This is always a go-to place because the food is good. Not much to say on the outside but the owner is really nice and they take real good care of you. I always get the combination chicken and lamb with the hot sauce and it's always on point. The gyros are also good.
Super fresh, delicious Greek food.
Relaxed atmosphere.
Great diner.
Excellent. Ordered the Lebanese platter and every single item on my plate was richly flavored. The owner/chef is a master! The menu features some items that are hard to find at local middle eastern places and they're well worth trying. If the classics are more your thing, they too are top notch. Even the basics like the rice and salad -- stuff that is all too often bland and boring -- really shine here.
I don't usually write reviews but this was hands down the best Gyro I've ever had. I'm serious....I was sitting in my hotel room, after ordering our food and having some great conversation with the owner, and I bit into the Gyro and said "Holy $#&@" to my wife. The gyro had lasting and vibrant flavor from every single bite. It's not the dry/ flavorless meat that can happen easily on Gyros. You'd expect this quality of food from an exquisite restaurant. The meat was savory, tender, and delicious! Highly recommend!
DC cafe is a must. It's the only place in DC that you may find open and offering great tasting food after 3am. Love their lamb gyros and baklava. The service is not conventional and offering fake smiles, but they do care a great deal about their customers. The owner used to extend the hours when I arrived late at 4am couple of times.
Great salad, great little place with outside seating, great ownership. Best value on Dupont circle
I have lived all over Europe and Turkey and this is, hands down, the most authentic Levantine lamb pita you will have outside of Syria or Lebanon. I walked by at midnight on a Friday and wasn't sure if it was open but the owner/cook was outside and said yes we're open and I went in and I asked him if I was going to get Greek or Turkish style and he said he and I got no kidding the best Levantine seasoned lamb pita I had had in probably 15 or 20 years. There was no discussion of how late it was or how much business had come through it was basically a discussion of the history of the past of the area where he had come from and how fantastic the food was and it was awesome. I will be eating here every single day every single time I am in this part of DC. If you are missing the Dinner of Germany and Turkey or the Gyro of Greece, you must eat here.
Best place to visit after a night of bar hopping. Owner/chef of the restaurant is the nicest guy on the planet. You can tell he’s passionate about his business. Gyros are THE BEST. Love this place and will always recommend to friends who bar hop around DuPont
The food was amazing and the owner gives very personalized attention to his customers, plus he showed us around to all the famous people that dined in his establishment and it was really fun, Ce lo Green, Slipknot and the Backstreet Boys were there. Definitely a memorable experience! Will be back soon!
The food is delicious and exactly what you might expect from a small, local cafe.
I highly recommend the DC Cafe for its service and incredible kindness of the owners. I participated in an urban plunge project in which I and a few other students lived as homeless individuals in the DC community. The people of this cafe were some of the few who treated us with genuine compassion and responded to our appeals for help.
I encourage everyone to support his local, small business.
