Here for lunch on a Saturday-- attentive, patient, and pleasant waitress, got the personal pizza with mushrooms---lovely flakey light crust and generous amount of mushrooms. The dolmades were standard but beautifully presented. Club sandwich flavorful with fresh meats and good tomatoes for this this time of year. Ziti was good--- friend was going to take half home but ate it all! Greek salad was disappointing; soggy lettuce and tasteless dressing--. Good for lunch.
Great pizza. The Athen's Special Pizza is really their best pizza (not too thick, not too thin) and a crust that is to die for. Service is hit or miss...but they should include Public/Guest WiFi for their customers...most of the other pizza places offer free WiFi. They have WiFi in their place, but they say its private. Come on, let go of few extra pennies and add a guest WiFi for your guests!
If you want family atmosphere and great authentic greek food, Athen's is the place to go! The pizza is awesome and their Gyros are to die for! Athen's prices are great and i think ill try something from their new items on the menu next time. Will be back for more and would recommend Athen's to anyone!
Cleanest restaurant in Hampton Roads! Great food for a great price.. I love the homemade spaghetti sauce and my husband's favorite is their gyro sandwich and their pizzas. We go out a lot to eat, and Athens is definitely one of our favorite!
Nothing special. I had a gyro which was good for the price but the menu was very small and I would've liked to see more greek options.
I was nervous coming in at 8:10pm, when the place closes at 9pm. I'm usually not that person, because I feel bad. But my friend insistent. We sat down and quickly ordered, and the waitress was beyond friendly and told us not to rush. We ordered a pizza, and saw that they were doing there closing cleaning. So I just asked for our pizza to go, due to feeling guilty and not wanting to be that person. The waitress insured us that we are fine and should stay to eat. Once we got our food, the pizza was amazing and they loaded up on the toppings. I was skeptical getting pizza from a Greek restaurant, but I'd recommend it 100%! It's was beyond delicious and the perfect crunch!
I've been going to Athens for about 14 years now. The service and good food is excellent. I really haven't branched out much on the menu. I'm one of those annoying predictable 'order the same thing nearly every time' eaters. I love their chicken gyro sandwich with provolone, and the salad with feta is awesome. My kids loves the pizza, and I think it's good too. I'm just hard pressed to give up a chance for a gyro when we go there.
My girlfriend and I got pizza and lasagna. Both were delicious but not spectacular. It's what you'd expect from an older restaurant like this one. However, it does give off a very homey vibe. Our waitress was warm and friendly and recommended a few good items on the menu. I will definitely be coming back.

I’ve loved Athen’s for years! Expect quality every time! It’s a family restaurant with the best pizza and gyros around. The service is fast as well, especially takeout. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes. Definitely give them a try!
Food is so good, the waiters were super nice, orders came in timely manner which makes me so sad that after 36 yrs they are shutting down shop & definitely not because of lack of customers or their food! They were always pretty packed, like I said their food was delicious, family friendly, & staff were outstanding. So to be clear this post is for Athens NOT the new restaurant that it is now
Get your mind wrapped around American, Greek, Italian fusion. Generous portions, family friendly menu. Great for parties where not everyone wants the same thing. Food is value priced and the portions are big. Bring your appetite!
We have been eating here for years and the food is always good. We often dine in and the servers are friendly and quick. We also pick up several pizzas for card night and all of our friends enjoy the pizza.
We were expecting a hefty bill at the end - based on the service - and not knowing what the specialty dessert would cost. True to classy form, the meal was very reasonably priced for the value. And the dessert was on par with what it was for the cost.
Good pizza and great service. My only gripe ...pineapple on our ham & pineapple pizza was obviously from a can. We were there for a birthday celebration and despite our large group, service was quick.
I've been coming here for almost all of my life and never do I regret coming here. Food is great, waiters and waitresses are friendly, this is a place of memories and smiles. Definitely a place to come for some delicious cuisine.
