Sushi King

As I enter this hallowed hall of sushi, I'm greeted by the presence of the spirits of ancient Japanese shoguns, taking a break from their eternal battle to unite the islands. I immediately know this establishment is classy and tasteful by the meticulously arranged fish tank and the drapes guarding the entrance to the kitchen, adorned with the Great Wave of Kanagawa. After being seated, I quickly scooped up the menu and carefully analyzed it. As the waitress walked off, I saw her whisper into a hidden microphone, most likely warning the kitchen that a customer possessing above average gluttony had entered their domain. She could see it in my eyes. I kicked it off with a Pepper, one that had a PhD in refreshment... I then settled on 4 or 5 items off the appetizers menu, I wasn't just here for a quick snapshot, I wanted the whole package, and that included being well appetized. After the appetizers, I informed the waitress I was "ready to roll". She knew what I was about. As soon as I started in on the rolls, the conflict had begun. The kitchen staff and I would be locked in heated battle for the better part of the next two hours. I knew it was a race against the clock, as the rice would assuredly expand in my stomach, limiting my intake capacity. About an hour and a half in, despite having downed countless rolls, I knew I was behind. So I prayed to Confucius and Oda Nobunaga, the legendary 16th century daimyo, to bring me the strength and resolve to complete my sacred mission. I powered through the remainder of the menu and thanked the spirits for giving me the guidance to get it done. The waitress, disheveled and disheartened, gave me my receipt and scowled at the satisfied look on my face. I put my ceremonial sushi headband back on and headed for the exit. Before leaving, the bowl of peppermints on the counter caught my eye... Who was I to refuse the tasty, red and white hard candy? I left the premise, retrieved my horse, strapped up my bamboo armor and rode off into the sunset, satisfied...

Still one of the best all you can eat sushi restaurants in Virginia Beach, in terms of quality, price and service! Around $15 for lunch and $24 for dinner.

Love this place - it's our go to for sushi! Always fresh and fast, with friendly and accommodating staff (a must with a large family)... Menus are easy to browse with lots of good pictures too (if, like me, you can't remember the different types of sushi by name!). Vastly prefer this location over the lynnhaven one!

This place is great. The food was delicious, it was not too crowded. The food was made to order. The server was nice and helpful. Would I go there again, yes. Would I recommend to others, yes. It is a little pricey but for every once in a while, oh yes, I'll go there. I went there yesterday . 👍

This place is good for a sushi buffet. Overall the food was good, not the best obviously cause it’s all you can eat but definitely some nice tasting items. My favorite roll was the amazing roll and least favorite was any of the fried rolls (they had to much rice). Gyoza was good. Peppered tuna would have been amazing but had to much pepper. I will ask for no pepper next time. Also has a huge ice cream freezer selection. Service was also very prompt and offered modifications on some items which was exceptional. Will be back here again.

I've eaten here many times before and the food has been great but tonight the quality was definitely off. The rice was bland and the rolls fell apart as I picked them up. I had a tempura shrimp roll and the shrimp was hard and not flaky as usual. Thankfully the pepper tuna tataki and the jalapeno yellow tail appetizers were still as good as I remembered. Service was great as usual and we were seated quickly.
