The best beef pho' in the Hampton Roads area. The broth is aromatic and full of flavor like it's supposed to be. After trying all of the Vietnamese restaurants in the area, this will be our go-to place. We saw other people's orders too, and everything looked really good. Can't wait to try other items on their menu.
Like most of the South there is none or very little ethnic (Asian, European or Middle Eastern) fine dining in the Tidewater area. I have been eating Vietnamese fare at this location for nearly 20 years. The food and service are consistently excellent. It's as close to Vietnamese fine dining that I can find south of D.C.. I've not noticed any French flavored cuisine to represent the history of Saigon but whatever you eat will be delicious!
Place is good, great location, but I have had better Vietnamese. Tofu spring rolls were tasty, but the grilled shrimp vermicelli lacked flavor (I typically don’t add fish sauce to my plates but had to this time). Presentation on point, and friendly servers. Restaurant was not full but not empty— a little awkward having to ask for my check twice and then having to wait for them to come get payment; had to go grab server after a while and paid standing by the kitchen access. No biggie though. I might keep exploring the area for Vietnamese options, but would come back for a second bite. Clean restrooms.
PS: They don’t offer Tofu vermicelli hence the minus 1 star.
Excellent fast and friendly service. joaquin was great and the proprietor even came by to check on me. Definitely recommended.
I am impressed with the food here. I am a tourist coming here to travel. Finding Vietnamese dishes is not difficult, but choosing a restaurant that suits your taste is more difficult. I really like the sour soup , noodle soup , pho and braised fish at the shop . All very fresh , they cook when we order so I can feel the freshness from the dishes. I will come back. And the service is very gentle and friendly which is a plus point.
Saigon # 1 phon has a lot of good options for pho. I usually get the tofu pho with beef broth. I always order for pick up and the food is ready quickly. The level of spice is appropriate. They would be for from increasing the amount of sauces that re included with to go orders.
This is my absolute favorite place to get pho from! Love the spring rolls they have jumbo shrimp inside and not baby ones like most places. Quick service and quality food. Super delicious! I definitely recommend coming here! The Thai slush is also one of the best I’ve had .
I tried the Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli noodles, recommended by the server. It is served cold wish a side of fish sauce. I mixed everything together and it was good. The restaurant was cold, not sure if they had the A/C on or if it was just cold coming in from outside. Server was nice.
We had the beef and seafood Pho along with the shrimp and pork spring rolls. Extremely fresh, delicious and affordable. If you're a foodie, this is the place to go. We got carry out and ate it on the beach! They have a large selection of unique foods. My only regret is that we live out of state! Highly recommend
First time visiting this place and I'd have to say it's decent. Got pork sandwiches, wings and fries. A bit more cilantro than my liking so be sure to mention that if you're not a fan. But the pork was cooked nicely.
And honestly, I'll get double the wings and skip the fries next time.
The food was pretty solid but definitely could have used some variation in seasoning. Also, the fried egg I received was cooked well over having any run in the yolk. Still, I would return to try a few more of their dishes. The service was also quite pleasant as well.
The wife and I absolutely love this place. We have been going to Pho 79 for years, and we just happened to move down the street from this little gem, tried it, and never looked back to Pho 79 again. Delicious!
