to hot.
This taqueria has two sections — there’s a counter area where you can place your order and they’ll call out your order number when ready. The other section is the bar area with wait staff. I’ve sat in both and the service is great all around.
The lunch crowd often draws a line for the counter service, but it moves fast and the food is worth the wait. Oh, and if you heard or read about the music playlist, well, it’s true. This part is an acquired taste. I’ve learned to tune out the some of the songs they play that I don’t care for.
Check out this place. You’ll want to keep coming back. Enjoy!
If you are looking for authentic tacos and flavor, this is the place. The experience was great! However, if you are ordering adult beverages you must order at the bar and food at the counter. I would consider this as a fast food experience, you sit yourself as a table opens up. Guacamole is extra and you can taste the lime and herbs. We ordered it with chips to share. Place is always busy so expect a line to order, to get your food, a table ...oh and for your alcoholic drink .... but it is worth the wait as the food is delicious.
Some of the best tacos and nachos of my life, at a great price. Cashier and bartender were super friendly. Atmosphere was chill, great place to hang out. The chipotle portobellos, shrimp, duck, and steak were all incredible. The margaritas were top notch. I wish I could go here every week. They have a wide selection of hot sauces. It will take you many visits to work through the entire menu.
Fantastic quick bite. Stopped by before a concert at Capital One Arena with friends and we had our food minutes after ordering. Everyone's food was to request. Delicious tacos. Nice seating selection, clean tables, clean restrooms.
This is a great casual place to get tacos. They have some vegan options marked on the menu. Gluten options are not marked on the menu, and the cashier didn't know which items had wheat. She checked in with the chef and said I would be fine with my choice on a corn tortilla. Tacos are small, cashier suggested I order 3 for a full meal. $20 is more than I'd like to regularly spend on lunch, but the food was great and I'd definitely return. Horchata was awesome, with plenty of cinnamon!
Taco Bamba is by far my favorite restaurant to buy tacos in the DC area. Unless there's another taco restaurant that wows me the way this place did, then I'm getting my tacos here! The exterior is very inviting and it's a rather spacious area. I ordered the Sid Vicious Taco and T'NT Taco.
The good: Sid Vicious consists of a crispy cod, malt vinegar salsa macha, mint tomatillo slaw, and tartar. The taco shell is very soft and warm, and the cod is definitely crispy and fried really well. The meat of the cod is tender, and the toppings on top went extremely well with the dish.
The T'NT taco consists of a crispy beef tongue and tripa with pickled fresnos, grilled scallions, and chili aioli. Wow! This taco is amazing! If you love cow tongue, this piece of meat was really crispy and I wish it had more beef to enjoy.
The bad: It is a little pricey for the special tacos since they're $4.50 each. Obviously the traditional tacos are cheaper at $3.50, but it's definitely worth it to me to pay a little extra for delicious tacos.
Overall, I really love these tacos, and will come back for more to try their other special tacos and other dishes.
Great taco place, affordable in comparison to DC fare. 4 different homemade salsas, all great flavor but only one somewhat spicy. Spent $29 on 3 tacos, 1 michelada, and an order of chilaquiles. The tacos are on 2 normal size tortillas, easily can make each taco into two. The michelada is can size but has great taste. Chilaquiles are on point and crunchy l, they come with rude and beans.
This is my all time favorite restaurant to get tacos. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it is all very delicious. They use authentic and fresh ingredients that are seasoned really well. It is often very busy during lunch time but the food doesn't take that long to be prepared. My favorite is the El Gringo! I've noticed that different locations have a slightly different menu and set up, but the same great taste.
Super cool find! We were at an event around the corner and found this spot on Maps recommendations....great great find. They have customized tacos, non-tacos, nachos & more. The staff was friendly and the food very tasty! I had a Royale which tasted like a cheese burger in a wrap....AH-MAAAZING! Affordable. Small serving. Quick service....and tasty food....a win on this dreary day! #yum
