Great vegan healthy option with lots of choices and the food was really fresh. It's also a great value for your $. We enjoyed talking to Stephanie and she gave us a recommendation on what to order. All the employees were very friendly too.
The Gazpacho and the burger were delicious!
Manager and staff super friendly and polite.
Beefsteak is my go to spot for a healthy quick meal in DC. Great high quality ingredients and friendly service. Nice to eat healthy, especially when it tastes so good.
Yum! It was my first time visiting, and the first time I just take ‘whatever she’s having.’ My friend was shocked when I said that, but I truly had no idea what’s good, and we were in a rush, so I thought I’d take the risk 😉. We had the cauliflower bowl, and it was amazing. I also added chicken because why not.

Beefsteak's menu is set up as a do-it-yourself buffet of veggies, veggies, and more veggies. Lots of gluten-free options with minimal cross contamination. Dairy also easily avoided. Read my blog for full details!
The second location of Beefsteak, Jose Andres’ vegetable focused restaurant is now open in Dupont Circle in what was earlier a conference room in a bank. Let me say though, there are no remnants of that conference room anymore! The space is now open and bright, with milk crates hanging from the ceiling, colorful vegetable murals on the walls, and a beautiful tile backsplash.
At Beefsteak, vegetables take center stage. If you have been to the first location in Foggy Bottom, you know what to expect. The focus on the menu is on grain bowls, combining vegetables, grains, house-made sauces, topped off with fresh toppings and crunch. There is also a salad option and a “burger” made with a thick slice of tomato instead of a patty. Although there are preset bowl options available, I highly recommend making your own. Pick your choice of vegetables, all of which are flash cooked in hot water, add on a grain (I love the bulgur), choice of sauce (tomato, cilantro, garlic yogurt, etc) and add on toppings (the kimchi and seaweed salad are great! Gazpacho and fresh juices are also available.
Although you won’t miss the meat, you can add chicken sausage, egg, or salmon if you want. Either way, you will change your mind about vegetables- the combination of the cooking method, sauces, toppings and delivery make for a fun meal, and a different experience each time. And even if you don’t “change your mind, you will at least eat them.
Beefsteak will also be switching up to new fall additions soon. I’m looking forward to the warm fall soups that are going to be added!
Last but not the least, Beefsteak Dupont has beer on tap- a rotating selection of local craft beer.
Great for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. Tasty and inventive take on staples of fast casual food. More vegan options or vegan substitutions for non-vegan items would be great. Highly recommended!
I was super excited about trying this vegetarian place on my trip to DC and I was not disappointed! My friend and I got the Little Curry Warm Rice Bowl and it was loaded with veggies and super delicious! I love this concept of quick casual yummy vegetarian food and I hope that Jose Andres expands it to San Francisco!
Heaven for healthy eating! Mostly vegetarian , some options to add chicken , but plenty of protein options. Incredibly delicious, steamed veggies that are crispy , grains and the best toppings I had ever tasted and I am a picky eater. So many options too.
It's beyond reasonable for the quality and quantity ( although I never go for quantity as a an asset ). Friendly service and also house made Apple- cucumber- kale drink is so tasty as I was hesitant to try.
Been a regular here and recommending it to all my friends! Love the fact that they are committed to recycling and this is a brainchild by the famous chef José Andrés !
Who knew vegetables could be so exciting? Beefsteak offers an amazing assortment of fresh, flavorful, and healthy food in a fun, rustic environment. The menu is fairly extensive, with a diverse mix of vegetables, sauces, and toppings (yes, they even have chicken sausage for the obligate carnivores out there), and the staff is friendly and helpful. The most interesting part of the meal by far is the immersion hot water machine (think french fry fryer, but greener) - when I saw my veggies descending into a boiling vat of water I expected the worst, but they came out well-seasoned and still surprisingly firm. Don't forget to grab a homemade fruit and veggie juice mix on the way out!
First time to try José Andrés’ mostly plant-based fast casual restaurant. We ordered a lentil curry bowl and the “Frida Kale-o” which is black beans and rice with steamed kale and sweet potatoes. Delicious. I also got the “Beetsteak Burger” with a big slab of golden beet, pickled and topped with tomato, pickled red onion, and sprouts on brioche. Don’t skip the gazpacho which is some of the best I’ve had.
Very good! I love the aesthetic and how the name “Beefsteak” contradicts what they actually serve! I can’t wait to eat here next time! The Beafsteak burger and Eden are recommended
Really good fast casual vegetarian and vegan friendly place with bowls and salad. Plenty of healthy choices. The Frida Kale was sort good!
Fresh! Healthy! Delicious! Made my own salad bowl with steamed veggies, smoked salmon and spicy tomato sauce!
Great place for vegetarians and vegans obviously. Their bowls and salads are pretty filling and there is a large variety of options so you're never bored. My favorite one is the curry option! They even have a chicken sausage office for your carnivore friends. It is a quick lunch spot and it always clean. I find myself going more often than I should!
New favorite lunch place!! The flavors blend so well and make vegetables taste DELICIOUS! I don't know how they do it. I always leave feeling great too. Also, the juices are a must try! I've never had drink flavors like that anywhere else. They need more locations!
